...To the early 1990's with Simpsons Illustrated!

EDIT: More fun stuff added many posts down.

    Meet the early writers:

    A funny Moe bio page:

Finally, another look at the writer's room in Winter'93:

    Enjoy.

Haha, I actually find the Moe picture useful.

But that's some awesome stuff. It's great to see all the things I've missed entirely.

Thanks, and I'll post more this weekend. Unfortunetly, my favorite issue of S.I. that had the precurser to "Cartooning with the Simpsons" was stolen about 8 years ago and it had the most interesting picture--a kid who's neighbor looked like the real world Ned Flanders (yes, even more than William H Macy). And he put on a pink shirt and green sweater and actually posed for the pic!

Great article, nice remembrance of things past. I like how the staff has a Spinal Tap poster on the wall.

Wow, a great picture of the room (and with Conan, yaay!). It's funny that Swartzwelder let the photographers take pictures of him, I've only seen 3 pictures of him so far.

While we're on old Simpsons stuff, who remembers Jonah's great website, The Springfield Shopper? Fox made him shut it down, but with help from The Internet Archive we can now check the old site in all its glory! Complete with his old Complete Guide pages.

Was that video just of one episode or were there more? Ten dollars seems a bit steep.

That article about the writers was republished in the UK Simpsons Comics when it started in 1997, by which time it was completely confusing and out of date.

    It was the one episode.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

Not only they took a picture of him, he also talked about the show! That was really cool! Really great article, thanks a lot.

By the way, here's another great staff picture, also of the Season 4 Staff, the main difference between this one, and the one already posted is that Jeff Martin and Matt Groening aren't in it, but our heroes Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein are! And as a bonus we've got to see a lot of the post-production supervisors and staff's personal assistants. Probably most of you already saw it since it's on the Wikipedia (Apparently, Bill Oakley himself posted it.), but for those of you who didn't, here it is:

(L to R) (back row) Mike Mendel, Colin ABV Lewis (partial), Jeff Goldstein, Al Jean (partial), Conan O'Brien, Bill Oakley, Josh Weinstein, Mike Reiss, Ken Tsumara, George Meyer, John Swartzwelder, Jon Vitti (partial), CJ Gibson (?) and David M. Stern
(Front row) Dee Capelli, Lona Williams and Unknown

    Here's another cool one:

(L to R) Bill, Josh, Mike Reiss and Jeff Martin.

I was also really curious to see a picture of the writing team during the Mirkin and Oakley & Weinstein years, the closer we've got are those great caricatures of the Season 8 staff on "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show".

I'm ashamed to admit that as soon as I read "Good News, Everybody!", all the rest of Marge's lines in the comic were said by the Professor in my head :-P

Nice. The Bowl-A-Rama ad's also in the paperback Simpsons Comics Extravaganza.

Neat to see some pre-Bongo Simpsons comics, not a bad read either. Anyone knew who drew those comics?
