I'm guessing that if they make the head it will only be for DVD. More people will buy DVD format so it would make more sense to have 2 versions of the DVD. I can't really see them having four different versions of the same set by having the standard and head boxes both in Blu-Ray and DVD. Also, I think that Ralph would've been a better fit for season 19 with E. Pluribus Wiggum. But I guess the episodes in the season have nothing to do with the character featured on the cover. They only have for sure 9 more seasons left to put on DVD and I hope they pick good characters. This is kinda showing us which characters are viewed as favorites by the creators.

This "top 10 secondary characters list" includes all three secondary characters to get a box:
    http://listverse.com/2008/05/17/top-...-the-simpsons/

Two of 'em made this list: http://www.dailypress.com/dp-top10.s...9.photogallery

Not that these lists are the end all decision of which secondary characters are best, but google "top ten simpsons characters" some time for an idea of what we'd probably get up to 19 (or even 20 if they plan to re-release it as a normal set).

My guesses for the next eight characters: Burns, Moe, Apu, Willie, Barney, Flanders, Skinner and Lovejoy
    UP AND ATOM!

^ The only character on that list that I really wouldn't want on a cover would be Smithers, and I highly doubt that they'll put him on a cover, ever.

EDIT: I'd really like to see a Side Show Bob cover and a Chief Wiggum cover sometime down the road.

Another advantage with Blu-Ray is that you don't have to switch the disks as much. Artwork and the booklet aren't that important to me.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

I think the BD will come in a standard case with slipcase, like S20 did. I really prefer that instead of the crappy accordion style!

I KNEW IT!!! I KNEW IT!!!!!

I said it a thousand times upcoming seasons were more likely to be released on BLU-RAY rather than just DVD. Season 14 was the first year of full digital animation. Makes sense they start releasing them this way now.

It's a fullscreen set, so that means 1440X1080p picture resolution. Nice!

I just hope they bring the whole package of extras, meaning commentaries on every episode from Al Jean, Mike Scully, Matt Selman, Jon Vitti, Tim Long, David Silverman and the whole gang!

I think we'll see Crazy Cat Lady on a cover before Lovejoy is even considered.

I can definitely see what you're getting at. The creators probably assume that the DVD will sell if a popular character is on the cover, regardless of how big a role he (or she) plays in the season (heck, I don't even know what my decision would be if Lovejoy showed up on season 19).

I'd like to see Bob or Wiggum on the cover at some point.

Thanks to CousinMerl for this great sig!

That doesn't mean a damn thing when the source material is 480i and just upscaled 1080p. You'll get the same effect when you stick any of the first 12 seasons in a decent blu ray player.

Nah, i'll wait to see season 13 on Blu-Ray for myself and be the judge of quality by then.

I saw season 19 reruns on HD a while back, and they looked pretty good, even if not up to season 20+ standards.

but honestly, they don't really have any female characters i think would be good... what, crazy cat lady? Mrs. K? {though that would be interesting i guess...} They won't do Maude {or at least there's a very small chance they will}... Helen Lovejoy i guess is a possibility, and that's really about it, unless I'm missing someone

The odds of Helen ever making it onto a cover are even lower than the odds of Lovejoy making it on a cover.

Edna might make it, and Agnes Skinner... to be honest, I don't think there are that many notable female characters.

Has the possibility of a Lenny and Carl 'joint-head' ever been considered for later seasons? (I know, really far out. Like, two heads fused together)
    Zep's top five:
    1. Bart's Inner Child
    2. Bart Carny
    3. Burns, Baby Burns
    4. Bart v. Australia
    5. Bart's Comet
(Yes, I like Bart episodes...who told you?)

That should be for the Season 18 box:

"You can't tell where Carl ends and I begin!"

"You see, it's statements like that that make people think we're gay"

probably the best exchange of Season 18 outside it's triumvirate of good episodes

I was thinking that since they change packaging styles every five seasons, maybe season 16 will start with couples boxes.

Fuck blu ray. I want my VHS and black and white TV to return.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

There are so many male characters that would come before a female one. Moe, Apu, Burns, Chief Wiggum, Sideshow Bob, Willie, Ned, Milhouse, Skinner, Barney, Lenny+Carl, and maybe even Smithers or Nelson. If they were to put a female on a cover, it would almost have to be Patty and Selma, because there just aren't that many notable female characters.

I, I, I can't understand this for any reason but money grabbing.
I'll stick with the DVDs until Season 20's proper release.

how do you figure Blu-Ray will be gone before DVD? The way you worded the original post makes it sound like you think DVDs gonna stay longer than Blu-Ray, which is newer and a lot more people like it. Obviously Blu-Ray won't stay forever {and if it does, good for it}, but it's gonna stay a lot longer than DVD

i don't think people are quite ready to make the jump to blu-ray yet, probably because of the price, and at the moment dvd is still more popular.

but yes, of course blu-ray will outlast the dvd, however i'm guessing that won't happen until quite a few years from now.
