    Rating Episodes Daily

    Every day, rate one episode of the series, from the beginning of the show to the end. Somebody can take over when a day has ended and another episode has to be reviewed. Don't get it? Okay, I'll give you an example;

Today, review: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire

    *Review
    *Review
    *Review
    , and so on.

    The next day

    Today, review: Bart The Genius

    *Review
    *Review
    *Review
And so on. Then this process continues. Okay, let's start with

Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire

Okay, this episode was pretty decent for the first episode ever. The structure worked well. The character introduction was okay, and the episode seemed to go on as it seemed; it wasn't entirely sappy and the episode even gave me a couple of smiles. In fact, I'd consider the episode warm. The ending was great, and Homer's depression was excuted well. The downsides is that the quality could have been much better, and the animation should have improved, even though it was the first episode.

Not very funny or particularly well-animated, but certainly a nice first episode that captures the characters better than just about every episode made in the past nine or ten years.

    Okay, now let's rate
    Bart The Genius

Okay, I had problems with this episode. It's more of the funny-type season one episodes, but has some cringeworthy moments. The characterisations were all round good, but yet again, I found it a bit embrassing to be honest. C+.

I actually enjoy this episode. Bart the Genius is an amusing episode, with some funny scenes throughout. It introduces Ms. Krabappel and Martin (I really love their scenes in the classroom). Plus, Bart manages to be sympathetic in the episode as well.

This episode is awesome. The terrible animation is actually pleasing to the eye in some weird nostalgic way (and the story-boarding is still much better than it is today), and a lot of the jokes are actually really funny. And fleshing Bart out a little bit doesn't hurt either.

It was a good episode that I think really expanded Bart's character. The animation was a bit off but that was to be expected of Season 1.

Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.

It's only a "ok" episode for me.
I'm not really a fan of these early episodes.
I also think it's not so funny most of the time

Remember for you to take over when there's another episode to be rated.

I haven't seen this episode for YEARS -strangely enough it never comes around on the repeats -so I'd have to see it again before making any conclusive judgments.

From what I remember of it, it was a rather good episode and the part with Bart attending the intellectually-gifted school was hilarious.

Today, we rate a new episode.

    Homer's Odyssey

I hate this one. Homer commiting suicide at this early of the series was a really bad idea. There were some decent jokes, but I just couldn't accept an episode that not only had some eye-breaking animation and awful, uncreative scenes, but I found the episode to be boring, forgettable, and all round annoying. D

One of the weaker first season episodes. It's not all that funny or interesting. A solid C-.

I completely concur. This is probably my least favorite classic era episode.

I actually enjoy a lot of the jokes, in spite of the obviously horrendous story.

Probably the worst episodes of Season 1, the suicide angle on Homer's part
    really drags the story down.

Still yellow Smithers is still good 18 years later.

I like most of the early Simpsons episodes but this one wasn't the best of them. It made it seem like Homer did suicide just because he couldn't get a Duff. The jokes are pretty dry too, but that's how some of the old episodes were. Although this episode introduces Homer's job they could've done it alot better than the way it actually came out. I give it a C+.

it's not such a bad episode imo, but i agree most of the time it's not really funny
and the story is sometimes boring. At least it has some debut appearances
from several characters like Chief Wiggum or Smithers (with different skin color)
    as far as i know.

Now, let's rate; There's No Disgrace Like Home.

The worst characterisation The Simpsons have ever seen, and I'm not going easy on it. Awfully stupid jokes (with a few exceptions), and seeing Lisa as some sort of wackily not behaved child and Marge as a drunk is so cringeworthy it's invented not to be all that spectacular.

Back when Homer was a caring family man makes this a great episode for The Simpson family and if someone wanted an introduction to OFF this would be one of the best episodes to start. But not many funny jokes and nothing else to brag about push it down.

It's a decent episode with some funny bits, but I find it somewhat lacking. It doesn't really feel like The Simpsons at all.

It's a good episode with a few laughs, but like Homer's Odyssey there is poor characterization of some of the characters.

I enjoy this episode as a type of alternate “if Marge and Homer‘s characters were reversed” idea. The episode is fairly amusing as well especially Mr Burn’s garden party at the beginning.

Great commentary on the family and alot of American families at the time. All the characterization was good. The characters reflected the characters they were at the time so I'm not sure how anyone can say "characterization" was off on any character.

Good jokes, but horrible characterizations. Even if you say that 'it was season one and the characters had yet to be really established', this portrayal of the family not only betrays the characterizations of the few episodes that had been produced, but it makes them so utterly simplistic and stereotypical. It doesn't help that a lot of the poses look very Hannah-Barbera-ish.

    Now rate

    Bart the general

A good episode quite overrated. Bart having bullying problems was a idea bound to be done and it was done well and Nelson was great in this episode before he became a one liner appearing in episodes and the movie only to say "haw haw". Grampa and Herman made this episode great though in good characterizations.

    B+

Awesome episode. The first episode that realisticly focused into Bart's problems with bullies, and the appearences of Herman, Grampa and Nelson were both funny and wonderful. The episode had some decent humour, such as Homer drying Bart's tears with a hair-dryer.

One of the best the series has to offer. First appearances of many long standing gags and jokes. A great story and excellent parodies and references to Patton.

It has good writing, direction and jokes. All of the characters involved were used to their fullest potential and the introductions of Herman, Nelson, and Jasper is also a plus. It's a top-notch episode in all respects.

One of the highlights of season 1. A great episode with great jokes and great use of the characters. Bart's bullying was done well and Herman was sheer brilliance. The introductions of Nelson and Herman is another plus as well. A

It's certainly one of the best episodes from the first season. The perfect episode to introduce Nelson as the mean bully. This episode also saw the light of the underrated Herman, one of my favorite secondary characters.
The writing, jokes and such is of course really good.

    5/5 or A by Season 1 standards.
