This was pure garbage. First of all, what a stupid idea for a spin-off. Cleveland is not a deep enough character to have his own show not in a million years. Even Seth should realize how stupid that is. And to make it worse, Richard Appel is an Executive Producer (what the hell, you used to be a good writter?)

There's absolutaly nothing worthwhile in this episode. Stupid jokes, stupid plot, this is basically Family Guy with black people. That bear as neighbor was ridiculos even for this show.

The premise wasn't bad, but the execution was generally weak. The dialogue was Family-esque and the whole thing reeked of mediocrity.

American Dad,.. now Thats a Family Guy spin off! AmeriDad is often good enough to make me forget its spawned from FG at times.
Cleveland is like getting an extra dose of Famguy, and I'm not sure I can deal with that at this time.

Ignoring any bitterness I may or may not hold towards MacFarlane shows now that King of the Hill has essentially been replaced...

I thought this wasn't terrible. I will give it credit for at least feeling slightly different than Family Guy for most of it, with a somewhat more character-driven story. But at the same time, we get the usual boring angles, stiff animation, stock expressions/poses, and an identical style to the other two Seth shows. Rallo's lines all could've come from Stewie's mouth. Cleveland Jr. feels like the standard vehicle for fat jokes. And as always, another dull, forgettable wife.

It feels pretty been-there, done-that, albeit a bit more story-driven. Still not really enough for me to tune in again though.

I admit there are moments - several moments - where I really wanted to like the show. I really tried, you know? I don't want to dislike Seth Macfarlane or his shows. I don't like them on an individual basis, certainly. ANd this show...This show's fault? I started to like it a couple of times, but then it went straight into Family Guy territory, non-stop. Whenever it feels like it's distancing itself it reminds you it's Family Guy. For a minute, I actually started to LIKE the characters, but it just didn't keep that way.

Oh well. Still, 2/5. Maybe a 3/5 on a future viewing, but just...Eh. Ironically, I used to like Family Guy before I started regularly watching the Simpsons. Go figure.

I watched the leaked one months ago but I decided what the heck, I'd see it again on TV.

I still don't think it was -that- bad, its trying to go for something more character driven definitely but I do have to admit its dropped a lot for me. I think the thing that really bugs me about it is it constantly feels like its advertising itself...to the point I wonder if that in itself is supposed to be some sort of joke, but I think I'd be giving the writers too much credit there. I honestly don't know where this show could possibly go after this one episode.

It took Matt Groening ten years to produce a second animated series, and it was extremely different and truly excellent animated television.

It took Seth MacFarlane six years to create second animated series, very similar to Family Guy, and then four years later he yet again creates a third animated series similar to Family Guy.

If you look carefully, notice that three of the families look alike !

I don't care for any of the MacFarlane shows, but I notice that the one that appears to have the most effort ("American Dad") has now taken "King of the Hill"'s place as the show that gets no hype in the advertising.

This is the thing I hate the most: a lineup where most of the shows are from the same person and are of the same formula. Now, I did make the case about some people who had shows back-to-back like Groening and Chuck Lorre (creator of shows from "Dharma and Greg" to "The Big Bang Theory") but they at least made their shows different from one another in many ways with setup, characters, plots, and joke structures.

As far as the show goes, however: it sucked. Big time.

The Simpsons - family sitcom
Futurama - workplace, single guy, sci-fi sitcom
The Critic - workplace, single guy, movie-parody sitcom
Mission Hill - college, single guy sitcom
Sit Down Shut Up - high school, workplace sitcom

Now look at MacFarlane:
Family Guy - family sitcom
Cleveland Show - family sitcom
American Dad - family sitcom

I actually liked the episode and thought it had a lot of good gags and the reason for Cleveland moving was pretty solid. The only thing I didn't like was how we randomly find out Cleveland was an all star baseball player and high school and was friends with Joe Tori. Other than that it was not bad for a pilot. 3/5

Well, I'll be honest. I didn't go into this with a very open mind. Family Guy has never been one of my favorite shows, and it's felt pretty tired for some time now. Cleveland was never one of the funnier characters on that show even in it's glory days.

So I expected not to like this, and it lived up to my expectations. This was pretty terrible. Not a single laugh in the entire episode. The flashbacks got old before this show began, which isn't a good sign for it.
