Favorite episode centered around a very non-favorite character of yours?

Also, what makes this episode better than other episodes centered around this character (i.e. better characterization, plot, ect.)?

For me, this episode would be Gone Maggie Gone. I found Lisa likable in this episiode. She wasn't annoying and I noticed a lack of, or a severe reduction of her undesirable traits of her that are apparent in other episodes. I think it's the perfect way to use her character. She's smart for her age, so we get to see her solve puzzles in order to get to her baby sister. I like how her intelligence is incorporated into this episode, as she doesn't come across as a know-it-all, but rather someone who is fighting obstacles in order to achieve her mission. I also notice how she doesn't freak out when she got some of the puzzles wrong, showing that she knew that she can't be perfect.
However, at the same time, she is also only 8 years old, so while we get to see her smartness, she still acts like a child as she seems to enjoy the sense of adventure. She finds her journey to save Maggie exciting, as most kids her age probably would. Overall, I found that the episode showed Lisa's smart and child-like sides perfectly and she came across as a good character in this episode, for me at least.

I don't neccessarily have a character that I hate, but sometimes Chief Wiggum is quite annoying for me so I was surprised at the great depth and humour of "Chief of Hearts"

so a very fun episode for a very average character

I like every character ( when characterised properly )
If there is one that isn't up there with my favourites, it's probably marge. One of the best marge centered episodes is "marge on the lam". We get to see what she is like around other people , and see how she behaves in difficult situations . Plus the great appearance of Lionel "Miguel Sanchez" Hutz.

Most of my least favorite characters don't have an episode surrounding them. Of the prominent secondary characters, I'm not a huge Krusty fan. Of his, it would probably have to be either Krusty Gets Busted or Krusty Gets Kancelled.

Most of the characters that I don't like really don't have any episodes with an A or B-plot surrounding them, but out of all the characters: I really don't enjoy Apu, but I loved Much Apu About Nothing.

I enjoy "Three Men and a Comic Book", even if it is CBG's first appearance (although he's much less annoying then than he is now).

Thanks to CousinMerl for this great sig!

No, I would definitely say that he's MORE annoying than he is now. I hated his voice in this episode, it really pushes my buttons.

I dislike Ralph a lot, even in the classic era.

However, I do like I Love Lisa and This Little Wiggy.

It's certainly different. Maybe I found it less annoying because he was actually in a decent role rather than just showing up for no reason.

Yeah, that's probably it. I hated him in the episode, though.

There aren't really any characters that I genuinely dislike. If I had to pick one, I'd say I'm not that big of a Krusty fan but I enjoy almost all of the Krusty centered episodes.

I'm not a big Sideshow Bob fan, but Sideshow Bob Roberts was a brilliantly funny episode and is one of my personal favourites.

My other two least favourites are Martin Prince and Sideshow Mel, but I can't really think of any episodes I've seen centered around them.
Favourite/least favourite by seasons that I own (somewhat stolen from Financial Panther):

    3 - Dog of Death/When Flanders Failed 4 - Lisa's First Word/So it's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show 5 - Secrets of a Successful Marriage/Bart's Inner Child 6 - And Maggie Makes Three/Another Simpsons Clip Show 7 - Marge Be Not Proud/Bart the Fink 8 - Homer's Phobia/The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase 9 - King of the Hill/Trash of the Titans 10 - Wild Barts Can't Be Broken/Maximum Homerdrive

Well, there was that episode where Bart and Lisa think that they've acidentally murdered Martin, which was also a really good episode btw. Although i hated how they made Lisa the selfish one who didn't want to tell the police, and Bart the soft one who did wanted to tell. It was so out of character for both of them.
