What do you people think about the second Futurama episode.
As with Space Pilot 3000, I think this one is really good too, with some great and funny jokes and gags, and let's not forget the introductions of Hermes, Zoidberg and Amy.

I didnt care for it..Particularly upon the first viewing.
The moon being an amusement park was neat - but everything else about it was retarded. In 1000 years they wont be able to find the original moon landing site?? Also, Leela was a jerk. A little too much outside of her character.
The rest of the episode was good, but those issues keep me from really enjoying it.
Probaly in my bottom 5.

"Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."

It's 1,000 years.
And you can't really say she's out of her character since it's only the second episode and lots of things changed after that.
I'd give it a 3.5/5 (4 in the poll) because it has Bender in great form and the first appearance of Zoidberg, Amy, Hermes and the Lazy Guy.
IMO, one of the most underrated episodes of Futurama. 5/5
One of my least favourite Futurama episodes. I just found it so utterly boring.
2/5.
Worst of Season 1, and in my bottom 5.
2/10

i think the second episode is pretty good. After the first great episode, this one is definitely no disappointment either.
I like the idea with the Lunar Park![]()

Fair judgement, IMO.Originally Posted by Ivan
Ivan, what do you find bad about Where the Buggalo Roam, and A Pharoah to Remember? (Pharoah in particular).
A Pharaoh To Remember is pretty much Futurama's equivalent of Simpsons' KTAAR. The "jerk" character of the show is extremely irritating from start to finish, has little to no redeeming value, engages in jerkassy and zany activities because he feels the need to be remembered, his jerkassy attitude and zany antics drive the entire plot which is all over the place, the other characters are reduced to playing straight-man, and the episode as a whole just grates on you because of the overbearing zanyness. Worst Futurama episode.
It's a bit like having sex with a jellyfish: once might an interesting experiment, twice would be perversion!after I told him my name, he beat seven shades out of me and left me in a dumpster with a bar of soap shoved in my mouth and a brush shoved in where the sun doesn't shine
I love A Pharaoh to Remember. Bender being evil is BRILLIANT. I have a dark sense of humor though..
Definitely in my top 5.
God I hate people saying they have a dark sense of humour, because even traditional sitcoms, usually have very dark themes underpinning them, they just don't make a big show and tell about how dark their being.
It's not even so much that bender is being evil, it's just that it's so 1 dimensional, over and over again it's just "look benders being a jerk"
throughout the series he does far more evil things, but with so much more charm and wit, in pharoh he's just irritating.
The Series is Landed is pretty weak, the story just feels very schmaltzy, the attempts at being emotional just feel like some bad old sitcom.
I didn't really like this episode at first. But it got better after a few viewings. Still a pretty average episode, especially when compared to what's to come, but I found the amusement park hilarious. "Whalers on the Moon" always cracks me up. And the ending was very sweet.
3.5/5, but I voted 4/5.
(And I agree with those who said A Pharoah to Remember is terrible. It might be my least favorite episode.)
"Alright, alright, if it will make you happy, I'll overthrow society."
Me too. I love that episode. I didn't find anything bad about it, especially with what Ivan and Imperciph said.Originally Posted by Swartzweldian
Well I like this one alot. The satire of DisneyWorld really made me laugh and the rest was also good too. For a second episode of a season it was really great IMO. the only thing that bugs the crap out of me is Zoidberg having teeth. That's not right!
On the subject of A Pharaoh to Remember. I like that one too. Like they said on the commentary it's more about Bender wanting to be remembered. And I think that's a very real emotion to want to be remembered once you are gone and it's something we can all relate to.
Agreed with Imperciph and Homer Thompson. I think another part of the problem is, for once, Bender is the antagonist of the episode; even though he's the spotlight, he's the one working against the rest of the characters and lands them in a huge mess and intentionally at that. Every other Bender episode works because we're rooting for him despite his cruel behavior, but here, his blatant meanness for no reason against Fry and Leela, whom we tend to side with, makes him a villain, and Bender just isn't enjoyable when he's the person whom we don't want to succeed.
The episode isn't so much dark as it is mean-spirited, and that's why it's a failure.
5/5. Funny story. I first saw parts of this a few years before I became a fan. My friends didn't explain anything to me about it being in the future, Fry being frozen, etc. So, I didn't like it at all. Years later, I love this episode. My favorite joke is the:
Skeeball
Virtual Skeeball
Virtual Virtual Skeeball
Amy: I could swear I'm playing virtual skeeball!
lol

5/5, a good episode that introduces more characters. I loved the farmer "Don't be a touching any of me robot daughters!" and the ending was quite good, too.
4/5 Great, but not as good as the Pilot. I did like the way the characters were introduced though.
Not as great as Space Piolet 3000, but still pretty good. The plot was pretty decent and so were the gags. 4/5
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Everything happens for a reason.
Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.
Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.
It was an alright episode, not the best, but not the worst. It did get boring at times, but it did have a good plot and some great jokes. Plus, it introduced some great characters (Hermes, Amy, and Zoidberg).
a great episode, I like the "its every man for himself! help me leela!" and stated before, the moon becoming a parody of disneyland was clever. nice intro to some characters, like zoidberg and amy, and it was really wacky.
I would give a 3/5 if not for the near end with the frys talk about how he looked up to the moon so 4/5
Yeah, Fry's speah near the end was beautiful. I really liked this episode, but it wasn't my favourite.
Fry's nostalgia about what the moon supposed to mean for him and how it all became messed up with the theme park crap must've been the first sincerely emotional moment between him and Leela.
And here is where the creators, writers and directors can explore new roads.
Characters in their late teen-years/early twens were never a huge part of the Simpsons-cast and the first flashback-episode of the Simpsons showed the possibilities of what could be realised in this style, with this kind of humor for those kind of characters.
Well, with Fry, Leela, Amy (and to a certain extent Bender) we get a Groening-show in which this age-range of characters is covered.
