    Rate/Review: South Park Season 13

Rate all of the episodes from this past SP season.

Well I want to begin this by saying....this was by far my least liked Season. The fact is that I actually liked Season Twelve more than this Season. Season Thirteen consisted of mostly forgettable episodes, uninspired plots, overly extended jokes, and at times lazy writing.

I'm not going to sit here and lie and tell you I absolutely hated this Season....I loved The Ring, Butters' Bottom Bitch, Dances with Smurfs and Fishsticks. Those were the only episodes I felt had that SP Charm. Margaritaville was brilliant I must admit...just not as enjoyable to me now as it was at first.

This Season overall was the driest Season M&T have ever made, in my opinion. I had high hopes for it initially, sadly it dwindled down a hell of a lot during this last half. Here are my scores:

    The Ring - 5/5
    The Coon - 3/5
    Margaritaville - 3/5
    Eat, Pray, Queef - 2.5/5
    Fishsticks - 5/5
    Pinewood Derby - 2/5
    Fatbeard - 3/5
    Dead Celebrities - 3.5/5
    Butters' Bottom Bitch - 4/5
    W.T.F - 2/5
    Whale Whores - 3.5/5
    The F Word - 2.5/5
    Dances with Smurfs - 5/5
    Pee - 2.5/5

    Overall Grade: C
Not impressed....I hope M&T step it up next Season....

It was a pretty good season, better than the last 2 or 3. This season had a cople of stinkers (Pee, Eat Pay Queef) but I liked most of it. Grades comong asap.

The first half wasn't bad, with "Queef" being the only terrible episode, but the second half was horrible. Using the same unfunny joke over and over for a whole episode for the past few years has really gotten on my nerves. I hate it. My least favourite season of South Park.

    The Ring - 3/5
    The Coon - 4/5
    Margaritaville - 2.5/5
    Eat, Pray, Queef - 1/5
    Fishsticks - 4/5
    Pinewood Derby - 3/5
    Fatbeard - 3/5

    Dead Celebrities - 3/5
    Butters' Bottom Bitch - 2.5/5
    W.T.F - 4/5
    Whale Whores - 1/5
    The F Word - 1/5
    Dances with Smurfs - 2/5
    Pee - 1/5

    Average - 2.5/5

Overall I'd give the season a 2.5/5, not very good but not completely awful.

I'd say a C: some eps were good, some not.

The whole season is best described as "South Park on cruise control"

    3/5, maybe.

South Park really does have a lot of filler these days. To be fair, it's still RELEVANT filler, but excess fluff nonetheless. The main thing I'm referring to is the surplus of repeating a joke or central idea throughout the episode, building it up in a predictable way (ex. the cop servicing men looking for prostitutes in increasingly explicit ways, the Japanese repeatedly killing whales and dolphins in various locations, Kanye West not getting the fish stick joke, the show repeatedly criticizing Whale Wars in the same way, Mickey Mouse being a jerk, BRBRRRBBBRBBBRB, the monkeys' fury while being peed on, Cartman repeatedly making up bigger and bigger lies about Wendy...wow, they do this a lot). While this has always sort of been a staple of the show, I think people are getting tired of the laziness by this point. It makes the episodes predictable.

That's the main thing really, predictability and filler. When we see a man put a bullet through his temple because his son did something as minor as lose the Pinewood Derby, it isn't funny. We've seen overblown reactions a zillion times on this show, so all element of shock is lost and you're just left with an annoying, uncomfortable scene. Same with the beginning of Smurfs--more pointless dark humor that goes on way too long and is just...well, depressing, in all honesty. I guess there's an element of humor in the fact that the guy mistook the kid for a middle aged trucker, but who can honestly say they enjoyed hearing a kid begging for his life while a nutcase shot and killed three people (himself included)? How about the five or six different scenes of feudal Japanese spearing through marine creatures?

Why do they do this stuff? I know the show is about pushing the envelope, but they used to pull off disgusting-funny quite often (Simpsons Did It, Scott Tenorman, Death Camp of Tolerance, Proper Condom Use, Woodland Critter Christmas), and somewhere along the line, they lost the "funny" part of it. Granted, it's not as bad as it was around season 11, but I'm still sick of it.

In other words, clever and gross can be hilarious together, but if you don't have a strong enough element of humor, it falls completely flat.

So MORE FUNNY, LESS FILLER, and LESS NASTINESS, UNLESS SAID NASTINESS IS FUNNY.

pinewood derby was the only good episode of this season.

it just sucked. i dont know why everybody liked the ring so much. that was horrible. and fishsticks was dumb also.

what a crap season. i honestly am starting to lose faith in south park. i didnt even see the last episode. i saw maybe 10 minutes of it and then just walked away.

    season 13- 1 out of 5

The most recent seasons are gonna be incredibly dated in a couple of years too. I mean seasons 1-9 had plenty of relevant episodes but it seems like it's almost every week now they're doing a parody of some current event.

I also agree with NoOneFamous, it was like South Park on cruise control, except the speed wasn't set very high. Maybe more like South Park on autopilot, just producing the generic stuff it's come to do naturally and without too much thought.

I agree with everything Triforce said. The overblown reactions and extreme violence are just used too much and have lost their impact. I would much prefer to see, say, that guy in Pinewood Derby just whining like a spoilt brat. Would've been much funnier.

This Season wasn't great, IMO there were no "perfect" episodes, but there were a few really good ones. Anyway, my marks...

    The Ring: 3
    The Coon: 4
    Margaritaville: 3½
    Eat, Pray, Queef: 4
    Fishsticks: 4½
    Pinewood Derby: 3
    Fatbeard: 4½

    Dead Celebrities: 4½
    Butters' Bottom Bitch: 4
    W.T.F: 4½
    Whale Whores: 2
    The 'F' word: 2½
    Dances with Smurfs: 4
    Pee: 4½

I mentioned it in another thread, but anyone fancy a South Park "best episode ever" tourney? Feels like ages since we did any of these.
