Don't blame me or other "sheep"-like viewers for the show's drop in quality. You blame the writing, and rightly so - I'm not cutting the writers slack as far as what is being put out there - just that this particular episode was good. I enjoyed it. That's my opinion - just as you have yours.

Your message indicates to me a sort of bitterness because you think the show is complete trash. Add to that your comments about writers on other shows working hard and not getting recognition, and I infer that there are other shows out there not doing as well ratings wise that you happen to enjoy. But that's your opinion. You can be bitter if you wish, but don't come down on me for having an opinion, and then bashing me for my opinion. I've seen that happen on far too many boards, and that turns people off very quickly.

Oh, and if the show's ratings dropped in half, IMO we wouldn't get a chance to see if the show would get better, that might be the last step before FOX drops the show. But with FOX being FOX, they may re-up just to have something fill the timeslot. I'm sure if the show were cancelled, you wouldn't have any problems at all.
Sorry if I came off a little judgemental and high-strung. I didn't mean to bash you. I'm just a little disturbed at the fact that quite a few people have said that they are sticking around because of loyalty (I, on the other hand, have pledged to cease active viewing if next season's premiere is anything like what we've seen this season). From your sports analogy, I assumed you were one of them.

That notwithstanding, I believe the ratings have encouraged the writers to the moronic depths the show has sunk into. I've seen TV shows and I've seen TV shows. In the history of television, no show has plunged with the speed The Simpsons have in so short a period of time.

You are correct when you say I'd have no problems with the show being cancelled. You know what? despite his retraction of previous statements, I don't think Matt Groening would slip into depression either.

In some ways, I agree that the ratings have allowed the writers to get away with a lot of jokes that were busts. That being said, I still enjoy several episodes a season - usually not all of them, but many of them. The last time I can recall really laughing and enjoying every episode was Season 8. I understand where you are coming from when you say the show has dropped in quality. I'm disappointed with all the negativity relating to the show on every forum. I offer criticism when I feel the need to, and for a few episodes, it was really worth it. But to take it out on someone else because I didn't enjoy the episode - that's uncalled for. I don't praise other fans when I enjoy the episode either; they have nothing to do with the writing or production.

I think Matt Groening will be despondent when OFF is gone, either...he's made enough money to fund his other projects and live quite comfortably.
Of all the goals I have in life, the only one out of reach is to be immortalized on the Simpsons.

I'm sorry that it's not as easy for me to make the transition from the old to the new. I will never accept the newer episodes as being anything more than inferior dopplegangers, and I can't stand that they get as much attention as they do. For me, The Simpsons died in the summer of 1998. I don't fault anyone for liking the newer episodes(I sometimes wish I could). But I find myself annoyed if someone says they found an older episode "boring and unfunny," while saying they enjoyed a recent episode.

-For the record, some of this people have referred to me (and likeminded fans) as "stupid."

Definately one of my favorite episodes of the more recent seasons. I think Stan Lee's performance as himself is the rare exception where celebrities playing themselves is hilarious

"He's not the hulk! I'm the hulk! Grahagaa!"

really funny episode. I like the comic references a lot and Stan Lee and Comic Book Guy are great together. Also Homer as Hulk is one of my favorite scenes in this episode.

    GREAT EPISODE 5/5
"Look, Marge, you don't know what it's like. I'm the one out there every day putting his ass on the line. And i'm not out of order! You're out of order. The whole freaking system is out of order. You want the truth? You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth! Because when you reach over and put your hand into a pile of goo, that was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do! Forget it, Marge. It's Chinatown!" - Homer's rant.

I haven't seen this one in awhile, but from what I recall, I thought it was pretty stupid overall. On the plus side, I like the title, and Stan Lee's was one of the better post-season 8 uses of a guest star. While I'm sure his creepily obsessive selfish behaviour in this episode was obviously an exaggeration of his personality for comedic effect, I imagine there is some truth to it. You can tell that the guy is a bit of a narcissist from all the cameos he makes in movies based on properties he's created (except "X2" for some reason, which was to the benefit of the film), especially when he makes gratiuitious ones like in "Spider-Man 3".

    Top Ten:
    1. "Who Shot Mr. Burns?"
    2. "The Way We Was"
    3. "Summer of 4 Ft. 2"
    4. "Boy Scoutz in the Hood"
    5. "Bart's Comet"
    6. "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Badasssss Song"
    7. "Lisa On Ice"
    8. "Bart Sells His Soul"
    9. "Homer at the Bat"
    10. "Lisa's Pony"

    Uhhh....I'll be back! Pruh-Probably.

3/5...I didn't really like it, but it's a decent episode and can make me laugh a little bit.

A rare 5/5! Pretty good season. I see good things!

"Ah, but only Batman fits in my Batmobile."

My favorite line spoken from Database in the series, and one that has resonated with me ever since.

The rest is great post-golden era stuff.

I loved the opening with the animator at the assembly. Danger Dog is still one of my favorite characters. I also love when homer catches on fire while trying to open a lawn chair. And when Kirk admits his job as the Assistant to the guy who puts fliers on car windows.

This episode has stood well over time. I've always really enjoyed it, and it's definitely one of my favorite gag-driven post-classic shows.

5/5, hilarious episode, but to me, it seemed to have a lot more adult jokes then usual {what is the worst kind of joke they could do in TV PG?} still great!

Just saw this episode again, and hate to go against the popular opinion...but I think it sucks.

For me it sums up why I don't enjoy The Simpsons as much anymore (doesn't help that Sky seem to show a season 1-9 episode then a later episode straight after).

    - The humours too obvious, "I hope someone isn't drawing this"...a lot of the jokes just don't feel necessary, as if they're tacked on.

    - IMO poor characterisation, Bart had no morals at all, (hate to compare, but an earlier Bart would not want to deliberately hurt people for a few laughs), he just seemed too 'evil'.

    - The whole internet cartoon story felt incredibly basic and rushed, with Homer essentially being the object of slapstick pain gags for half an hour....which imo is NOT funny.

I actually listed this as my favorite episode from 11-20. The Angry Dad cartoons in particular I enjoyed. 5/5

Hilarious! I couldn't help but watch it over and over again until I eventually got bored of it.

You know maybe it's overly gratious, but I gave it a 5. I think it's one of the best post classic episodes too right alongside Fraudcast News. It got the frailty of the dot com boom that had been going on at the time down pretty well, and the angry dad comics really were pretty funny.

From a quality standpoint if you dissect, it looks like a bad episode. However, it does look at one of the factors that have made Homer become a "Jerkass": his hotshot anger that he obtained all of a sudden in the show at the time, and tries to make a case about it.

Personally, I enjoy the crude "Angry Dad" cartoons, as well as Homer "becoming" the Incredible Hulk. The only parts that I didn't like were the "Danger Dog Easter Day Special" clip, the piano lady gag, and part of the ending. To me, this was one of the last true enjoyable episodes before a loooonng series of average and below-average episodes.

Very good, I was a fan of the Angry Dad comic, if only it was made into a real comic by Bongo

Very different episode, I liked it
