watching the show with a bunch of people

It happened when I saw the movie in theatres.
I felt that enjoyment I had for that little animated TV-series expanded in that big theatre, shared with hundreds of people.
Hearing all those people enjoy themselves with those yellow characters so dear to my heart gave me a theatre-experience unlike any other one I had before or afterwards. Call it a rare moment of synergy with total strangers.

I also remember watching THOH6 with a bunch of schoolpeople some years ago. There was a lot of chips and cola and there were some strange remarks about the ending feeling like the start of a live action/animation-crossover, but that could have been the booze inside the particular speaker of that phrase.

Other than that, it's mostly watching the Simpsons alone or with two.

Not really memorable stories, but maybe you have some...
So watching the Simpsons with a bunch of people, how did that turn out for you?
Describing memorable moments from Simpsons drinking-games are always welcome. (if people actually do that ?!?)

I and others tend to laugh harder when in a group.
Its a natural reaction, subliminally people feel safer in groups.
unconsciously folks will be wary of laughing at certain things with the un-approving eyes of others judging them, so its also a fact that people will laugh even harder amongst strangers the darker the room is.

Yeah I laugh more watching in a group, but this applies to any show. Watching post-classic Simpsons with my sister helps since she's the only one in my family who likes those episodes. I still laugh loads watching classic Simpsons on my own though.

The only time I usually ever laugh, unless I find something so unexpectedly funny that it's a natural reaction, is in a group setting. It's pretty fun watching the Simpsons in a group as long as people want to watch it in the first place. No drinking games for me though.

I like watching The Simpsons with friends. But I also find it enjoyable on my own. I noticed a lot of people laughing at the cinema of THE MOVIE. To be honest, I think I probably prefered it the second time watching it as I noticed a lot more stuff.

hearing people laugh makes you more inclined to laugh yourself, thats why when we watched some episodes of simpsons in school (being the end of the term or something), i couldn't stop laughing at things i normally wouldn't on my own

as for the simpsons movie - it was pretty bad because i was in a cinema with other people laughing, i didn't notice it that much. it was only until i watched it on channel 4 a few weeks ago that it struck me most of it was slapstick shit

rule = watching post-classic episodes with other people may make them seem better, epesically if the people are easily amused

I usually only watch the Simpsons with my brother or maybe one friend. But I must say that when I was in high school psycology class we watched "Lisa's First Word" and it was a blast watching it with so many people.

i went to uni 96-99... lived in shared student accomodation... 6 people to a house shared living room, tv etc. watching the simpsons during that time was like a group activity, The Simpsons was something that everyone of my peers at that time liked, and all our housemates watched it together, somtimes 10 plus people, friends of friends etc, the whole room laughing like crazy, I have very fond memerories of those times

'Life On The Fast Lane' was one of the few episodes that made my mother connect with The Simpsons. I always liked the thought of having shared that episode with her.

I've watched a couple of episodes with a friend or two on TV, but that's been a while and I watched the movie in school near the end of the schoolyear going into summer break.
Jimbo Jones: [about Homer] I hear that guy's ass has it's own congressman!
Bart Simpson: I wash myself with a rag on a stick.
Homer Simpson: [takes cap out of dryer and puts it on his head] Mmmmm... I CAN feel three types of softness.
Lisa Simpson: [from upstairs] Dad, what are you doing down there?
Homer Simpson: Washing my fat guy's hat honey!

I much prefer to watch it alone, because if I'm watching with a bunch of people who aren't hardcore fans, I can't help but point out things and roll my eyes at some of the things some people laugh at.

    Like Jockey Elves? SORRY

But yeah, I definitely feel you tend to laugh more if you're with other people, however there's a flip side to that coin as I watched 'The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed' with 4 or 5 friends and it was so AWKWARD, you know coz nobody even smiled once, yet alone a laugh...as for The Simpsons movie, I've only watched it all the way through once, as in when it first came out. Weird since I laughed and enjoyed it when I first seen it, but within a year I had NO DESIRE to watch it again because on reflection: The Simpsons Movie is fucking awful, unfunny and lame.

i've watched episodes like kill the alligator and run and simpsons safari with friends, and i find myself laughing at times. i don't sit there and nitpick, i just watch and laugh, with a couple exceptions. one of my coworkers was over the other day and the parent rap was on, so i just found something else to watch.

It's kind of awkward when I'm watching with others and they're laughing and I have a straight face... then again, sometimes it's more enjoyable. I think I'm going to have to side with the people who like watching it alone.
Favourite/least favourite by seasons that I own (somewhat stolen from Financial Panther):

    3 - Dog of Death/When Flanders Failed 4 - Lisa's First Word/So it's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show 5 - Secrets of a Successful Marriage/Bart's Inner Child 6 - And Maggie Makes Three/Another Simpsons Clip Show 7 - Marge Be Not Proud/Bart the Fink 8 - Homer's Phobia/The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase 9 - King of the Hill/Trash of the Titans 10 - Wild Barts Can't Be Broken/Maximum Homerdrive

That's so true! Pretty much my predicament whenever I watch it with someone else.

Besides, I like to over analyse the silliest things, so staying alone in my dark, closed room makes it easier!
