I feel Zoidberg is best in small doses... I generally don't like him in a lead... he has great one liners, great reactions, etc... but I'm just not a fan of a Zoidberg heavy episode.

This seems to be the case. Most Zoid-heavy eps are generally agreed to be average or below average by the show's fans, although it's hard to say if that's Zoidberg's fault or if it's just because of the episode's writing itself.

Personally, I think he's at his best when he has a subdued, but moderate role in an episode. Roswell That Ends Well, A Farnsworth Parabox, AOI1 (vs. Bender), and Parasites Lost all have a lot of good Zoidberg stuff.

Bender episodes kinda work the same way, come to think of it.

I loved the first one when it aired. Now I think it's average but mostly cause there have been so many great episodes after that.

Second one I have always found it to be below average.

Third one I used to think it was below average but I rewatched it recently and it's actually pretty good, not great, but at least average if not a little above average.

But I agree with the general statement about Zoidberg AND Bender being better in 'medium' doses, when they have a strong role but they are not the absolute protagonists (I especially love Zoidberg in The Farnsworth Parabox and in the Dial L for Leela segment from AOI 1). I wonder why this happens. I have two theories:

-They're both 'extreme' characters, one is a really weird and pathetic guy and the other very megalomaniac, so when they get too much screentime it's kind of too much. On the other hand a character like Amy, who most of us would agree is not such a fan favorite as Zoidberg and Bender, works better as a main character cause she's less extreme

-Most of the episodes involving Bender or Zoidberg usually involve other robots or decapodians, and most of the fun of the series is seeing this group of characters that are very different to each other. It's generally more interesting to see Bender reacting to Fry than seeing him reacting to other robots -which is also amusing but it gets more reiterative after a while.

This is almost worth of its own topic...

all else i've heard are just the opinions of people who's standards for futurama are likely pretty different from mine or the average NHC member.

I told my sister about it, and she kind of went "what's the big deal?"

She likes the show, and it really speaks on how it can hone in on a wide variety of demographics. Too bad FOX never gave it a chance to.

-- Fry's pursuit of Leela will continue; their romance will be a theme throughout the season.

-- Amy and the Professor will switch bodies in order for the Professor to cheat death.

-- Grossest Comic Con moment goes to the Professor and Dr. Zoidberg, who engage in an icky (and passionate kiss).

-- We'll get to see what Planet Express looks like in 3030.

Planet Express in 3030 is in "Late Phillip J. Fry" and I guess we'll be seeing more of the Fry/Leela romance thing then, I hope it doesn't ruin the show.

Inevitably, Bender decides to do just that. Guess what happens?

Wikipedia also lists the Holiday show's title, with attribution to the copyright database, but I don't know where these came from.

Also, as a side note, a post someone made in the comments section at the A.V. Club suggests that "Cold Warriors" somehow concerns Fry and his father, but seeing as how there's NO attribution or indication of exactly where that person got that info, I would take it with more than a heaping bowl of salt. But it's interesting on the offchance it's true.

EDIT: Most of those titles were taken down, so I take that to mean that they were probably fake. The Holiday one is real though, or should be.

The rest could go either way, but most of the scenes are decent. Except maybe Professor and Zoidberg kissing, I hope there is a good justification for that. Bah, even that one is ok, I was fearing they were going to do it in a much gross-er way when somebody mentioned it before.

Can I watch these new Comedy Central episodes online anywhere?

I guess I just need to set my DVR and start catching them..but now I've missed several episodes. Would like to start with the first new ones. I've just been very cautious to watch the new show because I'm afraid it'll be an embarresment to the original series. However, watching a few original episodes last week - I remembered how great the show was and at least want to give the new episodes a chance, even though I thought the movies were terrible.

In this landmark episode, titled "The Mutants are Revolting," the Planet Express Crew has been hired to make their 100th delivery and Bender begins planning the party of the millennium. Meanwhile, however, the rest of the crew attends a fundraiser where Fry accidentally outs Leela as a mutant who is illegally living above ground. For that, she is banished to the sewers where her fellow mutants reside in futuristic squalor. Feeling guilty about his slip-up, Fry and the rest of the gang – along with the mutated members of Devo – join Leela in an epic mutant revolution against the surface dwellers.

Can I watch these new Comedy Central episodes online anywhere?

I guess I just need to set my DVR and start catching them..but now I've missed several episodes. Would like to start with the first new ones. I've just been very cautious to watch the new show because I'm afraid it'll be an embarresment to the original series. However, watching a few original episodes last week - I remembered how great the show was and at least want to give the new episodes a chance, even though I thought the movies were terrible.

Shortly after the final one (of this run) airs in a couple weeks they're going to marathon all of them. I'm not sure of the exact date but you could probably just record that.

You can find them elsewhere but only through the pirated streaming sites. Unless you want to buy them on Amazon or iTunes.
