Yeah, seriously, must we put characters into rigidly defined pigeon holes? Did you think Lisa was SOOOO out of character in the Simpsons movie? But if it makes you feel better to explain why it was not OOC: Lisa was provoked by Bart to enter the ring.
I was... attacking? 'k.
No, really, please explain how it's a "huge deal" though because honestly? I don't see it, and that post was largely me just trying to work it out.
The character wasn't "changed". It was a brief gag with no bearing on the episode and if you're going to complain about Lisa being OOC, then I'd first point fingers at the "control your woman" line (which the writers were well aware of and incorporated this fact in her dialogue, but that doesn't change the fact that it is not something she's likely to say - still funny though).
Physically fighting with her sibling, who was the one to initiate challenge in the first place (Lisa did not antagonize as she has done in the Ullman shorts) is not a character reversion. Do you act consistently 100% of the time? You never have a moment - brief as it may be (and seriously, the speed with which this joke passes is definitely relevant) - where you do something people wouldn't expect of you, that they'd say was "out of character" for you?
She's still a little girl. She beat up an older boy. It wasn't the first time and it probably won't be the last in her life.
I really hated it, even though it was only 15 seconds. I thought Lisa was incredibly OOC and I hate the Ullman Lisa even more than her regular self. Also, I refuse to believe that Lisa could knock Bart out in one punch. I know it's just a small gag, but the fact that there's nothing that I like about it and the fact that the episode was going strong until that gag pisses me off. From now on, when I watch this episode, I'll stop watching just before this gag. Just my two cents.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Everything happens for a reason.
Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.
Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

maggie can shoot a man but can't lisa knock out a 10 year old boy?
Lisa at her best is possibly the best character of the show, but there's no way I'd agree that this moment in question is actually a positive for her or even neutral. Thankfully the show is so far away from its former self that I really don't care about what happens in these episodes anymore. That moment aside, I found she along with the rest of the family in this episode were not very likeable to begin with.
I don't know, I don't see why Lisa being used this way somehow diminishes her character. She gets to do stupid things too, even intelligent people are reckless in real life. If she were always thoughtful and saint like, she'd be a terrible character. That's not why I like her anyways. Half of her best moments in the show wouldn't have worked if she weren't a little reckless, occasionally hypocritical, or just "what the heck let's do it lol".
And she's had tomboy tendencies since like, the beginning. I don't know, it's a 15 second joke. I'm done.

Dude, it's only a cartoon, if your taking this gag so seriously you consider it as an offence, then you really need to broaden your line on fiction and reality. To be honest, there was stabs at Lisa too, as well as Bart - do you remember the line: "Can't you handle your woman!"? So the ratio of hurt fans is fine in terms of this episode.
the gag at the end was one of the highlights of the episode for me. I don't understand why anybody would have a problem with it.
remember Lisa betting the crap out of the bullies in Lisa on Ice?
she's pretty strong

Oops forgot to post my review.
Pretty decent, some meh jokes throughout, but a consistent storyline that was broadened quickly, characterisations were poor and there were loads of inconsistencies that I noticed (why would edna be protesting with Luanne and co, I didn't think she gave two hoots about the kids? Barney in the stadium and the bar - I don't know if there was intentional, or some storyboarder messed up...)
The Good
Strong if unoriginal storyline that doesn't feel bland, but very natural - although Marge and the owner of the stadium's fight should have been longer, imo.
zooming in on the rats
marge's painting
yey! Lisa punched Bart (sorry Trab)
The Bad
Lame, mildly irritating jokes scattered throughout the episode.
Marge the Donkey
Bit apprehensive and disliking the idea of Marge getting into a fight. It's like breaking some kind of characterisation barrier, which doesn't happen alot nowadays like "Hurricanne Neddy". This different change of character is what makes it such an intriguing and very watchable episode however.
Overall, this was a strange episode, much different to the normal season 20-style imo, it didn't make me laugh - but it kept me hooked, I guess this is a story-based ep. like The Wandering Juvie and Boys Of Bummer, but with Marge in the front seat instead of Bart. So it gets a 3/5 from me. Currently sitting at the best episode of the season so far.

Still, it's easier for someone to shoot someone if they have acess to a gun than to knock someone out.
... How do you explain a baby operating a firearm with such proficiency?
Um, it's DEFINITELY easier for a little girl to knock out a slightly older boy than for that to happen.
You're making ridiculous excuses that have no basis in logic or reality.
Man this episode was much MUCH better than the two prior to it. I really enjoyed it and even went overboard and voted 5 so I must be mad.

I love this episode, but is not perfect.
4/5 o 8,5/10

i think it's incredibly ridiculous to analyze that gag so much, and how it is not "believable".
A baby does not have the strength to lift a rifle, let alone aim it at someone and then actually pull the trigger. Seriously. Just stop.
Athletic people can easily be knocked out, even by younger girls. There is a far greater chance of that happening than a baby being able to operate a gun.
I'm sorry
I still don't like it, but I'll stop analyzing it.
I would say Lisa is pretty athletic. She can pin her brother (Springfield Connection), was the MVP for her hockey team and beat up the bullies, and she has participated in sports like gymnastics and soccer. She can run pretty fast too, as seen in an episode like "Trilogy Of Error". So, in a harmless sibling fight, it's definitely not unbelievable for Lisa to knock out a ten year old boy. I can understand how some people don't care for how she acted afterwards, but this gag wasn't meant to be looked in that context or analyzed. I'm surprised that this gag has been given so much attention, yet it's perfectly fine for the crazy cat lady to bowl a cat. Oh wait, she's crazy, so it works. Just kidding. I don't care. Although, the gag still is lame.
.

I know I said that I would leave this alone, but I just watched the part of the ending I missed, where Lisa knocks out Bart and it makes me hate it even more. Sorry, but I hate Lisa's reaction.
Sorry, I just had to get that out.

Well looks like you didn't.
Lisa's reaction was brilliant, the highlight of the knocking out of Bart imo, leaving Bart defenseless and down. Lisa getting back at Bart this way after all the pranks he has pulled on her, is very gratifying for me.
Now, I will definately leave it alone. I promise. Before, I just had to vent.

wouldnt it be stupid if bart knocked out lisa?
oh wait, that would be good, because you hate lisa.
