    When Flanders Failed
This episode is so-so for me. It does have it's funny moments; the Schadenfreude bit is great and the part where Homer and Bart are in the Flanders' clothese with their furniture is hilarious too. But both the plot and subplot didn't interest me much. It's kind of a humorously grim episode though, because Ned really is a nice guy and you really do feel bad for him (I also like that he's a lefty, because it's clever and ironic, and well, I'm left-handed myself). The ending is very sugary; I could've done without the song but it's an episode about Ned. What are you going to expect? :P

how is it clever and ironic?
Bart: Lis, I don't get it...Why does Milhouse's happiness make me sad?
Lisa: Bart, you're worried you're losing Milhouse, and love is a selfish thing!
Bart: Shut up! I don't love Milhouse!
Lisa: Oh, really? The more you deny it, the more I know it's true!
Bart: Oh, yeah? Well, whenever you're mean, I'm a trampoline. So everything you said goes back and hits your ugly head.
Lisa: God, that was lame. Where did you get that?
Bart: From Milhouse! Oh, I love him so much!

Good episode with a nice ending. Jerkass Homer benefits the episode and nice Homer makes the ending good. A-

Like Chicken said, it used to be considered a sign of the devil or evil which is funny because Flanders is a devout Christian.

It's a decent episode, but it falls short in just about every area.

    Bart the Murderer

I haven't seen this one in a while, but if I recall correctly, it was another great season 3 offering: unique, solid, humorous, and memorable. I especially love Bart's bad day in the first act; it was very relatable yet still hyperbolic. A

    A good episode for me.
The story works great for Bart imo and it's also the first appearance of Fat Tony afaik.
Some funny moments too when Bart works for him or in the end when they blame him to be the kingpin.

One of Season Three's best. Bart, Skinner, Fat Tony, and the rest at their finest.

Let... me say this. The episode was going towards perfection until Principal Skinner's testimony on how he 'disappeared'. I mean, what's the odd of being trapped under one mass of newspapers? That ruined the perfection of this episode for me. Otherwise, it had funny moments, Bart's nightmare was memorable, and the story worked great.

Reading this made me lol. This is one of the episodes that shows how the writers were loosening up; it also has an unrelated first act and features a Bart that was getting more interesting to watch. So it's an important episode, and feels very Simpsony (especially the silly actual way Skinner went missing). It also happens to be good. 4/5

Great episode. I especially love the ending, with Neil Patrick Harris as Bart and Richard Chamberlain as Skinner in "Blood on the Blackboard". It always makes me laugh.

    Homer Defined

A good season 3 episode with both an interesting plot and a great subplot. A few scenes and jokes missed their mark more noticeably in this one than in most of season 3, but it was still a pretty solid offering. B+

It's a good episode for me.
The story is ok, even when a little bit too predictable.
Anyway some funny gags and most of the time an entertaining episode.

    For "Bart the Murderer"
    A,
I really like this episodes it has some of the best style and animation of the season as well as great humour and performances.

    "Homer Defined"
    B
Another episode with good animation especially the near meltdown scene. Mr Burns and Jon Lovitz as Aristotle Amadopoulos provide the best humour of the episode.

Homer Defined isn't an episode that shines in any particular spot, but rather is just a good all around episode. There isn't anything special about it, but it's a solid episode that keeps me entertained.

I watched this a few weeks ago and was surprised at how much the episode drops off after the first act. Even the Jon Lovitz character is pretty bland and forgettable. 3/5

Pretty lame episode. Nothing particularly interesting or new is offered and most of the jokes fall flat.

A pretty boring plot, and just 'quite' funny. One of the worst of the season.

It has some good gags here and there, but all-all, it's a forgettable and bland episode. I find the subplot more entertaining than the actual plot.

"Homer Defined" is a very overrated episode in my opinion. Like "Homer Badman" there is nothing in particular that I can say I find bad about the episode but those 2 episodes just don't do it for me.

    "Homer Defined" get's a B- from me.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

Now onto: Like Father, Like Clown

I thought this episode was a bit on the average side, but still pretty good. It had it's funny moments, but it could've been funnier; same with the emotion. The episode was slow-paced, which is fine by me, but it could get a little dull at times. I think the strongest aspect was it's plot, which I found to be very interesting.

A good episode for me with an interesting story with Krusty.
I like him as character and this episode tells a lot about him.
Also funny most of the time.

This episode is...odd. It feels strange throughout, having both the humor and pacing play out fairly well but definitely not perfectly. The third act, during which Bart and Lisa persist with trying to convince Krusty's father to accept Krusty, is very slow and long, with a repetitive pattern that didn't really work for me. The first act as well was rather boring and more depressing than funny. The plot was good though, the characterizations were multi-faceted, and Krusty's father was an interesting one-time character. One of the worst-executed episodes of season 3, but I still enjoy and appreciate it. B-

A good episode, no classic but a solid episode that really did a good job of exploring Krusty's character.

It had some good jokes, and the characterizations are spot-on, but it was just...meh. Really boring to be honest. Possibly the worst of the season. C.

    Unbelievable.

An easy A for me. It's actually one of the best episodes about a supporting character.
