    Rate & Review: South Park - W.T.F

"The boys have found their new calling in life and they hurry to sign up for the wrestling club. They soon find out the kind of wrestling they teach at school is not the same thing they saw at the WWE. The boy’s wrestling coach has the same problem. He’s been struggling for years to get people to see the difference."

I'm surprised there isn't a thread yet. I haven't seen the episode, and I'll add my review when I do.

Great stuff. I loved it. The boy's wrestling storylines were hilarious ("addicted to abortions" really made me laugh). I didn't like how it started turning into more singing/acting stuff later on, but Vince McMahon with opera glasses more than made up for it. And having the fans turn on them when they actually start fighting was a good little twist. Kenny dieing again was good to see. All the fans being rednecks was cliche but "they took our jobs!" still makes me laugh. The wrestling coach's wrestling movies being mistaken for gay porn was a fun running gag.
Enjoyed the subtle references to the ballon boy incident in the newspapers too.

My favourite episode this season so far.

They took a well-known "wrestling is just acting" standard and elevated it to clever new heights. That's what SP usually does best, and as such, this definitely one of the top 3 of season 13. Good stuff!

I really liked it. It was kind of predictable but still lots of fun.

I finally gave up watching (pro?)wrestling years ago, but I sure identified with everything that happened in this episode. I like how real wrestling and a real unstaged fight amoungst the boys held no interest for the crowd.

I saw it all, and I was impressed. I liked some of the wrestling references they had in there (ie. Token dressed as R-Truth, Kenny as Rey Mysterio, etc.) It went in a different direction than I thought they would, I thought it would be more of a critique of the WWE rather than wrestling as a whole (they also missed out on targeting a huge portion of the audience: "smart" fans on the internet).

It's also a bit out of date. These days, the WWE is about 60% story, 40% wrestling, as opposed to in the 80s when many of the big names couldn't wrestle a great match to save their lives (ie.Hogan, André the Giant (though he was much better during his heyday), The Ultimate Warrior, Dusty Rhodes, Sid, etc.) and the 90s, when there were a lot of Springer-esque stories (although to be fair, a lot of the big names, like Austin and The Rock, could hold their own in matches). South Park really could have done this story in the late 90s, during the Attitude Era boom, then it would have been a lot more poignant.

Still, they did a great job with holding theatre tryouts and calling it wrestling (that is pretty much what current Diva wrestling is: Playboy models with no wrestling (or acting) talent), it was a nice twist to the "wrestling is fake debate."

    4/5.

It was really great. I was really surprised how much I laughed. I loved that the stupid people of South Park believed that 8-year-olds are married and have 20-yeas-old kids, but what I enjoyed most of all was that stadium. Came out of nowhere and built in a backyard. And it has VIP boxes. Just awesome.
    Easily a 5/5.

Another great episode! The Cena bit where he said "I slept with your girlfriend" was so out of character for him I nearly bust a gut. It's like they intentionally made Edge look like the good guy.

Cartman and Butters in position was priceless, as was the "gay porn". I like how Stan's jacket was very Stone Cold like, and Kenny's Lita shirt.

I loved the return of the rednecks and my most quoted South Park moment "Dey turk our jerbs!"

Did anybody else notice that after Kenny dies, he can be heard arguing with Cartman off-screen at the end of the episode?

My only gripe with the episode was the bad Vince McMahon impression, but other than that it was great.

    DEY DERK ER JERRR

I am not a fan of wresting, or even "wrastling", but this was a brilliant satire on the sport in general. Vince McMahon's opera glasses just made it even funnier.

I liked it, especially how the predictable part ("pro" wrestling fans try out for the school wrestling team, disappointed in the difference) came and went within 3 minutes. Once again, we get a concept (wrestling is like performance art) and it is just expanded and exaggerated to the point of being an absurd, but kind of accurate portrait. The humor seemed to come less from the boys and more from the "crowd." "Sir, take your gay porn and get the fuck out of here." is one of those lines that is so simple (perhaps even predictable) but is delivered in such a frank and deadpan way that it ends up being one of the funniest parts of the episode. Pretty much an ideal episode, though not exactly great.

When I first heard the premise of the episode, I sighed, because I assumed it was gonna be another big conspiracy thing about the reason behind wrestling being fake, or riots starting as people began to figure out it was fake.

Instead, they took the much more clever route of having everyone (sans the wrestling coach) being perfectly ok with wrestling being about acting. It felt like a callback to the early seasons - no current event parodies and only the kids were in it. Kenny died again - every time he has died in the last few seasons it has been done in a clever way, and this was no exception.

I actually wish they would have taken the whole "real wrestling is pretty gay looking" joke a little further and spent less time on the lines the kids were making up.

Loved both twists at the end.

    3.5/5 (I rated 3/5, although it's somewhere between)

Decent, not great. Seemed to drag out one joke, but it livened it up every now and then, but not as good as the previous two. Still, we still have yet to encounter anything lower than 3/5, so on par with the season...

I noticed Cartman yelling at Kenny (who has "spoken" every episode this half-season, btw - awesome) at the end and it confused the heck out of me. Either he didn't actually die (the whole "acting" angle) or it's a mistake, possibly to be fixed for future airings. The opera glasses were hilarious. Very fun episode. 5/5

Awesome ep. The entire time I sat there asking unnecessary questions only which made it even funnier for me. "where are the parents?" "how did they get a ring..?" "where are the costumes from?" "how the fuck do they have a skybox in Cartman's backyard??" None of which matters but makes me fucking love it.

This was bizarre in a really really awesome way. I felt like the episode was ultimately just meandering along and not really going anywhere, which threw me out of it ever-so-slightly, but on the other hand, it was completely hysterical.

I love it when the boys just act like boys and the stage and lights and all of that just popping up out of nowhere was hilarious. Fantastic Kenny death as well, it's been a while since the last one so that took me by surprise (well, I was surprised until the rocket landed in the ring, then it was obvious what was going to happen).

Oh. I don't even know. The episode was strange but it was really, really funny and very entertaining. Very, very much so.

Well, since the South Park seasons are being released uncensored on DVD now starting with season 11, it would be kinda pointless to air them on TV that way (Since it would detract from that novelty of hearing it unbleeped when you buy it).

Other than that, it's just Comedy Central's own basic censors.

Solid 3, give it a 4 if you like or liked wrasslin.

Too much of the same joke over and over. It was GOOD, but just too much.

Loved the return of "They turk err jerbs!!" with the additional "They broke his jaw" etc. Damn funny episode throughout. I had no idea what everyone in the season 13 thread was talking about with "greco roman style" or whatever, but loved its representation in the episode ("take your gay porn and get out!").

    Best episode for ages, 5/5.

Greco Roman style is a style of international wrestling where you are prohibited from attacking your opponents legs or using your legs offensively.

So really, besides balance and movement, you must use everythign from the waist up.

This encourages action as most of the take down attempts in either slams or throws.

For example, a belly to back suplex dropping an opponent on his head can be worth a ton of points. (1pt for lifting your opponent off his feet, 1 point for control if you show that you are controlling the momentum as opposed to just rocking out the move, 5 points if your opponent lands on his head or shoulders, and 1 point for aggression, which should be obvious. Plus if the opponent lands on his shoulders, it could be an touche fall, resulting in an instant win.)

    Best. Sport. Ever.

I used to love Greco tournaments.
