It's a good episode,
but i never really liked it as much as other members here do.
Still a good and funny story.
This episode is retarded-overrated. It has brilliant moments but really slows down and doesn't offer as much in the second and third acts. 4/5

Lisa the Beauty Queen
One of my favorite episodes from season 4. An underrated gem, in my opinion, which features a down-to-earth story and the perfect Homer characterization as the loving, self-sacrificing, good-intentioned but still clumsy and naive father. The only real problem I have with this episode is how abruptly the third act came and went, although I do like the reason for why Lisa is de-crowned. A
a really good episode for me too
with a nice look on Homer and Lisa's relationship.
Entertaining with funny moments.
B
This episode is really lacking. The pace and plot are both rather messy. Homer is great in this episode though. It's not a terrible episode, but not great. B-
"Evolution is silly," AJ adds. "Monkeys? Um, no."
Funny stuff, but everything good is outweighed by the really lame cigarette/media satire.
B
I agree that Homer is great in this episode and Lisa's inferiority complex is fun to watch. But Lisa the Beauty Queen is one of the weakest of season 4 IMO, mostly due to the story and pacing. The pacing makes the episode feel very rushed unfortunately and it's silly for Homer to enter Lisa in a highly competitive beauty pageant when she has low esteem (because if she lost, that she'd feel even worse), though that was only a minor problem. The anti-cigarette satire didn't really help either, it felt they were trying to push too many ideas at once in the episode and it was lame as well. However, I think there's some funny stuff and like Uberweiss said, it's not a terrible episode, but not great either.
B-
"Alright, alright, if it will make you happy, I'll overthrow society."
It's a good episode but I find it weak compared to other Season 4 episodes.

Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

Ralph: I Won! I Won!
Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.
I originally forgot the Treehouse of Horror, so we can just rate both episodes on the same day.
Treehouse of Horror III
A really good TOH, in my opinion. It starts out great with the Halloween party, and the stories that follow are all good. "Clown Without Pity" is a hilarious and engaging story, as is "King Homer", although the latter gets a bit less funny and drags on a bit at its end. "Dial Z For Zombies" was all right and featured some funny moments, but is probably the worst of the three. Overall, B+.
Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie
My second favorite episode from season 4, a truly underrated masterpiece. It's brilliant all-around, very down-to-earth, relatable, and expertly-done. The characterizations were all spot-on, and Homer's obstinateness was refreshing and surprising to see. The ending, too, was one of the best and most memorable of the series for me. This episode is one of the two season 4 episodes to receive an A+ from me.

You skipped TOH III, but I guess we can rate both episodes on the same day.
TOH III
Clown Without Pity- 4/5
King Homer- 3/5
Dial Z for Zombies- 5/5 < One of my favorite TOH segments.

Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie
This episode always seemed to me to be an underrated gem. It's a really funny episode but it also has a great Bart/Homer story that makes the episode even better. I think I&S: The Movie has a really good Homer characterization too. When he's punishing Bart, he still remains likable. You can sympathize with him as Homer's really trying this time to be a good father and he's really pushing for Bart to make a turn-around, and not in a pushy or obnoxious way. I also like how he doesn't give into Bart and stays firm. And even though Bart's acting like a jerk in this episode, you still manage to feel kind of bad for him, because the movie obvioulsy means a lot to him. The ending scenes are my favorite part though. I love how both of them "won"; Homer by staying on his ground and Bart ending up as a chief justice.

^D'oh, I did forget the TOH. I'll go add it in; thanks for letting me know.![]()

THOH III--A-
Either my third or fourth favorite THOH. It's quite funny, but not very well
constructed.
Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie--A
Interesting, humorous plot with good characterization. The ending is a bit of a downer, though.
A very memorable THOH, the line "Flanders was a zombie?" always cracks me up as does Smithers' comment on sea men.![]()
I give the first nine THOH 5/5
THOH III - 4.5/5 A very funny and underrated episode.
Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie - 3.5/5 Subpar for season 4. This might not be fair but it feels like it has no room to breathe; the first act is at night and at least half of the episode is inside of the house. Add to that an irritating moment of Homer desperately trying to give Bart his food (just my opinion of it), and the plot of Homer trying to punish his son which doesn't feel it was as interesting as it could've been, this episode is less than the sum of its parts.
Treehouse is a good Halloween episode and i like especially the
the last story with the zombies. The first wuth Krusty and Homer is also pretty funny. I don't like the one with King Homer so much.
B
Treehouse Of Horror III
I really like the third THOH episode, and my favorite segment has to be Dial Z For Zombies, and like Chou; it is one of my favorite THOH segments ever. The other two segments is also really good ones, the scene with Homer being chased away from the bathtub by the Krusty doll and hearing Patty's line as he runs by is one funny moment.
4.5/5
Itchy And Scratchy: The Movie
This is an really funny and classic episode, with a really good plot and great jokes and gags, I love grampa's "oh, this is gonna be sweet" line. The characterizations is of course also very good, and the ending scene is a sweet one that is easy to like, and I like old Homer uttering a meek "d'oh" when he hears the outrageous price for the tickets.
5/5

Marge Gets A Job
I think it lacked a strong plot and memorability. The Marge plot feels unfocused at times and contrived. I would've liked it better had they placed Marge in an entirely new setting altogether than the power plant. The subplot with Bart wasn't very entertaining and the wolf thing felt really bizarre and didn't mix well with the tone of the episode. However, it did have some good jokes and a very funny Tom Jones apperances; I guess it's humor could be considered a redeeming point.
B-
No, Marge needed to go to the Power Plant this episode, this season. It's just an obvious place she could go. If she didn't, somebody would be bound to voice the idea at some point, and used as a plotline in a later season (say this one), it might have come off worse. I actually liked the wolf subplot, but I understand what you mean about tone. BOriginally Posted by Chou

Snappy script, interesting premise, but still isn't anything spectacular. B+
The first act and some of the second were excellent, but then it began to go downhill. While all three acts had memorable scenes and humorous gags, the third act brought about quite odd Burns and Smithers characterizations, and the ending was unconvincing and abrupt. B
I can see what you're saying, but maybe it was a little too obvious...at least in my opinion. I just didn't find it that interesting of a plotline to see Marge work at the SNPP.Originally Posted by Unicat

It's rather dull, and unmemorable, although it does have some funny moments. Certainly one of the worst of the season, but still quite good. B-
A weak, mediocre episode that's one of the worst of season 4. C+
An ok season 4 episode, didn't really have any memorable moments other than a few real laughs.
Atleast Tom Jones was in it......

Like many fans, I find it to be a weak season 4 episode. I find it rather boring. 3/5
