I heard it's gonna be called 'Avatar: The Legend Of Korra' and is gonna be set 100 years after the events of the original series.

I have never seen an episode of the animated series. I had heard a lot of the fanbase was upset with the adaption, but figured since I had no pre-existing assumptions that perhaps it would be at least an entertaining movie.

    It was not.

The movie is just all around TERRIBLE. It's just bad storytelling. It had no flow, you had no connection to the characters, they had no connection to each other. Two people meet & with one mention from the narrator to indicate the passage of a few days, the characters are in love.

The acting was mild, but on par for child actors. The writing was bad. The directing was terrible.

To make matters worse, the theater near me only had it in 3D. It wasn't filmed for 3D, it was added as an afterthought after seeing how much money Avatar made... so the 3D was weak, unimpressive and in some scenes (like where Aangs whole freaking face is filling the screen as he talks to someone for some reason) it was just weird.
I've been accused of vulgarity. I say that's bullshit!

Here's some official words on the new series and even a little Q&A with the creators:

^ Yeah, but that stuff about the new series that's set to start airing next year is pretty interesting, right?

    YES

It may be sad to see Katara as an old widow though

Eh, I'm a little skeptical of an Avatar spinoff personally. Think they should've just left it

I've been rewatching the series from the start since i've recently got the first boxset (book 1) and i'm soon finished with it (again, the first book); It was over a year since I last watched the series and must say that it is still a really great show, I didn't think it would do so well upon a rewatch but I was wrong. It doesn't feel dumbed down or childish like many other modern cartoons and I love that it doesn't insult your intelligence, especially if you're a grown-up watcher.

I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't compare it to the series, but after hearing all the negative reviews and opinions regarding the movie, i'm actually a bit hesitant to see it so I think i'll stick with the series (but I probably will end up watching the movie in one way or another).

Just don't bother with the movie. If you love the show, the movie, of course, will not "ruin" anything per say, but it will certainly depress the fuck out of you.

The cartoon is one of the most creative American cartoons in recent times and never gets old for me. Everything is actually thought out and researched to a point where all the fighting they do never gets repetitive or tiring. All the life and personality of the cartoon evaporates in the movie. If they manage to even MAKE any more, I hate to see how they portray people like Azula or Toph.

You're better off pretending "The Ember Island Players" is the movie because that stage play was more entertaining.

Haha, yeah. Toph is hilarious in that play!
    So is:
'Nice Zuko costume, but the scar is on the wrong side'

Just a question about the movie: why is Momo in the TV Spot clip (at 0.08) even though it was said that he was not included in the movie? (was his parts filmed but cut out like with the Kyoshi Warriors?)

Momo is in the movie, and is only called by name once

Luckily The Legend of Korra is making a big chance to wash away the foul taste that the movie-interpretation left in some people's mouths. And me, well I didn't torture myself and I didn't go watching it in theatres near me.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but that just looks horrible. I'm still gonna see it though, out of curiousity.

I rewatched the first season recently.
It still amazes me how flawless this series as a whole is.
A great setting of a world with a rich history, three-dimensional characters you can't help but care about, amazing choreographed animation, a gripping coming of age-tale, a solid beginning, an amazing middle and a fullfilling end... this animated series is as good as most of the better live-action series of the last decade. Discover it if you still haven't.
