It's slated right now for only one disc, so that's probably the only thing good about it. If they charge normal price for only one blu-ray disc it'll actually cost less than the 4 DVD set, but knowing Fox they'll charge $60 for a season, even if it only needs one high-def disc.
Notoriety for whatever reason, never seems to benefit the noted, only the 'notees'

Well I will let them off then seeing as it's a one disc release. This is the main advantage of BluRay for The Simpsons Seasons. I would imagine all of the other Seasons will be on two discs instead of 4 then. Should take up less room and will be a lot easier for lazy people as there are less discs to change. But still, I'm sticking with my Simpsons DVD's...

Yeah, if I could piss cash, I'd hit that, otherwise, if S11's episodes were on fire, I wouldn't piss on it to put it out.

    http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/...nd-strike.html

According to this, the strike is over, and writers are officially back to work. So hopefully this means the audio commentaries will immediately start being recorded and/or extra features will start getting put together so that the season set is released within the next 3 months.

there is no reason for them to even consider doing that.

and no... there will be not format after BluRay; especially a mere 3-6 years later. The next format won't be a format at all, but a website you can get anything you want.

no, it is just common sense.

1080 is about the highest resolution that they will ever be able to pitch to average people.

and honestly, they are lucky that people are embracing this new format considering that the internet itself is already becoming a widely accepted format itself. A lot of people are now getting their TV from the internet (did you notice that whole writer's strike thingy a few weeks ago? It was about this issue), as well as films and music. So much so that the mainstream networks have even begun putting old shows from the 50s and 60s up so you can stream them which illuminates a lot of what the industry is thinking. This is long term.

The internet has changed so much since 1998. Imagine where it will be and how it interacts with out lives in 2018. Plastic discs are already obsolete essentially and this is a one last wave cash grab.

CDs have already in a way proved this theory of balancing consumerism, practicality, and the level of technological progress.

Lets hope that they release at least 11-15 in quick succession. Otherwise they would have wasted alot of money making time.

I'm excited about getting this dvd. I'm interested in seeing what the boxart will be like. The only two episodes that I can't stand, and won't even see the commentaries to are Bart to the Future and Alone Again, Natura Diddly.

Um... why? I see little reason in holding a gruge against an episode you did like in general but to not even hear the writers out that makes little sense to me. Hell you might hear a good reson; but then again the writer don't really owe you anything so they don't really need to explain themsleves at all, nor should they. So what ever:silly:

I would watch the commentaries if the episode wasn't playing, but watching the episode, even if you can't hear the characters speak makes me fell like I'm watching the episode. I decided that I will watch the commentary to Alone Again, Nartua Diddly because I can tolerate it, but not to Bart to the Future.

Please let me in on why and or how not viewing Bart to the Future is some kind of huge snub to the writers that will but them in their place, or what ever you believe you will accomplish by not viewing that episoide?

The lack of news on this release is frustrating. With DVD's life uncertain they should be getting these all out on DVD as quickly as possible so then they can release them all again on Blu-Ray and make more money...

(not that I care about the Blu-Ray releases, I just want the DVD sets faster and it would make sense...)

I'm sorry for creating such a big deal, but my point is that I don't want and need to watch the episodes that I don't like. Can we please end this discussion now?
