haha i attributed to family guy's large viewership...
and what do you mean? They better stay on Sundays. They've been on Sundays for years, why would they change it?

Does DVR help there ratings? If so, yah I might have helped in a way too.
However I also watch The Simpsons, not that that matters.
Cuz A lot of The Simpsons fans need to stay tuned to increase the ratings.
Bart V.S Bob!
Bart fan!

I can't believe AD actually beat us...in viewers and in demo.
Looks like AD's on an upswing.
Last Nights Ratings on FOX:
'Til Death: 2.378 (fortunately, it's not listed on the fall schedule meaning "Death to 'Til Death!")
The Simpsons (repeat): 3.130
The Simpsons: 6.258
The Cleveland Show: 5.775
Family Guy: 7.585
American Dad: 5.822
The Bob Next Door did the best among episodes that aired after "Once Upon a Time in Springfield" even despite it was up against Survivor: Heroes vs Villians.
Maybe it had something to do with this episode being one that many were looking forward to since it was quoted to air as part of the 20th anniversary.

thanks, biff, i'll take it from here. the full numbers are as follows.
Simpsons - 6.258 (#3) - 2.9/9 (#2)
Cleveland - 5.775 (#4) - 2.7/8 (#3)
FamGuy - 7.585 (#3) - 3.8/10 (#2t)
American - 5.822 (#4) - 2.8/7 (#3)
I knew Heroes V.S Villains wouldn't affect the episode.
1. Bob episodes are always fun. Fans seem to like them.
2. There are many fans of Kelsey Grammer that stay tuned to them.
3. The promo image had many fans curious along with title since day one
Any who, glad it did good in the ratings. Thanks for the info.

family guy did better then simpsons again, guess that means it's the better show huh
but yay for decent ratings i guess, wish it was a better episode (IMO)
I bet all the Family Guy fans loved the Bob episode with all its wacky atrocities.

up against a special Lost airing, The Simpsons was down vs. last week, but so was Cleveland. FG's second Star Wars special did pretty well despite its early DVD release.
8:00 - The Simpsons - 5.793 (#3) - 2.5/8 (#2)
8:30 - Cleveland Show - 4.908 (#4) - 2.3/7 (#2)
9:00 - Family Guy - 5.125 (#4) - 3.0/8 (#2t)
9:30 - Family Guy - 6.385 (#4) - 3.2/8 (#2t)
I have noticed the ratings trend for this year.
The thirteen episodes that aired after OUATIS are the thirteen lowest rated episodes of the 21st season during their original airing.
The nine episodes aired before OUATIS came anywhere from 2nd to 10th place for season 21.
OUATIS is the highest rated episode obviously.
Over the last few years, I have noticed that the episodes that air during the football season have the tendency to get higher ratings. If FOX never got a hold of pro football in 1994, The Simpsons wouldn't have lasted as long as it has.
Now that FOX has cut American Idol to 90 minutes for the Tuesday episodes and 30 minutes for the Wednesday episodes for 2011, they could now more easily pair new episodes of the Simpsons with Americal Idol starting next year although FOX probably won't listen to me.

TS stay at 8. the schedule for next season has been released some time ago.

Better weather is also a contributing factor.
No, animation stays with other animation. Now that FOX has cut American Idol to 90 minutes for the Tuesday episodes and 30 minutes for the Wednesday episodes for 2011, they could now more easily pair new episodes of the Simpsons with Americal Idol starting next year although FOX probably won't listen to me.
Idol stays with feel good shows like Glee.
FOX has got the companionships on the mark - Glee and Idol have become an unbeatable force in the ratings and having animated comedies in the same 2 hour block is going to ensure that the audience of TS might possibly stay to watch the other animated comedies - therefore strengthening the block as a whole - so why mess with the scheduling?
Damn. Dem some bad ratings, espically for cleveland. Was simpsons lower than last years finale?
Yes, but barely lower.
The season 20 finale scored 5.86 million viewers
The season 21 finale scored 5.74 million viewers
In a few days, we will get the list of nielsen ratings for all shows and see what the annual average is and how it ranks compared with everything else.

