This was a return to form. Not amazing, but had plenty of funny moments and a couple awesome ones (the reveal of Snooki being one).

I thought it was alright. I think I actually liked last week's better though. The premise of the episode and the elements that go with that just seemed a little overdone--an extended spoof on some show most South Park viewers have never seen (or care little about), a wave of obnoxious people threatening to overrun the town complete with gory results (Grey Dawn, Night of the Living Homeless, Die Hippie Die), and some pointless scenes like Randy brutally torturing the guy.

There were still a fair number of laughs (Randy's "We got him!" at the end in particular), and the backstory with Sheila was a highlight, but overall it was pretty forgettable. 3/5

Yeah in terms of the "town invasion" thing, I couldn't help but feel a bit of deja vu of elements from "Grey Dawn", "Die Hippie Die", etc etc. This wasn't the "freshest" episode really. Still waiting on this run to give us something truly creative and entertaining as a whole ("Crippled Summer" for example).

I was actually quite impressed. Sure it felt rehashed, but the whole first act revolving around Kyle learning he's a Jersey boy was kind of fresh. The whole Al-Qaeda suicide ending really is funny to tell people about who didn't watch it. And unlike most over-dramatizations, this one actually had humor, especially Cartman telling Kyle he smelled raspberries. Trey and Matt scared the shit out of me because I thought it would wind up being two parts, but luckily that didn't happen. I despise those. I have been very pleased with both episodes this half season, which is saying something because I was dreading watching last night's episode.

I wanted to hate this for treading such familiar, beaten ground, but...

that last act was fucking hysterical. Also for some reason I was disappointed that they killed Osama at the end.

I pretty much follow the concensus good, not great

Although I couldn't help but rather amuse as the supper scene basicly show what South Park went through in term art shift over the years

we should start to tally recurring south park plotlines (town invaded, government conspiracy, etc.).

it was okay, like people have said the last act sort of redeemed it.

Episode was easily better than last week's but it doesn't mean a whole lot. Laughed Snooki and strangely at Al Qaeda. Bin Laden dying made me crack up but I think it was mostly due to surprise. Though I'm not sure why I would be surprised. Last act was definitely the only good part of the episode, otherwise.

This week's looks like Stan and Mr. Mackey have a problem with hoarding. Looks awesome.

Wow nobody posted about this? I thought the episode was hilarious! Kid Mr. Mackey was so awesome I was hoping they'd somehow just turn him into a permanent kid character from now on. They did the Hans Zimmer guy a couple too many times, but that's it. Butterfly Randy, the owl, the Inception cast, the pizza man... so many good moments.

Last night's ep would have been good if it wasn't for that hoarding specialist (why in the Hades was he singing when people were trying to explain things?)!

I'd love to steal all of Mackey's toys....particulary the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots!

  18. #168

    Really liked this one

Funny how they threw Matt Hasselbeck in there for seemingly no reason

It was a parody of the dramatic/overblown score for Inception.

"Butterflies have no concern for such things, Stan. I'm gonna go find me some butterfly poon."

Too bad I didn't see Inception; that would have made it ten times better. Still, felt quite fresh. Recurring jokes pretty much worked this time because there was a lot of humor outside of them. Kid Mackey was hilarious - but a tween in the late 80's/early 90's? Jeez, I would have guessed early 70's for Mr. Mackey's childhood.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. The only things that got old were the sheep hoarder and the "music" guy.

Also I do hate how lazy South Park has become with setting up their episode plots, though. You never get to see things in South Park just being "normal", they always just blatantly dive right into the conflict like within the first 30 seconds. On the other hand, it means more time can be devoted to developing the real story, and at least they don't waste the entire first act with filler and one liners like The Simpsons tends to do.

  23. #173

Eh, the inception episode was my least favorite so far. I just didn't laugh at any of it and most the "making fun of the music" and complex plot explanation jokes got not only old, but annoying too. I also agree it was kind of lazy and forced how quickly it all went overboard. I much preferred the other two episodes.

I thought "Insheeption" was GREAT. This is the South Park I love. The writing seemed focused, it was hilarious and as far as the parodying went it was amazing. I honestly believed this episode was amazing....I may just be in a daze but I thought this was generally a terrific episode. SP's true return to form. I give it a 5/5. Finally Trey....finally.

EDIT: Kid Mackey was full of win. If you didn't like Kid Mackey, go play in traffic.

Hey, look what's on! It's Zoom!

  26. #176

Heh not bad not really lought out loud but the story was better thought

but is that me or up until the inception crew arrives its more like the Cell (minus the weird aspect) than inception (but I think they basicly didn't understood Inception enough to make something out of it)

The whole background music got boring after a while (and the sheep herder should have been only one time thing)

But Freddy as Rambo was a very neat idea as with the reason of his hoarding

I can't quite decide between a 3 and 3,5, the jokes were pretty lackluster, but had a lot of good idea, although didn't use them to their full extend (so maybe its like inception, considering that a lot explaining need to be done)

Heh, I must say while I didn't do the connection despiste seeing the sketch in question, but that was a while ago (thought kinda make you think about how the plot seem to shift from the cell to inception midway through)

The Coon returns with a load of sidekicks to try and save victims of the BP oil spill.

This could go either way. I can see it being hilarious (kids acting their age and essentially playing "superheroes", oblivious to the fact that they're not making a difference whether they're in New Orleans or not). Or it could be a complete flop (government adventures, all plot and no humor, kids not displaying their true personalities or childish attitudes). And since when did South Park episodes get finished halfway through the weekend?
