    Rate/Review "Springfield Up" (JABF07)

An eccentric documentary filmmaker Declan Desmond (guest voice Eric Idle) offers an inside look at his work chronicling the growth and development of some of Springfields finest for his documentary, Growing up Springfield, from childhood to the present. Those profiled include Marge, Moe and Homer, who attempts to convince Declan and his crew that he is a millionaire. We see Marge put her photojournalism dreams on hold in order to support Homer as he tries out odd jobs in search of success that continually evades him until a strange invention turns it all around for the couple. However, a suspicious Desmond challenges the Simpsons, who have a lot of questions to answer about their overnight success.

A rather cute outing! My personal favorite joke was the origin of the Screaming Cat Lady. Other than the too-quick ending, I'd say this is the best episode of S18. Grade: B+ (4/5)

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

That was so refreshing. It seemed really original and sweet. There was more funny material in here than any single episode I've seen in the past while. I actually "lol'd" about six or seven times. Can't wait to get this on DVD for commentaries and re-watching.

she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience

she merely looked at the book

she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3

in a way its the saddest post ive ever read

Good episode, other than the slightly too long ending. 4/5

Edit: Can anyone upload the trailer, Global sucks.

I really liked that. Best episode in a long while. Only thing I didn't like was the time machine joke, but that wasn't too awful.

    Awesome episode!

    two in a row.

if these experimental episodes bring back a "quality" to the show, bring it on.

I was really impressed by this episode, I busted out laughing when the guy in the navy suit wound up to be disco stu, a very good and unconventional episode, I'll give it a B/B+

Crap, I enjoyed the episode so much I forgot there was supposed to be a trailer. And then I remembered that global doesn't show the trailers.

Biggest laughs, Cat Lady origins, Disco Stu/Sea Captain twist, and the best moment was probably the collection of kind things the town had to say about Homer.

5/5 episode - I loved the retro stuff, and it was nice to see the origins of some of the characters. The trailer was awesome too, and I think this is the first thing I've seen Chuck Sheetz direct since the Recess movie.

This episode was pretty awesome! I think the last, maybe, 8 minutes or so seemed kind of slow but....it doesn't really matter. It was pretty cool to see Desmond back.

Best epiosde of the season. I have two very small nitpicks with the episode, but they are meaningless compared to how great the rest of it was. Also, FINALLY they aired a proper movie trailer during the ads. I really loved the entire episode. Even Smithers extended gag and digressions (gags that usually faceplant) had me laughing.

Best episode of the season. The little vignettes before the main story were funny. I loved the origin of the Cat Lady, and the Wiggum story was funny.

I liked how the writers treated how Homer. He was funny and endearing, something which is increasingly rare. I think the general arch about how Marge gave up her career for Homer and how Homer didn’t understand how well he has it. The ending was really sweet, and funny.

The best of the season. A-

Another great show! I enjoyed it a great deal, and I can't wait to see it again on a quality screen (my cable is out and my reception is awful). Cat Lady origin made me laugh, as did the Smithers in the clock part. I also loved the trailer, it made me even MORE excited for the film!

Good stuff two weeks in a row! My score: A

    Holy...crow. Holy crow. Fucking amazing.

Without a doubt, this may be one of the best episodes of the Jean era I have ever seen. Solidly written, with some great jokes and a bit more screen time given to other characters. (Let me be the first to say, this is the first time I laughed at anything Crazy Cat Lady-related. [Oh...Mr. Burns was in character and they used Smithers without trotting out the gay jokes. Pointless observations over]) I'm not exactly sure, but I did detect some hints of Jerkass Homer, and some parts of this episode dragged a little, but they didn't detract from what has proved to be a refreshing, funny, and...dare I say it?...great episode. Besides, Eric Idle rocks.

    4.35/5

PS: The trailer looks promising, too

Great episode -- I really loved the flashbacks.

Loved it when Mr. Burns catches them in his mansion. Asks Smithers to release the hounds, then he has to get the hounds. Next shot they are sipping tea, then being chased out by the hounds.

    Hilarious.

Felt sorry for poor old Lenny -- but that was the point.

Can someone upload the trailer, GlobalTV ran their own promos instead.

Pretty damn good. Homer's little performance at the end was a bit long.

I actually really enjoyed that, and the music was fantastic. This is one of the rare episodes that I am so pleased with, I can't help but smiling after watching.

5/5 - Excellent episode. Best of Season 18 and one of the best in a very very long time. I'm really liking Season 18 and IMO it's leaps and bounds ahead of Season 17.

The trailer was amazing as well. The animation was soooooo good. It put Futurama to shame.
