I wish they showed the commercials that ran during this season. That's one of my favorite parts of the special feature on the DVDs. I remember around the 11th-13th season, there were many kang and kodos burger king commercials and some others.

Man, I am so pissed at the packagers right now
We got no food, we got no jobs, our PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!
I can't really judge the dvd packaging until i buy season 11 dvd boxset and then i decide what all the fuss is about.

For OFF's standards, this was a poor Season. Not one episode hit the A range and just one hit a B+ for me. However it wasn't a bad Season, and was certainly very watchable. Most episodes were around the B- or C+ mark which are enjoyable. Most of the episode grades came down because of the endings or third acts. And some of the episodes in this Season were the worst ever. Kill the Alligator and Run was the most messed up script ever. BTL was a disaster of an idea IMO and It's a 'Mad Marge just lost the plot by act three. However there were a couple of very good episodes. The best being 'Last Tap Dance which was hilarious throughout. However depsite some good moments, I doubt this is a Season I will re-watch many times.

yeah that episode is a very good maggie episode and one of the better episodes of season 11. Actually there are only 3 episodes of this that are unbareable (its a mad, mad, marge, Kill the alligator and run, and saddlesore gallactica)

Isn't it odd, the worst "Simpsons" season needs seperate sleeves to hold the discs because the origina packaging sucks?
I guess Season 11 is so bad, you need to buy 'protection' with it.![]()
Haha, good point Jake.
I thought the Easter Egg on Disc 4 for the Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios was pretty good.
Apart from that I found the special features severely lacking this season.
P.S 1900 posts!![]()

Finally maid throw the episodes, comentaries and extras and the episodes are not so bad, also I was chocked when I watched The Mansion Family it's a lot better than what I remenbered. The comentaries where most bad, expecially the ones for Eight Misbehavin' and It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge, there they just keep laughing and don't talk about the episode. The extras were not as good as they should be but I really enjoyed the deleted scenes. In conclusion this is the worst DVD set so far.

Having rewatched Saddlesore Galactica, an episode I hadn't seen in 8 years or so, I really don't understand the apathy people have towards this particular episode.
Having heard its audio commentary as well, I tend to agree with their assessment. Tim Long, Matt Selman and George Meyer openly defended it with sound arguments. Even Matt Groening didn't understand the overreaction towards the jockey elves, as I don't either. It was just a musical number after all, and no more insane than a stairway leading to nowhere.
Overall, it was a simply bold attempt at surrealism with some pretty funny results and a terrific and hilarious voiceover performance from the derby announcer (I don't know who voiced him). It was a solid Tim Long script, and it was well directed by first-time director Lance Kramer.
And if there's still resentment to the whole jockey elves angle, Tim did say to aim the hatred towards Donick Cary (Lil' Bush's showrunner), who actually came up with the concept in the first place.
i really don't like the third act much, but i think the first two acts are solid. there's lots of funny stuff there, i don't know why everyone hates it so much. don't just judge it by the third act

The 'stairway to nowhere' is a parody of things you seen in cities that have literaly no point of exisiting other than being weird. For example, near my home in St. Paul, MN, there's a freeway that goes nowhere that was stopped in the middle of construction and ends awkwardly in a neighborhood instead of connecting to I-94. Wheras, the Jockey elves....WTF? Are we supposed to belive that jockeys are just elves in their own time?
Uh, why is it when the show tries to be over-the-top in surrealism, it's now lauded as some kind of cultural triumph? Just being weird for the sake of being weird doesn't make you an underated creative genius.Overall, it was a simply bold attempt at surrealism with some pretty funny results...
Matt Groening, Sam Simon and James L Brooks could've pulled a triple lutz and wrote it together and I thought it would still be freaking retarded. And if there's still resentment to the whole jockey elves angle, Tim did say to aim the hatred towards Donick Cary (Lil' Bush's showrunner), who actually came up with the concept in the first place.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I don't think it's any form of cultural triumph. I think it's about trying to keep the jokes fresh, and never losing a beat, while new stories continue being told across the tv screen every other week.
And believe it or not, there are people in this world who actually believe in such things, even if they're considered a product of imagination or pure fantasy.

Like I said, being weird for the sake of being weird doesn't make you an underated creative genius. Scully introduced us to a lot of "Fresh" material in his tenure, so 'fresh' in fact it not only made me not like his way of doing things but made me like the classic era even less. You can put the most wonderful, creative, intelligent face on this gag, but pardon the cliche, the jockey joke is to satire as lipstick is on a pig.
Maybe they get together somewhere where the food is great and guys like Donick Cary are serving drinks. And believe it or not, there are people in this world who actually believe in such things, even if they're considered a product of imagination or pure fantasy.

enjoyed the episodes and commentaries very much. It was great to see everything after so many years...crazy that it's been so long.
And the disc sleeves blow hardcore. That stupid glue residue on all the disks...freakin' sucks.
Can't wait for the next one.![]()

Jockey Elves = Crab People
Absolutely, its the ' I haven't got a conclusion to the storyline I just wrote' desperate 3AM ending that South Park utilizes all too often... and they tried to say that Family Guy gets plot turns from a manatee. Compared to the crazy turns I've encountered in South Park and later Simpsons episodes, Family Guy looks half way reasonable.
That was a truly sad statement.
The part that annoyed me the most about SSG, was the anthropomorphism of his horse. Previously, TS showed animals as being quite intelligent, but actually walking around on two legs is a bit far. Perhaps they could have dropped an anvil on him, then let Bart reinflate him by blowing through his tail.
Found out something interesting on the weekend...
My local JB Hi Fi suddenly stopped stocking Season 11, yet every other store had an abundance of them. I asked a guy at the store if they were waiting on shipments or whatever, and he said no; apparently they're refusing to restock it because it's one of the very few DVDs that they've experience a 100% exchange/return rate with. Maybe things like this should be a wake up call to Fox to do something with the packaging...
That's good news, I hope the next wave has corrected packaging. Anyone who gets a copy (in the US) with actual CD slots should post their good fortune.
