Thread: The Simpsons: The Complete Eleventh Season DVD Boxset

If they're smart then they've probably been saving some irresitable "extras" in this set. Something that real Simpsons fans cannot do without and be forced to buy it even if the episodes stink.

The only reason that I would consider buying this is for the commentarys. I can see big things for those.

    Heh, its finally coming.

You know I like some episodes in this too, although after watching a good portion of 10 again I can really distinctively see what started to kinda make it a little weird that went particularly crazy in 11. Deleted scenes though are always nice to have, I've been waiting to see a couple of supposed missing scenes from this season.

Still though, I'm very very uncertain about whether I want to watch Mad Mad Mad Marge again even with commentary. I gotta say though, that the idea I think Mike had on one of the 10 commentaries about having the 11 cover be Homer with a chlorophyll rag couldn't be any more fitting for the season in so many ways. lol

Well looking at them again, some of these episodes are alright, and considering it has been years since I saw them I think it will be worth picking up the set. Of course that “make a steaming pile of crap episode about an alligator being killed and run” is also on this set…if only you could pay extra to have that removed from the disc.

One thing I was thinking about while watching season 10, do you think that they will get Maggie Roswell to re voice Maude on the season 11 DVD now that she is back with the show? I notice that her voice was used on a season 10 deleted scene, which I don't think she would have been apart of back when that season was being made (assumingly this was why it was cut). I think that would give the set a little more (much needed) value because Tress McNeal’s Maude and Helen Lovejoy was really distracting and off putting.

It's not that I enjoy hating this season or anything. It's just that I'm unable to pretend it's worth my money.

The commentaries for Behind the Laughter and Kill the Alligator and Run should be interesting.

The commentary for Behind the Laughter shooed be great because it had 3 executive producers and 4 writers

all of season 11 and 12 had three executive producer (al jean, george meyer and mike scully) but only one of them was official. mike scully was the headwriter/official showrunner whereas al jean and george meyer were simply the most senior on staff

i think the reason youre getting confused is because the three EP titles were shown together at the end of special episodes (such as BtL and the THOHs). im not sure exactly why they did this, but im guessing its because these particular episodes move along so fast that the numerous credits can be too distracting.

I'm not purchasing this season (just as I have no plans to ever purchase 17 or 18), but it's probably worth a Netflix rental when it comes out.

Meh. I'll be getting it for collecting's sake and the commentary on Behind the Laughter, which I'm hoping'll be hella interesting.

I think they may go back to just the standard box.

I don't know, I have a feeling they're going to still do a limited edition box and a regular one. It would just seem strange to totally abandon the idea after doing it for the past 5 seasons.

But they still carried on with boxes that were similar to the couch gags, as well as the head boxes. I think what grissom is saying is that they will still do the 'standard' boxes that they have done from the start (these include the couch gag boxes), as well as a totally different 'unique' idea, like the head boxes, but not the head boxes...if that makes sense.

If they do that, they should put the original Marcia Mitzman-Gaven VA on one audio track and put the new Maggie Roswell VA on another audio track (similar to the Seinfeld DVDs and how they handled Newman's first appearance).

I hope for the commentary Scully acts like Kevin Costner in Arthur Fortune S10 episode
"Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."

That's not the real Image,it's just a temporary cover. The temporary artwork for season 10 was similar. It was done by a fan,I think.

Yeah, that's definitely fan made. I'd be sort of pissed if that was the real art.

I have an idea for the box art:

The Simpson family at a cemetery, mourning the loss of a loved one. (Maude Flanders)

Respectable for having a handful of horrible episodes.

I hope that this is still on track for a December release, and that the fact that they have to come up with "new" box art isn't used as an excuse to delay the DVD releases. Not that I am really overly excited about season 11, but I am interested in seeing what the new box art theme will be.
Notoriety for whatever reason, never seems to benefit the noted, only the 'notees'

I would have a suggestion for the season 11 packaging. Remember the wonderful Futurama packaging? Each disc had its own mini-box and you didn't need an annoying booklet to know on which disc an episode is? The Simpsons should adopt that.

The only way I'd buy S11 is if it came free with the Simpsons movie.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

That's actually not a bad idea. An interesting promotion would be to sell Season 11 and the Movie as a bundle for the price of about a regular season when it comes on DVD (or a few bucks more). It might help promote the later seasons guarantee future sales. Season 11 will most likely start another line of DVD designs, and I am sure some people may feel compelled to complete their collection if they already have one. Season 11 may be the toughest until something like season 17 or 18 for many fans.
