If anyone can edit this so the final frame is also the picture in the frame in the background and have it zoom out from there to make a continuous oh god this sentence is rubbish but you get my drift.

VLC to take screenshots, some website I always look up on google to make it a gif (apparently tonight I used MakeAGif.com)
apparently there are programs that will take all frames (or 5 a second, etc.) from a certain length of time. KMPlayer might even have that? and http://gifninja.com/split-animated-gif/new + MS Paint for that thing up there.
there are certainly more knowledgeable ways but you can get by with my 'way'. I'm always interested to see better methods.

I use Gifninja. I capture my pics by pressing prntscreen on the keyboard when I watch them on my PC. It's not that reliable (as I could miss a frame or two), but it generally works quite well.

I use the SMPlayer for the screenshots and GIMP for the actual gifs.
