This show looks so unbelievably bad. Although I do think it's real, it still looks like some kind of elaborate joke.

It is so 1980's spinoff sounding, I think that is really what they are going for.

I'm guessing he got put on ritalin or something like it and since he wasn't so hyper he started gaining weight.

    Show still looks crappy.

Really, you'd think that if anything they'd make a spin-off for Quagmire.

What are we going to do tonight, Glen?
The same thing we do every night: try to have sex around the world.

    Who else but Quagmire?

I'll give this show a chance and if it's as good as Old Family Guy, I'll probably watch it regularly.

^ If only. They should concentrate on making current Family Guy that quality instead of starting a new project which might/will distract creative attention from Family Guy further.

Cleveland? I think this won't last that long, considering Cleveland is kinda...boring. I've never liked Family Guy, although I have watched the show sometimes, yes, it is good, but it'll never be like The Simpsons, that's for sure. Cleveland? eh. We'll see

After one too many one night stands an uptight women named kim reveals that Quagmire is the father of her 15 year old son. Can Quagmire dodge this bullet or let his past catch up with him, to become a family man? Or live the single life? Up next on FOX.

I think a Quagmire spin-off would get pretty nasty and depressing after a couple episodes. He can be funny in short bursts, but I think jokes about have sex with everything that moves for half-hour chunks would be akin to what Groening said about an Itchy and Scratch clip show: too much concentrated nastiness that'd become nauseating.

On that note, hopefully The Cleveland Show won't be too much concentracted nastiness that'd become nauseating.

Looks pretty darn bad.. I think it could be good if it followed closer to a KOTH model - keep things slow, but smart and funny - versus slow, stupid, and nasty.
"Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."

No one ever said it'd be a good idea, bud. No matter what character they do a spin-off, the show will be terrible. That's not to say I won't give it a chance, that wouldn't be fair.

  18. #168

I don't think a show like this could follow a King of the Hill style and be funny.

Sad to say but this will probaly be better then the Simpsons next year.

I know it's not really fair to judge it before seeing any actual footage, but I don't think there's any chance this show won't be complete shit.Cleveland was a pretty good character in Family guy, but I don't think he could have sustained his own series even when Family guy was actually good, never mind now, when MacFarlane and co. seem to have completely forgotten how to write comedy.I can only imagine this being another pointless, empty series, just like American dad.I honestly think all three shows should be put to bed.

This thread makes me laugh. While this show looks dumb, generic, and basically following the formula that Seth followed with his last 2 shows, all of the hate it's getting is pretty nonsensical. So much of this is just simply the anti-Seth stuff that goes on here that's getting kind of old, and that's based only in a non-existing rivalry that's percieved to exist between Family Guy and the Simpsons.

^ I can assure you that, although I still like FG, my dislike for Seth has nothing to do with The Simpsons

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of Seth either. But sometimes a lot of the hatred he gets from people here can get irritating after a while.

It seems like following a KOTH model would fit for cleaveland's character, but it wouldn't work as it wouldn't have the depth of king of the hill, but it would still be too slow thus alienating a lot of Family Guy fans. It would mainly just appeal to people here who would just think "Oh well it's better than Family Guy at least"

I justt hope they don't use that for their actual intro. They probly won't.
