Nice work man. However, I hope they use a new picture of a character instead of cutting and pasting an old picture like this and what they did for season 20. Seasons 11 and 12 had pretty nice box art and I'm hoping for a picture of Apu on a yellow/gold box for season 13.

The drawings on the boxes are usually newly made.

The image they used on their mockup cover is from the opening page of Simpsons Comics #53, so I instantly saw through it

I knew it was fake as soon as I looked at it. The pictures on the spine are green. That's what gave it away for me.

Ya but the faces of the characters on the spine are still yellow. The spine for this thing is solid green. Its fake.

Also, I really can't imagine them having Burns looking like that on the cover. It is too in your face. Although, maybe they would want that.

I really hope they go back to the August and December releases. If we're lucky, we'll get seasons 13 and 14 this year.

I hope we get 13 and 14, because if we do, I will see that as reason to be optimistic that the crumminess of the Season 20 box set was an isolated incident that only happened because Fox wanted to capitalize on the milestone, and that it may see a re-release with proper bonus features in a few years. However, if what we get this year is Season 13 and 21, then I'd expect 21 to be just as bare bones as 20 and I'll just have to take it to mean Seasons 20+ won't ever get the treatment that earlier seasons get.

Also, the cover of the set says 20 Years real big on the front. I wouldn't expect them to be releasing season 21 next. I'm expecting them to go back to releasing the sets in order. That's just the way I see it.

If it was just for the anniversary then yes. However, there's also the possibility that Fox wants to continue to make Blu-Ray money off the show, in which case they'd stick with releasing the current HD seasons. But like I said, I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Only time will tell, but I sure hope they release them in order with proper extras and leave off 21 for now. Something worries me though. Remember when The Simpsons Movie came out on DVD as a 1 disc version, and it had hardly any extras, not even the deleted scenes from some of the TV adverts. Well pretty much everyone thought they would release a proper 2-disc set a year or two later loaded with extras so they could make more money, but it never happened. Doesn't bode well with a re-release of Season 20, and a potential continuation of bare bones releases with Season 21 does it? ...

it's sad they seemingly don't have much room for features anymore. i can't imagine them giving up on commentaries and other features.

Ya. The Simpsons boxsets have been known for the special features. Groening in multiple intros even says things like We don't just give you a couple commentaries like the other guys do, we give you commentaries on all the episodes. I'm pretty sure they'll be releasing them in order with all the features though.

Commentaries are much better when they've had a bit of time to reflect on the episodes. Sure they might forget some of the little details but they usually remember the interesting stuff. Of course they will release Season 20+ again as "complete" box sets with more features.

Yeah I really don't get how there is so much discussion over cover art that is obviously fake for many reasons.

If it doesn't influence the regular releases, they may do as many recent season-releases as they want.
We can always decide if we want to buy it or not.
