    Snore. Today, we rate:
    MOANING LISA!

Best of the season. Amazing episode, structuring Lisa's character, and developing her into a depressed child that is often unrespected. The subplot is also awesome, providing some good jokes and excellent characteriation.

    A/A+

pretty good episode from season one
The story is the big plus imo, even when the episode
is not that funny most of the time

    C+. Overrated IMO.

I have a lot of respect for this episode, mainly because it helped to define Lisa's character for the rest of the series. It's one of the very best Season One has to offer. On another note, the consoles have changed, but the Homer/Bart video game sub-plot is just as relevant today as it was then.

The first of a series of good Lisa episodes. I've always found it interesting that my least favorite character has always produced som eof my favorite and most enlightening episodes. I decided I'm gonna start giving episodes two grades for a better perspective.

    Season Grade: A-
    Series Grade: B-

This episode is a mixed bag for me and I do think that people are looking at a great side of this episode too much over the weak side. I do agree that this episode was the cornerstone for Lisa's characterization and mind struggle throughout the series. The subplot was short, but nice. I like those kind of little matter as subplots. Now, the weak side: I don't think the humor was very strong. Let's face it: we are rating this episode as a whole, and humor DOES COUNT. The subplot does has some good moments, but I hardly laughed at main plot moments.

    B/B+ for me

It's a good episode that characterizes Lisa's character pretty well. Plus the side story of Homer and Bart was pretty good.

Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

-- Homer's parable of the guy in the blue car, ``Homer the Heretic''

    Ralph: I Won! I Won!
Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.

    Now rate
    The call of the Simpsons

Good episode not great it shows the family well in the interaction when they are lost in the forest in a scene that shows them as a normal family. I don't care much for the Bigfoot plot though.

It's one of the worst episodes of the season. The few good moments are squelched by the horrible execution.

not bad but also not a great episode.
The story is ok and at least entertaining imo.
Maybe not enough gags and not so funny.

One of my least favorite S1 episodes...I second Caiaphas; it had a few good moments, but it was badly executed.

One of my top 5 all time episodes. Brooks salesman was just an incredible character. The rabbit flying through the air has to be one of the gags that always gets me.

    season: A+
    series: A+

    Now rate
    The telltale head

A great Bart episode ,every tv show will do an episode where the main character does something wrong and is guilty about it and The Simpsons did it well where you don't see Bart as a jerk at all and kind of sympathise with him on the situation but not many funny jokes.B

i think this episode is good in storytelling, but
not so funny imo. But at least entertaining enough to watch it again.
The story is also a little bit predictable and not really a new concept.

A fun episode which formed a lot of the image of Springfield and it’s history, also the first episode to feature Springfield descending into mob violence. But apart from introductions it is also a very good Bart episode developing him beyond the troublemaker persona
"I motion to be disbarred, on the count of bringing that evidence against my own clients."

    "...you liked Rashōmon."
"That's not how I remember it."

A good episode, really characterized Bart well as a troublemaker but someone with a conscience.

The episode kind of bored me all the way through, although I quite liked the plot.

Didn't find it that funny though, a few gags all the way through but that's it..

It's a decent episode, but not very original or interesting.

A very well-written and interesting episode. It really is a classic that explored Bart's character very well and already began to develop his dimensions and his almost-omnipresent internal conflict between doing what's right and doing what he thinks merits him. This episode is also notable because it marks a very momentous thing: the first Burnsmithers ship moment ever! Err...um, but I digress...The episode was of very high quality, not only for the first season, but for the whole show.

    Grade: A

It was a nice exploration of Bart's character and while the story was not terribly original, I enjoyed it for the most part.

Noooooooo! Nobody filled up for the next few episodes while I was banned. Oh well. Trying to review several episodes at once can be a pain. So instead, let's rate one episode. This one's good...

    LIFE ON DA FAST LANE

Yep, it is. The episode managed to be interesting and funny, and the marriage crisis situation was done spectacularly well. From beginning to end the episode was well structured and the characterisations and plot ideas were beautiful. Still, had some major flaws including animation, voice acting, and some poor dialogue. A-.

I like the episode, it showed a good characterization of Marge and Homer's marriage, plus that ending is one of my favourites.

Good episode. The Brooks voice acting magic sprinkled on every square inch.

Good episode when Homer and Marge's marriage troubles hadn't been done to death. Usual season 1 clunkiness, but Brooks works his magic, as usual: B

And the ending is really well done imo.

I haven't seen this one since last summer when I watched the commentaries for seasons 1-10. Pretty decent episode by season 1 standards.

    Homer's Night Out

I figure it's close enough to tomorrow....

I like this episode. By now the animation looks pretty decent compared to some of the early season 1 stuff. Promotes good morals I guess so that could appeal to non-fans.

I hate this episode. The sappy dialogue, the hateful character, the serious tone... it's what makes season one show it is medicore. The episode wasn't good, funny, or well-written. One of Vitti's weaker works for sure.

One of the worst of Season 1, I think this could be the first sighting of jerkass Homer.