Nielson Ratings have been released (source from Deadline)
Last season the Simpsons got 77th place in viewership (6.930 million average)
Last season Family Guy was ahead of it in 69th place in viewership (7.56 million)
This Season...
Simpsons rose to 61st place in viewership (7.208 million)
Whilst Family Guy also rose to 53rd place in viewership (7.732 million)
Family Guy also beat Simpsons in the A18-49 demo (21st vs. 33rd)
All in all these 2009-2010 rankings are worthless because
a) It's obvious Family Guy beats Simpsons in every thing (and yes Simpsons beat American Dad and The Cleveland Show too, I just couldn't be bothered to put it up.
b) The only reason the Simpsons viewership rose so much from last year was because of the "Once Upon a Time In Springfield" boost which got a shitload of viewers and demo because of the NFL playoffs airing before it.
So basically the Simpsons didn't really improve this year, and if viewers don't return next year, then we could possibly be overtaken by The Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers or AD in 2010/2011...![]()
The Simpsons were outranked by 10 FOX shows (11 if you count American Idol on Tuesday a separate show from American Idol on Wednesday which is what the list does).
THe Simpsons were outranked by the following FOX shows:
(1st) American Idol: Tuesday
(2nd) American Idol: Wednesday
(21st) House
(27th) 24
(29th) Bones
(33th) Glee
(34th) Human Target
(47th) Hell's Kitchen
(51st) Lie to Me
(53th) Family Guy
(58th) Fringe
(61st) The Simpsons
The Simpsons outranked the following FOX shows:
(64th) So You Think You Can Dance
(78th) The Cleveland Show
(84th) American Dad
(86th) COPS (2nd episode)
(91st) Americas Most Wanted
(95th) COPS (1st episode)
(97th) Past Life
(103rd) Sons of Tucson
(105th) Kitchen Nightmares
(112th) Dollhouse
(115th) Brothers
(116th) Til Death
Boldfaced shows are not renewed for next season
I am sure that The Simpsons will get a 22nd and at least a 23rd season since the ratings probably won't slip extremely low plus season 23 will have the 500th episode which will be overhyped as a last ditch attempt to save the show.
NBC's Law and Order (which premiered less than a year after The Simpsons) had a total of 20 seasons and the network controversially axed it, therefore preventing it from surpassing Gunsmoke as the longest running prime time drama even despite it is directly above The Simpsons on that list at 60th place. But that is because Law and Order is a much more expensive show than The Simpsons and the production costs (especially actors salaries) got too cumbersome. Budget cuts couldn't be agreed upon by Dick Wolf and the NBC network.
Law and Order also has a much smaller audience of 18-49 year olds (the most important age range for advertisers) than The Simpsons does.
The Simpsons in 2009-2010 was ranked at 33rd place for that age group compared to 82nd place for Law and Order.

"Look, Marge, you don't know what it's like. I'm the one out there every day putting his ass on the line. And i'm not out of order! You're out of order. The whole freaking system is out of order. You want the truth? You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth! Because when you reach over and put your hand into a pile of goo, that was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do! Forget it, Marge. It's Chinatown!" - Homer's rant.

thanks for posting the list, i've been looking for it. Well, as i said, that Once upon a Time episode really saved the season for Fox. And as you can see, technically speaking, cancelling KotH was the right decision.
King of the Hill was meant to be cancelled in 2006, but that year FOX pulled the plug on the top five longest running live-action sitcoms on their schedule.
The originally intended King of the Hill series finale instead aired as the 2007 season finale.
That 70's Show, Malcolm in the Middle, The Bernie Mac Show, Arrested Development, and Stacked were all terminated that year and FOX wanted to keep something in addition to The Simpsons that was a comedy that was also long running.
