Well, it will be without commercial breaks. So if it is bad, the pain will last less long.

Same for Kill Gill volume 1 & 2
Now I watch the first six episode of the season and it's cool to watch it in DVD !

Last night as my flu slowly started to kill me into a nine-hour coma, I listened to the first six commentaries. Very much standard "laugh at everything" commentaries and give a bit of insight.
The most telling one was in THOH after the "It's Mr. Burns; now with a fox attitude!" line as everyone CRACKED up and someone has to explain that it's funnier to them because a Fox exec told them to do it once. The problem is right there: hilarious in the room, not hilarious on television, yet it goes in the show.
Thats the one exception.
Maybe it's just because I haven't become a cynical fan (yet). I like seeing a season collected into one set. Allows me to easily see how the season flowed, the ups and the downs. I'll admit, the worst episodes I only watch twice on DVD then forget about (once sans commentary, a second time with commentary). The worst THOH's usually have one worthwhile segment. Send in the Clones is a favorite of mine, but I'm not a fan of the other two segments.
UP AND ATOM!
I completely agree with the previous 2 posts. Owning the season on DVD (or Blu-ray if you're into that getting less for more scene) just is a good feeling. You can experience the great episodes that a season offers, and I personally learn to enjoy some episodes that at first watch just seemed "meh". I mean, obviously there are episodes like "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed" that just suck and can't be fixed, but episodes like "Weekend at Bursnie's" or "Poppa's Got A Brand New Badge" from S13 have become episodes that I watch regularly, even though my original impression of them was that they were at best average. The sets also simply appeal to the completionist in me.
At the risk of earning my profile name... here's a dumb question:
Just bought The Simpsons: The Fourteenth Season (Limited Collector's Edition with Molded Head) for my son (xmas gift) but I'm not sure he'll like the 3D package as he stores them side by side in his DVD collection and I recall him saying he did not like the other 3D packages. So here's the question: Is the 3D part of the Limited Edition Collectors Box a removable card in front of a regular box or is it glued or attached to the box?
Perhaps I should have searched for a regular flat box version but Best Buy had the Limited Collector's Edition on sale for $31.99 (plus I hate wasting time running from store to store only to be disappointed).
I'm keeping the receipt in case!
"Real songs are about deals with the devil, far off lands, and where you'd find smoke in relation to water." - Otto
"I used to rock and roll all night and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky." - Homer
Some people are like slinkies they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
Ya don't worry. You can remove the 3d molded head without doing any damage to the box and underneath it is the standard cover.
Mind that there's some glue also you have to get rid of when you remove the 3d molded head.
I've never gone for the heads. The season 6 head was mandatory, on release, but thank god they gave fans that mail away standard box. Since then I've gone standard all the way. Seasons 11-14 heads are just a lazy take on the season 6-10 head design. Since they're just removable, I could have just bought the head and removed it but then I'd have a stack of flimsy secondary character heads to put in the storage room.

haha! Exactly. Words to live by. I wish this release had commercials, weren't there a few Butterfinger ads in '01/'02?
the heads suck. I got the S6,7&8 heads as a kid because I thought they looked cool but now I just see how impractical and ugly they are. The box sets are much nicer.
Do the slip covers for the 6-10 heads yellow or get brittle?

i honestly have no strong desire to get this set. i got s13 the day it came out, and i still haven't even watched every episode from it (i've seen them all at one point or another, just not all on the DVD). but since 14 was released just a mere 2-3 weeks until christmas, i can easily just wait and ask for it then, and see if i do get it. I'm surprised more people haven't done this. I guess the desire for the season in people was too strong...

Overall I enjoyed watching season fourteen, and I'm glad I bought it on Tuesday. The packaging is such a pain in the ass, never had a DVD before that is so hard to get in/out of the case/box. Even though season twelve is similar, even I didn't have the problems I have with season fourteen. (I don't own season thirteen yet)
Some episodes turned out better than I remembered, some worse. Even the bad episodes were enjoyable to watch again. Been awhile since I've watched any Simpson episodes I haven't seen in a terribly long time.
^
Try the S11-packaging. That's even a bigger nightmare.

i have the heads for seasons 6 and 7. i figured they would be the same kind of packaging as the other copies. turns out they are, but there's less art in the innards. i love the art in the DVDs so after season 7 i started getting the other editions of the sets.
btw, are there any like references to the 300th episode being in this season, on the box-art? i really loved season 5 and 9's art, both obviously celebrating the fact that one had the 100th episode and one had the 200th. i don't remember seeing anything when people posted pictures. it looked just like the previous few seasons, which kinda sucks because i was expecting some really cool, nice artwork celebrating their 300th episode
Just a featurette I think.

sounds interesting. i just wish there was some reference to it somewhere on the art of the dvd. oh well

you'd think there'd be more of a celebration for the covetedd *300th* episode haha
Well, to be fair, season 5 didn't really have any celebration things going on about it (unless you count the circus as a 100th episode frenzy, but I think its based on the actual circus couch gag). The only thing it really even said remotely about this accomplishment was maybe a sticker on some boxed sets in some stores, but that's it. The 200th episode was advertised on the packaging, but still, the theme is not based around it, and there's no featurette, so I really see no need to work up a 300th special, but it'll be interesting to watch.

i know that neither the 5th or the 9th seasons box sets had anything to do with the 100th or 200th episode, just a couple references (i never suspected they went with the circus thing for s5 because of the couch gag, i figured just a way to celebrate 100 episodes). i just thought it was weird that they would make a couple references on the sets for the 100th/200th episode, but not really anything for the 300th. of course, in the end it's just numbers that happen to be 'cool' or whatever because they end in 00's, but still
The only really good accomplishments in a show would be 100, 500, and 1000 (though I doubt any show will ever get to that). The middle ones just don't sound as cool.

If it lasts long enough, the 666th episode could get some attention...
Can anyone please post the episode/special features runtimes for the 14th season? Thanks.
