    yeah for some people...

wait what about your opinion, Bea? I never saw a single "I" or "me" in that sentence, are you speaking on behalf of the entire simpson community?

if a season such as s20, or s18, any late season, is compared, and actually considered BETTER, then that person has a rather in exquisite taste in TV IMO
erm I watch a huge range of TV and cinema, of British, American and Japanese, and even though I consider s20 to be the worst season of the show.

I find s18 to be a really good and enjoyable post-classic season, so I can see why D'ohmer's trying to stand up for his opinion - some people like stuff that you don't, get over it. Everyone has their own opinion and you know D'ohmer prefers the later seasons because they're probably more loose, fresh, relatable to the kids of the 00s or something. So please can we all just accept that some people like D'ohmer prefer different things?

As I feel like these age-old discussions will be the death of me.

you keep telling me to "get over it", when saying people have differing opinions. NO CRAP! I know people have differing opinions, and I respect theirs. This is a COMMUNITY DISCUSSION. Ergo, we all talk about our opinions on various things Simpsons-related. And when I see an opinion which is different then mine, or others', I try to understand why they feel that way, and d'ohmer doesn't really give reasons much for why he feels that way. I respect his opinion and I respect everyone else's opinions, I just like to know why they think certain ways. If someone says "My least favorite episode is Springfield Files" {in fact, there was a thread a few months back called "I Hate the Ep Springfield Files"}, I would naturally be curious to it because that is my favorite episode. And when people say how much they liked s20, I am curious as it is my least favorite {also, notice how many people say the "best episodes" from that season came AFTER the HD switch}.

and i know, sometimes my opinion can come off strong, but that's just my way. i'm not calling anyone out, and although i sometimes disagree with other people, i still respect their overall opinion, i just tend to want to know why they feel certain ways

I like D'ohmer simply because he dares to disagree with the majority. I don't agree with him but I agree with his principles so if people could just lay off...

EDIT: I also like him because he likes my 'The Simpsons Story' but that is besides the point.

it's all well and good he disagrees, but he rarely gives reasons why, he just says "Sorry, I disagree" or something similar.

I don't see it so much as daring to disagree with the majority as basically, politely trolling.

Like Bea is saying - this is a forum for discussion. Saying "sorry, but I disagree" and then not elaborating on that is not a discussion. Refusing to articulate yourself and basically just disagreeing with everyone left and right? Even if it's your personal preference - and that's totally fine - it's trolling. It's the nicest trolling I've ever seen, and "trolling" isn't really the appropriate word here given the connotations of the word, but, uh, yeah, it basically is what D'ohmer is doing if you get down to it.

Like, guys - it's okay to be a little dickish to one another. If you lose friendships over a Simpsons discussion, then that was kind of a weak friendship to begin with. You don't have to keep apologizing for having a different opinion. Just have your different opinion and if you actually do want to discuss, then back yourself up.

I'm not trying to troll, but you and Bea are right. I haven't really given a good reason whenever I say that I love the modern era, so I will try to do that now.

I love the new episodes because I think they are hilarious, but then again, so are the older episodes. I also think that the plots are more interesting, though and there is some great animation to top it all off (IMO).

I still love the oplder episodes, but for the reasons I've stated make me fail to see a decline.

Guys, I'm sorry if I've been sounding like a troll. I'm really not trying to.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

    Everything happens for a reason.

Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.

Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

i say this to my friends all the time, you don't have to answer tho, but every time I ask "Why do you like {insert show here}" and they say "Because, i thin kit is funny!" i'm like "OK, you think it's funny. But WHY?"

Basically, I ask them why does it make you laugh? The characters? Plots? What specifically makes you laugh when you watch this show?

Of course, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, I just do that a lot

I like how the jokes sometimes come out of nowhere and I find some of them really clever. Both eras have jokes like that (IMO).

You know, having opinions is ok, but having opinions without... you know what, fuck it. I'm not gonna argue with you. You just lost all of your credibility as a human being and became a full troll.

    YOU BE TROLLIN'!

YOU CALL SEASON 20 BEING CLEVERER THAN SEASON 5 A GOOD REASON!?

You're absolutely right, 100 points for you.

I just find the jokes as funny as season 5 (which is a good thing) and the plots more interesting, like Gone Maggie Gone and Eeny Teeny Maya Moe.

I just took 5 as an example. I really love seasons 4, 6, 8 and 3 as well. But D'ohmer, would you mind posting a picture of yourself here so we can see that you're no brainless posting robot?

I got another question to you:
Which show do you like better, Hannah Montana or Seinfeld?

i think we should make it mandatory, in some thread in city hall, that all people post a pic of themselves. just that way it would be a cool way to learn about members {there are several members here i really wish i knew what they looked like}.

and yea, SOME wackiness can be fun, but recently, in the past 3-4 seasons {if not more then that}, they have been taking it too far {same with a lot of the scully era}. i know you probably disagree...

I haven't seen either, Fox, but I'll go with Seinfeld just because I loathe Miley Cyrus and all that Disney crap.

You're right, Bea, I do disagree. I think that they have a good balance between seriousness and wackiness.

Anyway, anyone watching the Canada vs. US hockey game? If not, turn it on immediately. The greatest hockey game I've ever seen and much more interesting than this shit.

OK well here's a morsel... Season 3-8 are amongst the cleverest television ever made, while Seasons 18-20 are among the stupidest*. Therefore I put it to you that if you like Season 20 more than 5, you must not be clever enough to get all the jokes in Season 5.

    * This is a fact, not an opinion. Partial evidence: I started a thread about the cleverest jokes post Season 13, and it got 3 replies.

anyway... how's about them simpsons ratings, eh?
