Today was the first time I noticed the reason Marge runs Homer over in the driveway right before each couch gag - She's texting on her cell phone! I never caught this at full speed.

What other things can only be spotted with the help of the pause button?

basically any list... if i hadn't for that list in Sideshow Bob Roberts I would not have known stampy, Bart's elephant, was supposedly someone who voted for him. And the "Following people are gay", most, if not all, of the people who work on the show... and the "Rock Bottom Truths" are good

I'm usually good at catching freeze frame gags without having to pause, but at the beginning of "Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 2", the opening shot of Smithers' bottle of Vagrant's Choice Fortified Scotch appears so briefly, I have to go back to read the subhead ("May cause ejection of stomach contents").

during the early seasons, if you freeze frame at any given time, you will either see Homer flipping the camera off, maggie shooting mr. burns or lisa telling bart she's piss.

While watching eps from s8 last night, I noticed a few:

In "Hurricane Neddy," at the end with the crowd welcoming Ned back home, amongst the 'Welcome back' signs on the far right of the screen in one frame there's a sign that says "Free Swartzwelder"

In "The Homer they fall," in Moe's 'office' in the ladies' room are boxing match posters; one of them says "Szyslak vs. Oakley" "Also: Kirkland vs. Silverman."

And it's not exactly a freeze frame moment, but Moe seems to keep his cigars dispensed in a tampon machine lol
