'Beavis and Butt-head' returns to strong ratings on MTV
The link also contains a minute-long clip for this Thursday's episode, Daughter's Hand/Tech Support.The response of the TV-watching public to the return of "Beavis and Butt-head" is pretty much this: "Heh-heh. Cool."
The show, which had been off the air since 1997, returned to MTV Thursday night (Oct. 27) to a pretty good-sized audience. It drew 3.3 million viewers, and about two-thirds of them were young men, which advertisers love because they're considered a hard-to-reach demographic.
MTV says "Beavis and Butt-head" is now its No. 2 series among guys under 35, behind "Jersey Shore" (which Mike Judge's creations now spend part of their time mocking).
I understand that we don't actually have a preview thread for the season and people probably don't actually care what we get, but for those who are interested, this gives away some more episodes during this coming season. http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/p...-head-20111027


Well, this is interesting. Zap2it says we are apparently getting two new episodes this Thursday - Drones at 10/9 c and Holy Cornholio at 11/10 c. I would think this was a mistake, but Drones has been in the listings for at least a week now where Holy Cornholio was just thrown in there within the last few days. But isn't that how the show was done back in the 90's - multiple new episodes per week?

"Holy Cornholio" was previewed before the series came back. Based on the preview, it looks like a classic in the making, taking the old Cornholio conceit from the original series to a logical extreme. I loved those last two episodes...much more consistent than the first two episodes, which were also good. Mt. Doom, I understand your frustration.![]()

some stuff about daria:
1. it would be nice to see daria again... I know she wasn't, like, super-essential, but I feel the new beavis & butt-head is lacking a daria-like character they can interact withAnother thing I was wondering: Is Daria coming back?
I’ve been asked that question so much lately that I was thinking maybe we should bring her back. I always liked that character, but my producers at the time said, “You know, we’re thinking of spinning this show off,” and I thought, “Oh, that’s a good idea.” But they became determined to do it without me, I guess, so they went and hired all these people—I had no idea. So I was a little pissed off about that, and I just disassociated myself with it. I liked the character, and I know they had a couple of great writers on that show, so it must have been pretty good, but, yeah, a lot of people seem to want that character back.
I liked her better on Beavis and Butt-Head, for the record. But a lot of people would probably disagree with that.
I liked her on Beavis and Butt-Head. Everyone on the show is portrayed negatively across the board. Daria was the only one who was occasionally not. I liked that interaction with her and them. So yeah, I might have to bring her back.
2. but would he even be allowed to bring daria back? I don't know how character ownership works but mtv might want to keep her away just in case they ever want to revive "daria"
3. this seems like it would wreak havoc on Continuity... I think the assumption on the daria wiki is that all of "beavis & butt-head" takes place in one year, then "daria" is the next year or two. if beavis & butt-head is taking place "now" then all of "daria" happens IN THE FUTURE![]()
For cryling out loud...How can anyone care about Daria that much? I think it's fine to bring her back..But it's not like she was an every episode character. Really not super important either way.

I don't disagree with that at all
I'm pretty sure Daria appeared in like 12 out of 200 B&B episodes (At least with a speaking role anyway). Kinda makes you wonder how she managed to get spun-off at all. Guess it just meant they more or less had a blank canvas to work with and develop during her own series.
The only think that irks me, like a lot of Daria fans, is the timeline. Not that B&B has strict continuity but I just feel like throwing her back into Highland after having her age and develop as a character in the spin-off would be weird.
Anyway, getting off the subject of MTV's misery chick, anybody else excited for THIS episode?

I see no problem with Judge just throwing Daria in an episode, no explanations or anything. She's just a minor character at the school, and like he said, he didn't even have any input on the spinoff. The show was on ten years ago. Who gives a shit anymore?

Besides, she should be out of college by now (going to an all-girl college in Boston from 'Is It College Yet')...she wouldn't fit in B & B-H's time line.
Anybody else notice during the Deadmaus video in "Drones" Beavis mentioned that he thought Daria killed herself and Butt-Head had to tell him she moved away?
Kinda cool for them to at least acknowledge it.

After that there's no new B&B until December 1st, the episodes that week are The Rat/Spill.
Since "Spill" has just been added to the list of new episodes, here's the synopsis:

I'm liking the sounds of these premises. The Burger World episodes were always among my favorites, although it's too bad that we'll miss a couple weeks of the boys. I wonder why they didn't space out Holy Cornholio and Drones, in that case?
How long is this season? Are we getting a scant baker's dozen, or the full 22?
From what I remember, Mike Judge said that at least 12 half hours will defiantly air. If we count the listings on Wikipedia, only 8 half hours worth are listed (Seeing as how "Holy Cornholio" and "Drones" were both full shows).
My guess is a full season. MTV wouldn't dare skimp out on a ratings grabber like this and given that we know 30 episodes were being made. And there's 14 listed, meaning that we still have....

Yeah, MTV isn't going to take the chances of airing a new episode on Thanksgiving. But I'm pretty sure it's only 12 half-hours so far. I'm sure such a low amount of episodes were ordered because 14 years later when kids never saw Beavis and Butthead, it's really another "trial" process as with any other pilot. As long as Judge decides to continue, I would hope the renewal will be a normal 22.
Sunday night PBS had a show called America in Primetime. They did a show about TV misfits and apparently Beavis and Butthead was a topic with an interview from Mike Judge! I was flipping channels and swore I saw Mike Judge..So I only saw the last split second of that segment. I watched the rest of the show and it was great. George Meyer was also interviewed. If anyone can find the show/clip online, I'd love to see the whole thing.

I liked Bathroom Break better 'cuz that's something the boys would actually do at Burger World!
So what do people think about the structure of the new episodes? I'm starting to think that the 'beavis and butthead watching tv' segments aren't working. It's odd knowing that they'll never see a metal music video, and shit like the jersey shore doesn't even deserve to be made fun of by beavis and butthead, it's just depressing.
I don't know what the solution is though, it would be weird if they didn't watch anything.

I thought this weeks episodes were excellent! Bathroom Break possibly being the stronger of the 2..But both really solid.
I LOVE the format of the show. I definitely prefer the 15 minute episodes. I've always been a fan of short episodes for slap stick type comedy (3 Stooges, Looney Tunes, etc).
Commenting on the TV shows is generally better than the music videos. The Jersey Shore segments can be the worse though. It's painful to watch the show, even with B&B ripping it apart.
The "Jesus" video and the rich mansion house were the best videos this week. The guy talking with his teeth closed was pretty hilarious.
By far the strongest return of any show. It's amazing too after all these years. Futurama and Family Guy hadn't even been off for that long before returning - Compared with B&B being off for nearly 15 years.
