Rate/Review American Dad - Bush Comes to Dinner

When Stan enters an essay-writing contest to have his personal hero, President Bush, come over for dinner, he is overcome with joy when the President arrives at his doorstep. However, not everyone in the Smith family shares Stan's excitement. Haley tries to drill Pres. Bush on the Iraq war, and Steve and Roger attempt to convince him that they've found Osama Bin Laden but instead get him drunk after 15 years of sobriety. Stan tries to save the President from public humiliation while Haley revels in his fall from glory.

I thought it was great. Best parts were Stan trying to stop Haley from asking questions about the war and drunk Bush.

3/5. For all of those who don't know, Dollywood is a crappy theme park in Pigeon Forge, TN.

THIS HAS BEEN A FILMWAYS PRESENTATION!

This episode was atrocious. After seeing some pretty good efforts from American Dad recently (meaning it's actually made me somewhat interested in the plot), this was just a "look at how dumb and kooky Bush is" episode. To boot, a pointless Osama bin Laden plot. This is the poster child of how not to do political satire (i.e.- throw someone into an episode, make them the focus, and just make fun of them with no insight).

0.5/5 I was considering watching AD when it moves to its 9:30 timeslot, but this episode made me reconsider.

    2/5.

Lately I've really grown interesting in American Dad. It had been making huge steps to becoming a great show, and has shown potential to become the best show on the Sunday night line-up. But last night's episode was just bad. Bush was incredibly annoying. They went so over the top in making him dumb that it just completely failed. The Haley thing was so overused also, and the subplot was too stupid to even be funny.

There were a few funny throwaway gags though. "Pillowgun" was pretty funny.

Kinda shitty to be honest. Bush was really not funny at all. Neither was Stan repeatedly attempting to trap Haley and prevent her from asking about Iraq. Steve and Roger's semi-subplot was the only thing that saved the episode from total failure.

A let-down from last week, but it still had a few funny jokes. Better than last night's OFF.

The Roger subplot was kind of funny, the Drunk Bush jokes got old really quick, any idiot can make a Bush is stupid joke, but it takes a really special idiot to make a whole episode about it, C/C-

I thought it was a great episode, with an American Dad spin on a traditional "guess who's coming to dinner?" sitcom style plot. Plenty of laughs throughout... pretty much enjoyed everything about it.
    Signature.

3/5, american dad as a whole is annoying, but this episode had some great laughs!

This episode was great. That episode is what American Dad was made for. Who did the Bush voice? Anyone know?5/5

Had some dumb laughs, funny but dumb nonetheless. (But you could say that for any Macfarlane show)

Wow, not sure how people can like this episode. It's episodes like these that make me lose faith in humanity.

3/5 ....Bush Jr makes me so sick that I couldn't laugh at any light hearted attempts to humorize him. I was left with Rogers side story which was Ok as usual

Not as good as American Dad has been, just average.

    That's sad, lighten up.

Sorry, hard to lighten up. As much as I dislike Bush (and always have), the episode does hardly more than portray him as a drunken idiot. There's absolutely no insight whatsoever. "Bin Laden in a Blender" is more creative satire than this.

Maybe they didn't want to get to politically jaded, and made him some what more liklable...I dunno

It was ok, not the best American dad but the consistent story with a beginning middle and end kept me interested. I'll have to watch it again as I can't really remember a lot of the gags, but George bush drunk and the bit with Osama made me laugh. It was weird how they tried to have an emotional story after Stan had basically tried to kill Hayley, but whatever. 3/5
