Well I'm assuming now that all that stuff that RJS said is just plain bull. This is a real bummer. I was looking forward to getting this next month but oh well. Maybe this is the start of them going back to August/December 2 releases a year.

I can't believe it!! Ahh, boy!! If the Season 14 boxset doesn't come out until December in America, when will it come out in France? I know that they've said that the Season 14 boxset would be released on September 19th in Region 2 but I'm pretty sure that it only concerns the United Kingdom.

They'll never be able to finish the entire series on DVD if they continue to release the boxsets at this speed (and they're doing it on purpose!!! It's so annoying!!).

It's really annoying when you see other TV series like South Park that are pretty much up to date with their DVD releasings.

does this mean the region 2 release date is pushed back, or was that also a lie?

Well the region 2 release date was official but it's also now very possible that it too has been pushed back. If it's the usual pattern of it coming out the month after it does in region 1 then that means that region 2 won't have a single Simpsons DVD release this year.

Release in september for where I live. Soon I'm gonna hear Matt Groening mentioning how they do commentaries on all episodes in contrast with other series after having made a summation of all the guest-stars in season 14.

don't get me wrong, it genuinely could be a great episode, but i just see a lot of people giving it a 5/5 just to do it.

i wonder if fox is going to advertise it a lot, not just because it's the coveted '500th episode!', but because of lacklustre ratings recently.

What makes you guys think what RJS said was fake? Perhaps they simply pushed back the release date for some unknown reason. That doesn't mean he was lying about it.

pushing back a release date about 4 months is pretty big though. if RJS WAS telling the truth, they'd need a big reason to set it back almost 4 whole months.

that, and him not really saying where he got the info. i asked like 3-4 times, as did others, and i don't remember what he said, but it was vague (pretty much 'i know someone', but i don't remember exactly what he said).

he might have been right about other stuff he said, but again, he was vague about how he got the info. on the commentaries. when you come and say stuff about an upcoming release several people want, and you barely say how you got the info you are saying, there's a pretty good chance that person is lying. that's all i'm saying.

The commentary info might still be true, but it probably isn't. I really don't get why they're pushing this back so much though. Making people want it more just doesn't seem like a good enough reason to me. Oh well, maybe one of our region 2 friends will fill us in on the info in September.

Also, I love that promo for the 500th episode...

After season 10, they have been slowing down the releases of the later seasons. Could it be possible that seasons 11 and onward are getting released more slowly because they are not expected to sell as well.

Heck, only the first 6 seasons of King of the Hill have been released on DVD and for years there has been no plans to release the rest of the episodes. But then again, King of the Hill wasn't as popular.

you just solved the koth problem; it was never as popular as simpsons, especially with DVDs. back when season one of the simpsons was released it was one of the best selling tv series. the older fans would probably continue buying seasons 1 through at least 9 or so, whereas most of the newer fans (or rather, most of the people who think the show is still as good as it ever was) would be likely to buy every season. there are quite a bit of fans, even if the lacklustre seasons aren't selling well. and compared to how much the first 8 or 9 seasons made (i don't know, but i am assuming those sold really well upon release), it shouldn't be too much a shock if say, season 17, when it comes out, does not compare.

also, the wiggs, if this is the start of them continuing to release two a year, we won't know until sometime next year, and that's of course only if that's what they are doing. maybe they're just going to release them at christmas time. more people will want it as gifts and they are likely to sell better and faster as opposed to coming out in the summer. it would suck but i could see them doing it

So the US gets the Season 14 Box set in December? Strange, makes a change for the UK to get the box set first... especially with a gap that long. It makes me think that the UK release date will be pushed back to Jan 2012.

Well the fact that when he was feeding us that info he was nonstop on these forums posting left and right. Now that we have this contradictory release date he's nowhere to be seen. I highly doubt he had legitimate info, but only time will tell.
