Are you in the minority? Do people really forget how ugly and horrible everything felt after the airings of:

    Saddlesore Galactica
    The Mansion Family
    Kill the Alligator and Run
    Bart to the Future
    Homer vs Dignity
    Pokey Mom
    Tennis the Menace
    New Kids on the Blecch
    Simpson Safari

    and so forth?

The show is still way better these days.

    Bart Mangled Banner
    Bonfire of the Manatees
Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass
The Lastest Gun in the West
    Husbands and Knives
    Jazzy and the Pussycats
    The Regina Monologues
    Kill Gil

and the yearly three part fan-fic episodes and sub-standard THOH's?

I'd say things are pretty even.

The Scully episodes sucked because they were blatently obnoxious by Simpsons standards. After watching them, I wanted to break my TV. The Jean episodes are just the opposite--bland and boring. Even though they suck, the worst thing they made me do was let out some bored 'yawns'.

If I got stuck on a desert island and only a choice between those two sets of episodes, I'd take Jean's sucky episodes.

While watching "We're on the Road to D'oh-where," I seriously was yelling at the TV and wanting to throw something at it. "Just end the joke!" I was yelling. While the Scully episodes were anger-inducing, I can laugh a bit more from them. Scully's style was obnoxious at times, but Jean's style is really irritating and groan-inducing at times. I can enjoy the jerkass a bit more than the lame-o.

Yeah, jokes that go on way too long is one of the worst aspects of the Jean era. Is this a new trend or something, because I notice new Family Guy and South Park episodes taking that route as well. 95% of the time, it doesn't work and is just painful and awkward. I can only assume everyone's going for another "rake scene" but eh. Let's just keep the pace up.

I'd choose Mike Scully over Al Jean. Scully at least chose to step down while Jean won't give it up!

Although this seems to contradict what I just said, as far as post-classic seasons go:
    16>15>14>19>18>13>10>12>17>11

I aswell choose Mike Scully though I dont really have alot of neagtivity against Scully. I was watching Homer vs. Dignity and I laughed a lot which I dont do on todays episodes. Jean had really great episodes when he started season 13-15. Many of his episodes on his first three productions was halarious but his last 4 arent so. Jean has to step down, may be a supervising producer and work with Mike Reiss is what he should do.

They could be worse. And they seem about the same Family Guy so no big deal.

The ratings are no worse than what American Dad or King of the Hill have been doing, and as far as we know they are in no danger of cancellation.

Er, both of those shows are off the Fox schedule as of "next Spring", being replaced with Sit Down, Shut Up and the Family Guy Cleveland spinoff.

Then again, I don't see the show being cancelled any time soon (short of something happening to one of the main voice actors) - Fox doesn't have anything to put in its place that would get better ratings or sell better internationally.

Also, I would consider dropping TV.com from the list of bad media sources, often times they have the all the correct information before it is even posted here. Not sure about the past, but I can say it's been very reliable for season 19.

the ratings always do great in the beginning but fall at the end of the year. Since Animation Domination the Simpsons ratings have been declining. The Simpsons & Family Guy are the top 2 animated shows as for KOTH & AD they always seem to fail at the ratings.

Amy Whinehouse on the simpsons? right now it's hard to tell whether or not this'll ever happen, considering what happened with the james bond soundtrack business and such

I've always thought it sounded phony too, but multiple sources have reported it. If she isn't mentioned in the release that they usually make in July, then she'll be removed.

TV.com is rarely first with original info, thecopy their stuff from Wikipedia, and wikipedia gets it from us (and SNPP). The reason TV.com (and wikipedia) are considered bad sources is because anybody can post something, and they don't add their sources, so there is usually no way to tell if its fake.

The last few releases have been:

    August 2005 - Season 6
    December 2005 - Season 7
    August 2006 - Season 8
    December 2006 - Season 9
    August 2007 -Season 10
    December 2007 - The Movie

Season 10's date (August 7) was not announced until around June 21, and Season 9's (December 19) not until October 15, so look for a "two months in advance" announcement, probably in mid-to-late June. (Then again, who knows what effect the WGA strike had - the American Dad writers did their commentaries in the middle of the strike, but I don't know if Matt Groening was able to before the strike ended.)

    Right...
when I bought the season 9 boxset, I was on vacation in europe for a year. I think they released it there half a year later. It's the Germans' fault, not mine...

Lastest Gun in the West is not a bad episode, I'll never stop defending that one. Yes, it's a little boring or slow paced sometimes but it has good jokes in it and a fairly decent story.

The Regina Monologues, even though it's actually pretty bad in the story department, is more or less funny. Maybe it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

I like the story in Kill Gil, but the gags are pretty dull.

I concur about the rest of them.

What about Future-Drama? I think that one is probably worse than Bart To The Future, though neither of them are as bad as some of the other Scully and Jea episodes listed IMO.

I liked future-drama, I think it was best of whatever season it was in. Forget which one.

    Season 16, I believe.

Future-Drama is way way better than Bart to the Future.

Shouldn't this thread be about Season 20? Then again, we only know TWO episode titles for next fall...

I have a question: I read on wikipedia that the negotiations between the cast and fox is over and season 20 will contain 22 episodes. Is this serious?
would be cool but i don't know if i can trust them...

Shouldn't there be a third? I thought somebody here won a signed script for KABF18 or something. Or was that a fake?

Didn't win, Mike Reiss gave it to me.

It's not a fake, but I can't provide any more proof than taking pictures of it.

Dunno. The title is "Dangerous Curves" and my brain completely blanked when he gave it to me; I thought it had been an alternate episode title and was trying to figure out which one. Wasn't until he'd left to go check into his hotel that I realized that KABF18 had yet to air, and I didn't think to bring it up at any other time we were together.

Amy Winehouse may be in an upcoming episode in which she teaches Lisa how to be a singer.
As much as i love Amy Winehouse (kind of a guilty pleasure) i can't imagine her accent fitting in amongst in the simpsons. Also kinda sounds like a terrible plot.
