That is hilarious!
Yeah you're definitely not supposed to draw inner ear lines for his ears, though I doubt it's something stressed upon as much as say...getting the exact shape of Lisa's head right or the exact right height of Homer's head.
Another useless but sorta cool design tidbit: Ralph's hair's supposed to be the silhouette of a blonde bowlcut. It says in the big how to draw book they released that its a bowl-cut, but I remember this came up with someone who worked at Film Roman visiting a class during my first year of college and even there some people think of it as just a bunch of thin strings, but apparently the original idea is that he's blonde but it meshes in with his skin, like Bart and Lisa.
Told you it was useless.![]()

Is the cover art fake? Or why doesn't it say complete 13th season on the cover?
^ They stopped saying "complete" with the 11th season. I guess it would be to long to write "The Complete Seventeenth Season" when they get that far. Its all about conserving space on the cover.
It's not like it would take up THAT much space though...
.
Working in graphic design myself, I've found it best to try a template with every possible variation to make sure copy will fit. I'm sure the designer behind The Simpsons DVDs noted that as the seasons continue, the word "complete" would present problems once longer lettered seasons came into play. Last thing they want is "The Complete Seventeenth Season" to be in a size so small that it's hard to read from the shelf. Also, I assume somebody in their design dept. noticed that saying"complete" was unnecessary as a season set should be assumed to be complete. It takes up space and is redundant, hence "complete" got the axe.

On the back of seasons 11 and 12 it does mention the complete 11th season with all 22 episodes. Same with season 12. Like it has been said thw word complete would become smaller as the season number get longer.
Still, the word 'complete' is unnecessary. Just saying the 13th season suggests also that the season in its entirety is represented on the discs.
So if you people are gonna watch the season, do you start with the beginning, do you pick eps at random or are there specific episodes you like to see first?

I have done it both ways. Season 11 I watched from the beginning because I hadn't seen most of the episodes in a long time. The earlier seasons like 3 and 4 I had seen the episodes so many times that I just picked my favorites when I first got the dvd. Season 13 I will probably going to start from the beginning.

I'm definitely gonna start with that Artie Ziff-episode, followed by the Angry Dad-one.
I watch them all the way through in order to see if my opinion of the season has changed at all since I last watched it. Then I watch them again with commentaries, to try and glean any extra insights into the episodes and maybe even look at any episodes I disliked in a new light.
That's why I'm glad to have Al Jean back for the commentaries this time. He may be a mediocre showrunner, but at least he has something interesting to say. Listening to Mike Scully and Matt Selman dick around for the last four box sets has been an exercise in frustration, to say the least.

I watch the episodes in order regularly first, so I can get a feel for the season and see if there's anything that I can hope the writers can explain or acknowledge when I watch the episodes again in order with commentaries.
I watch the episode immediately followed by commentary. I've mentioned this boring fact a couple times before, but I'm currently doing this with Season 2, and in about 10-15 more commentaries I'll have gotten through all of S1-8.(!)

when i get it i start by watching them all in order. then usually deleted scenes, and occasionally commentary

I used to watch them all in order with no commentary, and then watch them all with it. Over time, I've gotten progressively more and more lazy that I'll watch a whole DVD disc's episodes and then watch the commentaries, and then not use that disc for the next couple of years. Because having to walk to the DVD to change discs every day is way too much effort.
Of course, the less times you have to deal with the DVD packaging, the better.

It's small but meh, what the hell.
That blank stare on Ralph's face is just terrifying.

I usually watch the episodes in order, with commentary. If there's episodes i haven't seen, i watch them first, without commentary, and then with commentary.
