You guys are forgetting that the movie is being released on 12/18/07. Of course, with the writer's strike going on, it's likely that audio commentary recording may speed up a bit, resulting in (hopefully) 3 season sets released in 2008.

^Haven't we been over this? The writers will not cross the picket lines to record commentaries for DVDs they're not getting paid for, which is why they're on strike...

Deleted the last dozen or so posts. Please stay on topic guys and don't argue.
I'm not really too upset about the delay on season 11, since I'll still more than likely get the movie christmas
As for the DVD box sets, I've got 1-10, and I think i'm gonna call it quits at that. there's only so much time in a given day, and if I'm gonna invest that much time in the show, it might as well be on the truely great episodes, and I can still watch the other reruns and new episodes on TV for free

So, I was thinking about a Season 11 release date in June 2008, maybe the 17th. If that happened, there'd only be two sets released in 2008. Earlier in the year might allow them to release 3 sets.
with the writers strike i would think they could get more of the commentaries done faster
haven't you read some of the previous posts, the writers won't cross the picket lines to record commentaries for DVDs they're not getting paid for.Originally Posted by Dave Shutton

I thought they were not being paid for internet rebroadcasts of TV shows and the writers were being paid residuals off DVD sales, but wanted a bit more, too.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
Why in the world would this be considered "writing?" And for these commentaries, it's not like Fox calls and says "Hey Al Jean, you and your boys come talk over the episode and we'll give you a few dollars, it's in your contract to do so, unless you strike."Originally Posted by KoenSoontjens
These things are very laid-back, commentaries are not writing, and the strike will indeed delay the release because of tension and distraction, but it doesn't have anything to do with improvised speech over an already written episode.
Jake is right when he talks about why they are striking. And it's not over commentaries.
you don't get it: the commentaries are on the dvd for which they are not paid enough,so they wouldn't want to record commentaries to produce dvd's for which they don't get paid enough.Originally Posted by SouthernHero
I hear you bro, and I do follow your logic. The way I see it, the writers want residual money from the writing they did on the episodes. But in the here and now, commentaries are not considered writing. And I guess you are right, they could try to delay the release date by refusing to do the commentaries, but I'm guessing that they'd be paid a set rate to do them (regardless of the current negotiations) or that they don't get paid at all, ever, and in that case they'll go on ahead and do them.
But let's just agree to disagree here, and hope that it gets released sooner than later.
But that's the thing, we don't know if they have recorded the commentaries for Season 11. Like with the movie DVD postponing Season 11, maybe the movie commentary postponed the recording of the Season 11 commentaries as well (they knew the movie DVD would mean this season wouldn't be out this year, and held off recording them).Originally Posted by pizzamancjm

Ok, what else could possibly be holding the commentaries up? The writers are striking against DVD royalties, so they won't record commentaries for the things they are striking against. I can't see Fox, as money hungry as they are, releasing sets without writers being on the commentaries as it is the writers that make up the bulk of the commentators.Originally Posted by SouthernHero

Well, the writers were extremely busy with S19 and the Movie so that was a strain this year PLUS the rumblings of the writer's strike were being discussed as early as Spring 2007. The bottom line is there won't be a S11 with full commentaries until the strike is over, or they could have all the voice actors do the commentaires w/o the writers.Originally Posted by SouthernHero

I'd buy the season box set without commentaries if I really had to, I'm not too fussed with them being there to be honest.
Well, that wouldnt be the worst outcome. I kinda doubt that is going to happen..but itd be a good idea from the Fox Execs..Originally Posted by Jake

No, that's fan-made, isn't it? It's really bad.

Season 11 was all our 'sniff' best friend. But now it's gone to a better place.
I want season eleven to be released, but in my honest opinion, the most important thing right now is to get ALL of the deleted scenes from The Simpsons Movie out on DVD.
Season ten was such a disappointment. I forgot how bad lots of it was. I won't be buying this.
she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience
she merely looked at the book
she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3
in a way its the saddest post ive ever read
