    Favorite dark humor jokes

For some definition of dark comedy/humor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_comedy

That being said, while the Simpsons sometimes show us 'feel-good' moments and other heartwarming aspects, sometimes the show shows dark aspects that reminds us that the world is not really much of a fairy tale with unicorns shooting flowers out of their horn. That being said, I love dark comedy at times because it can be spooky, scary, ironic or sometimes even give us something to think about for the indirect attempt at more humor. It's not really realistic mostly, but I think it does a good job on making audience laugh for the purpose of humor.

One thing that I can think about is Sharry Bobbins getting sucked into the airplane engine in the end of "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpialad'ohcious'. It was random, somewhat shocking, and yet ironic to what the family was saying after her departure... I ended up laughing hard, with somewhat of guilt.

obviously the whole Frank Grimes episode falls under this catagory

also when homer is krusty and lands at the Krustyburger and beats the estonian elf
    always makes me crack up

Grimes goes without saying. There's a lot of these I liked, off the top of my head when Skinner says those really nasty, hope destroying comments about the students over the loudspeaker I remember thinking how horrible it was but I thought it was really funny. I felt bad but I've personally come across teachers that have done that very same thing. That was always a favorite of mine.

Many of the characters are black comedy jokes themselves, or started out as that. Especially Grampa, Ralph, Tony, and Quimby. In fact much of my favorite dark comedy are some of the darker implications that occasionally come up with every single member of the cast.

Marge whopping Milhouse in the head with the baby moniter

You know one real big bit of long-running black humor is the fact that Homer's been exposed to so much radiation. We don't really think much of it and it's used for laughs sometimes, but that's actually kind of bleak.

It's funny...I love dark humor, and it's one of my favorite "types" of humor out there. But yet I don't really remember any dark humor moments on the Simpsons that I've really liked. Maybe the show just doesn't do that kind of humor very well. Either because it doesn't really mesh with the overall tone of the show or maybe when the humor is dark, it's not surrealistic enough to be truly funny. But keep posting these moments and maybe I'll remember one I thought was executed well.

IDK, if this is considered dark by being mean to Grampa

Homer: You better start making sense, or we are going to put you in a home
Grampa: You already put me in a home!
Homer: Then we will put you in the crooked home we saw on 60 minutes
    Grampa: I'll be good

Definitely Grampa sitting alone in the retirement phone and picking up the phone to see if anyone is calling him.

    Oooooh, I've got it!

    From "The Springfield Connection"...

Lovejoy: [in the next cell] "All right, Hans, time to go."
Hans: "But he ate my last meal."
Lovejoy: "Well, if that's the worst thing that happens to you today, consider yourself lucky."
Hans: "Are you really allowed to execute people in a local jail?"
Lovejoy: "From this point on, no talking."
[Hans is led away by two men]

That last Lovejoy line is just perfect.

One that I think is funny is Moe stalking Marge in Lost Verizon. Does that count?
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

    Everything happens for a reason.

Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.

Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

I would be hard-pressed to find anything in the entire history of humor, let alone The Simpsons, that tops Frank Grimes and his immortal crowning moment of glory: "But I don't need safety gloves because I'm Homer Simp--ZZZZZZT!"
    "Attention Duelists!"

that's my favorite dark humour moment too. I think it's really well done and prepared brillantly through the episode.

Homer's Enemy is really hard to watch and laugh at.

Funny enough, it's the closest epi to what would happen in reality with people like the Simpson family.

    Scary, no?

would that be classed as black humour??

Usually I find Moe's attempts or comments about suicide to be quite funny.

Especially his sign that states "no funeral" when he attempts to kill himself by putting his head in the oven

This is the best example, without a doubt. Also, Moe beating the guy with the stick while the other Springfieldians are war-acting.

When Milhouse took his mystical mummy shopping cart ride... ends with fiery explosion!.. seeing Homer get his daily dose of pummeling.
Dark humor or classic slapstick? ...Maybe I've grown to desensitized to notice anymore by years of TV Violence..
..and TV Violins! ..Curse you Lawrence Welk!!

I like it when Milhouse cops the brunt of the joke. For example:

Homer: "Would you excuse us, Milton?"
    Milhouse: "It's Milhouse!"
Homer: "Yeah, and your father's No-House."

    "You killed the zombie Flanders!"
    "He was a zombie?"

I enjoy stuff like Milhouse getting pushed down the road incline in the shopping trolley cart and so forth but not because it's dark, just because it happens to be a joke i enjoy. Besides not many people get to push kids down a hill in a trolley... so it's also sort of cool like when man walked on the moon... it's different and rebellious. But i don't like dark humor any more than any other variety... although if you count the violent slapstick humour i guess i don't mind it... though i'm more of a dialogue humour person myself, though if a visual or other type of gag is done just right wtvr it's cool

If so, I guess Itchy & Scratchy and Mc Bain fits under this category.

Well, I don't consider them all too dark...maybe Sax's fortune...oh, and Scioscia's, of course. The exchange between Scioscia and Hibbert ("Will I be able to play softball tomorrow? "Oh, no, Mr. Scioscia. At this time tomorrow, you'll barely be able to breathe")...was hilarious and certainly dark. Thanks for reminding me.

I think some of the darkest humor (and some of the funniest dark humor) comes from the most gruesome THOH segment, "Nightmare Cafeteria", my favorite including:

Jimbo: "It's hard for me to clean this giant pot when you keep spilling
meat tenderizer all over me. (click) Oh, great, now I gotta
    work in the dark."

Skinner: "Oh, relax, kids, I've got a gut
feeling Uter is around here somewhere. (chuckles) After all,
isn't there a little Uter in all of us? (chuckles) In fact,
you might even say we just ate Uter and he's in our
stomachs right now! (laughs) Wait...scratch that one."
