Just an odd little thing I noticed.
Miss Crabappel apears twice on the same side of the dvd packing.
Once in the Isotopettes kick line, and once kissing Skinner on the sky ride.
Heh.

Got mine on monday (standard box) and it looks really, really nice. It may be inconsistent what with being thinner and all, but that's not really important. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the cardboard sleeves. It looks nice and all, but it doesn't really seem too practical, surely the disks'll get scuffed being taken out of those? But still, that's only a little complaint, as a whole the set is great.

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
I can see season 12+ making subtle changes to the packaging. Just look at how many times seasons 1-10 changed. I think it was just an attempt to cut out plastic, which I can appreciate. It also doesn't bother me that the spine doesn't repeat on the other side, I never really saw a reason to have that.
Btw, I am still loving the DVD! I sorta wish I grabbed the "collectible head" now that I know it could be removed, but then again why buy something thats going to sit in a box? I love Homer's face on the inside art as he enters Krustyland, lol. Also, Mojo appears at the shooting gallery! The long foldout reminds me of the Futurama DVDs when the slim cases are all lined up. Very sweet.
UP AND ATOM!
As it's been stated before, I couldn't believe they used sleeves for the DVDs this time around. Although, I absolutely love the panorama packaging, that in itself is a great "bonus" for the box set. I also appreciate the removable head. I've collected all but I think the bart box (sold out around here too fast), and it does get annoying to store them.
I was kind of surprised though that the people in the Beyond Blunderdome failed to rip into Mel Gibson when he says the line about trying to get in trouble with the law by speeding.
There are a lot of things I found funny watching these almost 10 years later. It was a slice of '99 to see Ellen with Heche together now that Heche says she was mentally ill at the time and Ellen is married. Also dated was seeing Robert Downey Jr. as a crazy addict now that he has become one of Hollywood's leading men. If anything, he should now guest star on The Simpsons!
Just goes to show you how much the entertainment industry can change in 9 years.
This bothers me, actually. Looking at the pictures it looks really quite messy, having the spine on both sides made it seem like even more of a professional package (even moreso with the earlier seasons, when the characters on each side of the box were different).
Have to agree about the artwork; I obviously don't have the DVD (comes out November 5 here), but looking at the photos and also looking back at the great art inside the Season 10 set, they really are putting a lot of effort into those things. The Krusty head though...the fact it sticks out so far will make it look so out of place on the shelf. I'm torn between what box to get; as I mentioned above I like the spine on both sides (I know, I know, OCD or what), which will be achieved from the limited edition's slipcover...but on the other hand it has the ugly Krusty head, and even if I dispose of that the slipcover won't fit properly on the front and back anymore.
The Homer 11 cover is also still on several Australian websites; ezydvd.com.au shows it as the standard edition (they have the Krusty head as the limited, obviously), listing a plastic slipcase amongst the features (which is obvious from the picture)....I am really, really hoping that this is not going to be an Australia-only thing (it was 'leaked' before the Krusty design, so if it was a mockup I'd really have thought whoever made it would put 'The Complete 11th Season', but as it is it uses 'The Complete Season' just like the Krusty one), although it's confirmed now to be 100% fake in the US and other regions...obviously![]()

Ok i got my Season 11 Krusty head box today (1 day shipping when I only paid for standard... way to go amazon!) .... and to those who were saying that it was hard to take the Krusty head off... dead wrong. It has like two strips of rubber glue attached to it, and it took me all of 2 seconds to get it off, and i didn't mess up the head or the regular box. It wasn't hard to get off at all. It was obviously a good idea for Fox to combine the two like this, but the inside I hate.... I feel like finding some 2-DVD slim cases and using those.
Something I just realised - there's no hole in the front of the box! I thought Krusty's mouth would be cut out and the picture inside would be like the entrace to the Simpsons Ride or something.

