I doubt anyone running the show doesn't care what the fans think. Just because they may not show it doesn't mean they don't care. Jean in particular has always seemed to at least try to appeal to what the fans enjoy about the show, while evolving the show so it can generate a new audience. He doesn't always succeed, but I wouldn't say he doesn't care. Scully on several occasions has expressed frustration by the onslaught of criticisms thrown his way.
But hey, I could be wrong.

None of the major retailers have it listed (HMV, etc.)
FOX has a reputation for not distributing blu-ray editions to other regions (Die Hard 3, Simpsons Season 20), so this might be a similar case.

Blu-ray... Does it make a lot of difference for S13? Think not.

Exactly. Turning the S13 Episodes into blu-ray would be like this:
Imagine my avatar is an S13 episode. (strangely fitting.)

This is what it would be like on blu-ray.

It's bigger, but there's no improvement in quality.
Because that's impossible.

Fight Fire With Fire
Exactly.
Anyways, I think I might skip buying season thirteen. Or at least wait for awhile until I can find a used copy at Zia. I'm certainly not going to spend $30 or $40 to buy it new though. There just are not enough stand-out episodes on thirteen to make me want to buy it. A whole bunch of average-to-bad really. Only stand-out episode I can remember is 'I Am Furious (Yellow)'
Can anyone recommend any episodes that might change my mind about the season? Episodes besides the one mentioned above, obviously, and 'Lisa In The Big Ten' because I just watched it yesterday.

Oh, and also 'Weekend At Burnsies' is another stand-out episode that I can remember that I enjoyed quite a bit. Also, I had a major typo in my last post, I forgot it's "Little Girl In The Big Ten" not "Lisa In The Big Ten".
But yeah, I'll check out "Half Decent Proposal" again.

Papa's Got a Brand New Badge was a quite good finale.
Although treading slightly familiar territory.

S13 was an above average, not that bad season, but what's left will probably be raped and killed by the F**KING ACCORDION!!

I take it you know what the accordion is. It is the new eco-friendly format used for seasons 11 and 12, where, instead of digipak cases, it consists of entirely cardboard sleeves into which the discs slide. However, taking the discs in and out of the slots badly scratches them. Also, it takes an annoyingly long time to get the accordion to slide out of the cardboard box it comes in.
And why would a DVD set need to be recyclable?
Anyway, getting back to season 13, is anyone wondering what the menus and accordion art will be like?

Ah, that's why you made that "I hate the Accordian" thread.

I've been away for a while, but Ralph for the cover? Weird choice, didn't see that one coming. Moe or Apu seemed like the perfect fit, or even Mr Burns. Oh well, it's not bad, but doesn't make me think of Season 13...

Ralph....the unlucky number of 13...I think it's a reasonably good correlation.
Although of course the unluckiest person is Gil - he's not really a fan favourite to be on a cover.

Not well known enough by the general public? They only seem to put popular characters on the covers, don't they?
Still, I would agree with you there, that he'd be an ideal candidate.

The BD will always be better than the DVD, even if it's just an upscale of the 480i video. Why?
Improved HD audio quality
Higher video bitrate, so less compression and better colors
3 discs instead of 4, also they're harder to get damaged
Better packaging - no accordion
Remember there's a little chance (maybe 5%) they can go to the original film and remaster it on HD. It's not that expensive, just $10 more than the DVD, and probably going to get cheaper after it's release.

For that casual customer who throws the set against the wall in an uncontrollably blind rage because they mistake S11 and onwards to be an assumed standard of quality.

The Simpsons isn't really something I would consider on Blu-Ray, perhaps the movie but I doubt I'd buy the episodes in the format. I can see the advantages, but they seem quite small compared to certain movies and even other TV shows. I don't have a Blu-ray player though, so what do I know...

If you look around, you can get on for less than 100 dollars. The 'old fashioned' 2D only players are becoming very cheap.

Yeah, that's the downside to Blu-Ray - if you want to upgrade, you also need to plunk down about $700+ for an HDTV, plus another $40 for an HDMI cable. No wonder it's still not the dominant format yet.
I'm sticking with DVDs for "The Simpsons" until further notice. When we get to the point where they re-release the Season 20 set with special features, then I'll go Blu-Ray.

4 of 5 "doctors" recommend
To sum it all up, it's pointless to have a blu Ray in 4:3 format

Not true, so a 16:9 DVD would be pointless too? It doesn't fill the screen but still HD video (or upscaled). Old movies like 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Go with the Wind' are 4:3, but true HD and they look amazing.

A topnotch DVD-player and TV are all what you need.
The same DVD-disc can deliver so much more if both of the above are having high standard quality.
