arguably...
No it has nothing to do with the scheduling, I just don't like the line-up from this season. But please, give me reason why this season is still worth my money.
Because this is the only episode I truly liked during this season.

I can't.
Most of my reasons are related to nostalgia.

Well ultimately it depends on what you like and how you need to like something before you consider buying it. Personally I think I Am Furious Yellow, Little Girl in the Big Ten, and Papa's Got A Brand New Badge are at least three other pretty good episodes (especially compared to episodes today) and there are several other reasonable efforts.
If you bothered to buy 10-12 or will bother to buy the upcoming season 20 release, I'd say this season it at least more worthwhile than those ones. But again, that really depends on what you enjoy.

Furious Yellow and Big Ten were enjoyable indeed.
The reason I want to buy season 20 is because I haven't seen one episode of that season, so it is entirely new to me.
Reasons for buying seasons 10, 11 and 12:
"Lard of the Dance"
"The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace"
"Bart the Mother"
"Treehouse of Horror IX"
"I'm with Cupid"
"Make Room for Lisa"
"Simpsons Bible Stories"
"Treehouse of Horror X"
"Faith Off"
"Missionary: Impossible"
"Pygmoelian"
"Last Tap Dance in Springfield"
"Behind the Laughter"
"Treehouse of Horror XI"
"Lisa the Tree Hugger"
"The Computer Wore Menace Shoes"
"Skinner's Sense of Snow"
"Worst Episode Ever"
"Day of the Jackanapes"
"New Kids on the Blecch" (guilty pleasure)
"Trilogy of Error"
"I'm Goin' to Praiseland"

Season 10 eps on there- 7
Season 11- 6
12- 9
So for 12, you got more episodes, but for 10 and 11 you didn't even include half those seasons' episodes {didn't for season 12 either but got closer}. You mentioned some episodes you thought were good, but the rest of those seasons have really bad/mediocre episodes, in a lot of peoples' opinions {plus some probably dislike a lot on your lists}.

I only like 3 episodes from season 13. So 10-12 outscore 13.

I personally am excited about season thirteen... it's actually when I first started watching them when I was younger. They bring back memories of the beginning of my simpsons obsession I guess

Same here. Season 13 was the first season I got on video (those tapes are probably stuffed away in a box in my dad's basement right now), so revisiting the episodes nine years after the fact will be a lot of fun. I was still a relative Simpsons newbie in 2001, to the extent that I let other fans' opinions dictate what mine should be, so I had a very black-and-white view of the show - basically, my belief was Scully = bad, Jean = good. Now I judge each episode individually, so it'll definitely be interesting to watch these again.
Come to think of it, I ought to dig out those old tapes and rewatch them sometime. I got all of Seasons 13 through 15 on tape, plus a ton of syndicated reruns of Seasons 1 through 12, and I left the commercials in. I love watching old recorded shows with the commercials intact; it's the closest thing there is to going back in time.

haha I completely agree, the commercials are the best part of VHS recorded shows
because you remember the shows... but you completely forgot that there was a commercial featuring the latest technical breakthrough in modern-day transportation... the Geo Metro
I love them...
But seriously... in 2001 I was only 9 years old, so I of course LOVED those episodes. I still have a similar child-like mentality, so it should be well worth the $30

Bake 'em away toys!
It's the return of the season 13 DVD thread! Back from the depths of the forum. I decided to take the initiative here and bump this thread because continued complaining about the season 20 set was getting annoying. So...who will be on the cover? Moe or Apu would be my guess. Also, will FOX release this in Blu-Ray too, to try and get some extra money? Let the very early speculation begin! Again!

They better go back to bonus features, and I think they will. I'm betting either Moe or Apu, but it might be Apu because his last major role is in this season IIRC {I'd prefer Moe though}.
I hope this comes out later this year

Apu will be on the front cover definitely, because season 13 features his last major episode.
The writers respected the big episodes of CBG's Worst Episode Ever.
But will they resort to Clancy Wiggum, who is a much bigger and more recognised character than Apu, which they seems to be the angle that they are going for (picking Krusty in season 11, when he doesn't even have a major episode on there).
Furthermore, Wiggum gets his only big time role episode in Papa's Got a Brand New Badge, so maybe it is a Wiggum head case.
And the Wiggs I doubt it's Moe, as he'll get his shot for the season 14 dvd because of the excellent Moe Baby Blues.

^ Ya. After the pathetic season 20 release, FOX needs to give us a full-fledged season 13 by the end of the year or I'm gonna be really pissed. And I agree with what you're saying about which character will be on the front. I would guess Apu for this season if I had to.

They only released s20 for the 20th Anniversary. Therefore I am sure they will release this one with commentaries/deleted scenes, and any other feature they have had in the past.

For this one, I want Moe, but as you said, it will probably be Apu and Moe will be 14.
Unless, also as you said above, they do someone random like they did with 11. But I hope they don't and give one to say, Skinner. Only time will tell.
Also, if they do Apu, the DVD art would be the Quik-E-Mart probably, right? The menus then would probably be like the one on season 5 for disc 3{?}. Hopefully if that is the case they add more creativity {though I think they would, there would be different characters in line and such}

The Kwik-E-Mart theme would be perfect for Apu's cover, and I've always thought that a Duff Brewery tour theme would be great for Moe, because just being in the bar would be a little boring.

Or maybe for some, you could have characters roaming around the Quik-E-Mart aisles?

It maybe boring, but I guess the show has to identify to some of its casual fans. I would love for a DVD menu to be Apu's apartment for Apu, or maybe for the 20th season, which could have a Springfield theme - have a dvd menu of the burning tyre tower?

I'd say season 16 belonged to Patty & Selma.
Patty for announcing her homosexuality.
And Selma for getting her daughter Ling.
Big achievements, big episodes for both of them.
