22.19: "The Great Springfield Swap Meet Trilogy"
--When The Lovejoys, Ned and the Boys, and Homer & Marge get together for a Sunday lunch after church, Lovejoy makes a speech about how 'god & fate' brought about the lives (and loss) of the three families. However, when Homer brings up the "What-if" factor and three stories ensue about things might've turned out:
ONE: "Homer'n Maude"
--When Marge turns Homer down for the prom date for creeping her out, Homer meets a very unruly and drunk Maude Bixbie. After getting drunk himself, Homer falls for Maude and they become a travelling musical act that meets moderate success, and then they decide to move back to Springifeld.
TWO: "Ned and Hellen"
--Ned's romance with Hellen takes shape after he graduates from Oral Roberts University, but when Hellen wants Ned to take it to the next level and become a minister, however, when the shy Ned refuses and Hellen leaves with the kids, leaving Ned to despair. Instead, Ned takes to the radiowaves to promote his own right-wing agenda and takes the job Birch Barlowe would've had.
THREE: "Tim and Marge:
--When Timothy Lovejoy meets Marge Bouvier at a protest at Planned Parenthood, the two are instantly attracted to eachother, but instead of going to seminary school, Tim's infatuation with Ms. Bouvier leads to Marge becoming pregnant out of wedlock and Tim's parents dissaprove. Unfortunetly, Marge is 'blessed' with seven other kids and to make ends meet, their life has (to) become a reality show just to pay the bills and that's really putting a strain on their relationship.
22.20: "Success for Dummies"
Lisa's gift to Bart for his birthday, an artistic posing dummy, yields a bizzarre effect--Bart actually hated the gift and painted a caricature of himself in the dummy and is making fun of Lisa via ventrilaquist act. Not upset, but rather shocked at how bart can do his bit without moving his lips, Lisa encourages Bart to take it to the next level--public acess cable and when Gabbo and his handler notice Bart has talent, they recruit him. However Krusty's pissed his former Number 1 fan has gone to the "Dark Side" and Bart is unaware that Gabbo is attempting to us Bart to launch his own comeback.
22.21: "Welcome to the Sidelife" (season finale)
Homer and Marge are late for Lisa's recital, as usual, but when they arrive they find Lisa has been in an accident in the parking lot. From Lisa's POV, she sees Homer and Marge looking down at her, followed by a bright light, and what appears to be heaven. Talking with God, she sees the world continue on without her and the family grow older and she's also given the chance to relive her life as a normal 8yr old and not as a gifted one. However, when Lisa hates how she turns out, she begs God to be sent back to the accident and she awakens, hurt. Her beliefs shaken, Lisa is now questioning herself and if she witnessed was all a dream, or is there really a higher power that was at work?
