    windows 7 is freakin sweet

    http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10374323-56.html

Microsoft on Tuesday plans to announce a deal with News Corp.'s Fox that will see Microsoft sponsoring a TV show that will merge a pitch for Windows 7 with the comedic stylings of "Family Guy" voices Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein.

The show, dubbed "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show," will air Sunday, November 8, at 8:30 p.m. (ET and PT). There won't be any commercial breaks; just Windows 7 built into the story line.

In a statement, Microsoft and Fox said they hope to "bring the old 'Texaco Star Theater'-style sponsorships into the 21st century." MacFarlane, creator and primary voice of "Family Guy," and Borstein, voice of the series' Lois character, teamed with the folks from Microsoft, as well as Redmond's ad agencies--Universal McCann, and Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, to create the show.

This really is a new low I can't believe they could stoop to this. I've lost what little respect I had left for Microsoft!!!

"Yeah, that only works when I do it." Actually, it doesn't even work then.

Oh, and hey, another joke about how pointless Twitter is. Never heard that before.

Windows 7 already? I guess Vista really did bomb. Don't think I've ever even used it. I'm fine with XP, have been for years.

The Simpsons and Family Guy are both Sell Outs. The point is, every ones buying into this Family Guy stuff. I'm a fan myself but it seems like the entire world is bowing down to the family.

microsoft found out what family guy is and now they're backing out of it

Face? Meet palm. Microsoft's decided to pull out of its co-sponsoring of "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show" after execs attending the taping came to the sudden conclusion that Family Guy-caliber jokes were to be told, tackling such topics as "deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest." We're not sure how 10 years and over 120 episodes of offensive precedence bypassed Redmond's radars, but man, that's gotta be some strong personal bubble. A Microsoft representative said of the taping, "it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand." The show will still air November 8th, pre-recorded Microsoft references in tow, but with a new as-of-yet unnamed sponsor. All we have of the now-doomed partnership is this brief video from the Windows "741" student site -- it's after the break.

Too bad they still air this thing. But you know what, maybe I'll watch it. Should be fun to see pointless microsoft jokes that don't go anywhere now. That's what you get if you pretape a live show.

They should change the references to diss M$ and get Apple to sponsor it.

Or just at the end of that scene posted online, have Brian say "Wait, you're using a Mac".

A Microsoft representative said of the taping, "it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand."
I don't get it: are they or are they not trying to attract the college-age audience that buys not only computers the most, but macs as well? I know Microsoft tries to go for a more professional take on things, but the whole marketing campaign of Windows 7 is pretty much, "We're as cool and creative as a Mac! See?"

If they wanted something squeaky-clean, they should've tried tying it in with the Disney Channel. Or, better yet, the Simpsons...

I have to say I sort of agree with the article, it all sounds like it's in terrible taste as usual but I do sort of give him some props for sticking to his guns with FG's terrible taste instead of vanillaing it up to please Microsoft.
