    R&R: The Bob Next Door

    Rate and review away.

MY TWO CENTS ON THIS EPISODE:
I think this episode turned out fantastic. I loved the premise of “Walt Warren” moving in next to the Simpsons, and Bart, after hearing his voice, thinks that he is Sideshow Bob..but is he? A hilarious moment in the episode is when Homer says to “Sideshow Bob” that he is going to do what he should have done to his son a long time ago. The most hilarious moment in the episode, however, is when Marge and Bart enter the Springfield Penitentiary, and the warren tells Marge not to draw attention to herself, but then yells “Pretty lady in a strapless dress!” which I ultimately laughed at. Otherwise, I was quite shocked, not at that Walt actually was Bob and Bob was Walt, no, but that the writers went down that obvious and cliched path. Nevertheless, this episode turned out quite well. I was severely disgusted with the showing of the face being taken off, and the hypothetical death of Bart. I loved the moment when Bart had his family see him at the Five Corners, and Homer was wearing Mexican clothes, as they thought Sideshow Bob/Walt Warren was going to Mexico. Another hilarious moment in this great episode was when the Simpson’s new neighbor is a relative of Ned’s, Homer may get so annoyed that he is driven to murder.

    Overall Rating: 5/5.

it had a good, funny first two acts but the face thing in act 3 was just... it just turned me off. act 3 basically ruined the episode for me. and the only thing i liked in act 4 was the ending which to me was the best joke. so... I guess 3/5.

I thought it was okay, I concur with the above poster that the face thing was really disgusting, probably one of the most disgusting things in The Simpsons yet.

Agreed. It was a 4/5 for me until the face jokes. Far too gross and overplayed. Maybe if they did it once in the diner, but again was too much. I gave it a 3/5.

I was waiting for a character to point out that Bob and Walt look so alike that the face transplant was unnecessary, which would have been funny.

I missed the first act, but what I saw was pretty good. Homer was the funniest he's been in a while, such as him going to Mexico and the Sideshow Bob stuff was very well done. Marge walking through the prison was the funniest part of the episode. There should have been a final scene with Walt where we saw him with his face back, but oh well.

The switching faces parts were kind of ridiculous. Milhouse reciting the names of the cowboy radio station also wasn't particularly funny. Otherwise, it was one of the better episodes this season.

Wow, that episode was great. I mean I really enjoyed it, up until that awful shit with the face transplant. I mean by that point I had figured out the "mystery" that the neighbor was Bob and they had somehow changed identies. I never expected the face transplant. I mean this could have been the best of the season. There are a million other ways they could've changed identies. Bob could've cut his hair short, and gave the other guy a wig. To make the matter worse they did that ridiculous face falling off joke twice. The first half of episode was great, I was ready to give it a 5/5, but then they just made it so incredibley stupid. The second half was actually good, if you ignore the face thing, but I can't. It's such a glaring mistake. It ruined what could've been for me the best post classic era Bob episode.

    A dissapointed 2/5.

The faces coming off as gags seemed kind of...wacky. So did Bob cutting off his own face twice. Other than that, fuuuuuuuuuun episode. I loved Bob's plan. It would be interesting if an actual murderer is inspired by this episode to use it.

That's the magic of Gatorgod: he can overrate episodes without making you want to make death threats and questions of sexuality.

it started off amazing. But it turned into the exact same thing in 3rd act. Why not have a 3 part episode. WSMB esque kinda thing for once? Something happens with bart and bob has him captive.

The reference to this made me laugh:

    3/5

The anticipation was outstanding, but the result was only half-baked. It would've been better if Kelsey Grammar voiced both Bob in his normal voice and Walt in a slightly modified voice in order to prevent a big giveaway. The four acts seem to shift too quickly in the end. The five corners gag was a great comeback. Ned Flanders relative Ted Flanders moving in the vacant house at the end with his two daughters was another great gag.

It was good one of the best of the season. Until the last act killed it for me.

I've been waiting and waiting for this forever and man was I amazed by it.
It was very funny and had a lot of good stuff here. The prision scene had me in stitches.
I give it a 5/5. I'll give more on my review later.

had to log on and comment on this episode. i must say i was impressed, one of the funniest episodes in quite a while. i agree with the op about the scene in the jail where he yells "lady in strapless dress coming thru!!!" that had me rollin! yeah the storyline was completely predictable but i don't really judge the show on that too much anymore, after 20 years i grateful the show is still on the air. my main thing these days is are there the laughs there. and this time they surly were. i'd give this one a high 4/5

A lot of people sound like Sideshow Bob, like Frasier in Cheers, and Frasier in Frasier.

The face cutting parts were cringingly graphic for what the show usually produces and I felt it really distracted you from the action of the plot. Completely unnecessary when they could have used camera angles and framing to imply what was actually happening rather than giving you a close up of Bob's face while he cut it off.

The rest was really fun, I enjoyed it even if it was similar to the setup for Cape Feare.

    3/5

How did the design of the house next door compare to the Ruth Powers episode? Was it pretty accurate?

Nah, I'd definitely rank this above The Italian Bob.

I debated that, but I think this one is slightly worse.

    I don't understand.
You like seeing Bob out of character and having a family?

So since I think this is worse than "The Italian Bob", that makes the "The Italain Bob" an episode I like? Great logic...

"The Italian Bob" is awful, but I'd rather have Bob have a stupid family, than to watch him cut his face off and sew another face on. That was a new low, but besides that I think this episode was lazily written. Lisa conveniently discovering the whereabouts of Bart, that cheap "Bart called the cops prior" ending, Bob explaining his plan as if it's genius when he could have just killed him, etc. It was just plain awful.