I didn't expect a cutout. The last few boxes have left the random featured character body part idea and went with random/useless cutouts. I had assumed they were phasing them out. I do admit, I love the cutout for the season 6 alternate package.

This was the first time I watched Behind the Laughter in like 5 years. Man, I remember why this was always one of my all-time favorite episodes. It's really a terrific episode.
Signature.

So has anybody came up with a solution to not scratching the DVDs in the cardboard fold?
The fact its thinner bugs me

God-awful packaging for anyone who switches dvds in and out frequently. Can't imagine the dvds lasting more than a couple months without skippage.

LOL I was going to come in here and say that since I noticed it too. I was wondering if they planned it like that but then realized it was most likely a coincidence.
I find it funny how everyone's Krusty head was actually attached to their box. When I bought my season 11 boxset, the Krusty head just fell out of the plastic wrap as soon as I opened it lol.

They probably chose to use the sleeves for the standard DVD box because its most likely cheaper. The plastic connectors are more expensive to make.

Well, I will be going to Target to pick up my own Season 11 DVD tonight. I'm thinking that I am going to get the standard edition, and I'm just hoping the cardboard sleeve arent as bad as people say.
Anything interesting to note about episode commentary?
I really enjoyed "Guess who's coming to criticize dinner", I'm always a fan of exploring and expanding Springfield locals, and seeing the inner-workings of the Shopper was a real treat. The bat biting Homer gag and "Stop the presses!" were highlights.
Matt Groening claims to have never seen Saddlesore Galactica.
The commentaries are very similar to season 10 , they just mostly laugh at what their watching with a few interesting stories here or there. Also it seems most of the commentaries were recorded in the fall of 2007.
Yeah. I honestly lost some respect for Groening after hearing he's never seen Saddlesore Galactica, despite all the stuff he's heard about it. It also calls into question the fact that he's on so few commentaries on this DVD set as a whole. I would bet he's probably seen very very few episodes from season 11 and who knows what other seasons. I just can't think of an excuse for not seeing that particular episode after its infamy. ESPECIALLY knowing he was gonna be on a commentary for it - he should have watched it the night before instead of for the first time ever during the commentary. He didn't seem to laugh or talk during it, but he claims he thought the jockey stuff was funny. I dunno, the whole thing seems lazy to me.
I kinda liked the commentary on Kill the Alligator and Run, which is maybe the only instance in the Scully years thus far where I've heard the writers fess up for creating a chaotic mess of a storyline.

Alright, I got the Limited Edition Season 11 DVD Set, and realized that getting the limited is the RIGHT way to go. I actually wanted the Standard but all they had was the Limited, and its a relief. The plastic 3D Krusty comes right off with no problem. The artwork is tremendous and well designed. The episode booklet is great, like always. The content of the discs are terrific as well, with MANY deleted scenes and easter eggs and such.
Now, regarding the cardboard sleeves, I was a bit frustrated at first with them. But after you get the disc out once, it isn't too bad. I learned that to make it easier for you to get the discs out is to just bend and pop-up the sleeves so they will become less tight. Just move them and ease the tention between the sleeve and box. It really is a minor problem, nothing to go reporting letters to FOX complaining. And if you take the discs out slowly they won't scratch.
So, theres my take on the product. Overall, a lot of time was taken into this and a great DVD set.
Now all I can say is, BRING ON SEASON 12!
Random thought: I think the choice of Krusty during all the Dark Knight Joker excitement boosted DVD sales a little.
Agreed with above, bring on season 12! (Moe please)
I took out the DVDs from the sleaves and put them in CD cases. I stuck it in the cardboard case, along with the booklet. I was suprised it fit. I still have the sleave case in my room as a collectable.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Everything happens for a reason.
Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.
Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.
Did you try paper CD sleeves? I did and they work perfectly. No contact with the case, mega-slim and provide a bit of "grippage" while in the box's sleeve.

I don't have any, but that's a good idea!
Thanks.
