I'm still in on it, but I'm going to be increasingly busier from now until about 14 weeks away when semester ends, so I really can't see myself submitting draft scenes like I've been doing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I've done all the work, lol, I've done nothing of the sort, I'd put it at an extremely low percentage of the product we've gotten so far, but truth be told we'd probably still be stuck at the very first line if I hadn't have submitted those draft scenes for people to build on. But still, and once again I'm not trying to sound like an asshole, I think that the showrunner needs to be doing the most work. Why? It's because that's the way things work. When a leader was elected, I assumed that they'd be doing everything that a showrunner should be doing, head writing and such, but we haven't seen anything of the sort yet. As of this point, the most we've seen is a few abstract suggestions from scripts suggested by the 'writing team'. Once more, I'd volunteer myself to do it but I'm going to be busier from now on...I knew I was going to be which is why I didn't suggest myself for the role in the first place. But really, Adam, you need to take a much bigger hands on approach. As the showrunner of the script, which I DO want to see finished at one point or another, I think you need to be the head writer, pitcher etc above all others. Stop waiting for people to do the work for you and instead be proactive in all regards, showing leadership and not complacency. I think that a group chat would be a good idea to start though.
Yeeeeah. I keep, um, forgetting about the script. I need to be more assertive as the leader really. Hopefully these chat sessions should make it easier for me to control, we can brainstorm ideas and get some work done. Firstly, I'm going to PM everyone (except Neb and Stratman, since they're already aware of this) and ask them if they're interested in the chat session.

So now the question is: what days are good for everyone? I can be online any day after around 3:30 or so, local time.

EDIT: Everyone is PM'd, except Homer_Thompson and StrideR because their private message inboxes are full.

It's ok, I cleared my inbox.
I'm not sure I'l be able to do it anyway though, it'll probably be using a chat service I don't have, and this old computer is probably going to blow, if it has to download stuff like that.

No harm in trying, just see Neb's post and try the link:

Basically, you just click on the link, type in your desired username and you're automatically in. It works the same as any chat service, and it's very light so there's no images or whatever to clog up your connection.

Well as you're already aware, it's working for me, really great conversation by the way, thanks for that.

Hey, sorry I've been MIA for a while, as I'm trying to cut down on the Simpsons obsession for Lent.

During the week, I work evenings until around 9:30 PM Eastern Standard Time at which time I can definitely be on. Weekends are good too (particularly Sundays) provided I know the time beforehand.
Favorite Episodes (by Season): Season 1: Krusty Gets Busted, Call of the Simpsons
Season 2: Blood Feud, Itchy & Scratchy & Marge, Bart the Daredevil
Season 3: Radio Bart, Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk, Bart the Murderer
Season 4: Homer the Heretic, Krusty Gets Kancelled, The Front
Season 5: Cape Feare, The Last Temptation of Homer, Sweet Seymour Skinner's Badasssss Song
Season 6: Bart's Girlfriend, Bart of Darkness, Homie the Clown
Season 7: Summer of 4ft 2, Lisa the Iconoclast, Bart Sells His Soul
Season 8: The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show, The Springfield Files, The Secret War of Lisa Simpson
Season 9: Girly Edition, The Cartridge Family, Lisa the Skeptic
Season 10: They Saved Lisa's Brain, Lisa Gets an A, Simpsons Bible Stories
Season 11: Grift of the Magi, Brother's Little Helper, Beyond Blunderdome
Season 12: Hungry Hungry Homer, The Computer Wore Menace Shoes, Trilogy of Error
Season 13: The Bart Wants What It Wants, Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge, Sweets and Sour Marge
Season 14: I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can, The Bart of War, Mr. Spritz Goes to Washington
Season 15: Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Tis the Fifteenth Season, The Wandering Juvie
Season 16: Thank God It's Doomsday, The Heartbroke Kid, Fat Man and Little Boy
Season 17: The Seemingly Never-Ending Story, Marge's Son Poisoning, Bart Has Two Mommies
Season 18: The Haw-Hawed Couple, 24 Minutes, Little Big Girl
Season 19: The Debarted, Midnight Towboy, Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind
Season 20: Gone Maggie Gone, Take My Life Please, Homer and Lisa Exchange Cross Words

Weekends are currently best for me.

I'm free pretty much all the time at the moment.
I'm sure I don't need to remind you of this, adam r, and it's probably patronising for me to do so, but make sure you pay attention to the different timezones people are in.

  11. #131

I think it was agreed on earlier that the consultants would abstain from really getting involved in the chat sessions, but rather be more of editors on already written material. I still don't have the time to get involved in a chat session, but I'll still be willing to look over anything that has already been written. I do think I need to apologize that I have given no input on the script, which is mainly due to the fact figured, from constantly viewing this thread, that Adam and Neb and Thompson and the other active members were making too much progress for me to really keep track of. So yeah, no chat sessions for me, but I'm still open for consulting.

Eh, I don't really think there's any need for "consultants". It'd be more than likely that if you're not going to be involved with the production of it in a semi-dedicated way, then you're not going to be a lot of help just randomly looking over the script once everyone is done hacking it to pieces. 13 and out...I mean, all in or all out.

I've played around with the timezones a little bit, and assuming that NYC is the same as eastern standard time, then I think the best time to get a little chat thing going would be around:

    NYC: 9pm
    Sydney: 1pm
    London: 2am

If it's on a weekend, which I assume that it will be, then we can make the time considerably earlier so that poor ol AdamR and Homer_Thompson don't have to stay up too long. On the negative side, Stratman would have to get up pretty early for a weekend. So it'd be more like:

    NYC: 7pm
    Sydney: 11am
    London: 12am
    Perth: 9am

Does that sound good for everyone? Say, next Saturday night (US/UK)/Sunday morning (Aus)?

First, just let me explain that the only reason I have been MIA is because I am lazy. I will, however, rededicate myself to this project.

Secondly, those times that were just posted by Nebuchanezzar work for me.

Yeah, I was going to say this, hence me getting rid of the categories "writers" and "consultants" on the front page, especially since the reasoning of many for remaining just as consultants was lack of messenger, which now doesn't matter.

I should be able to be on at around midnight, probably not for too long though.

A couple of other things to keep in mind regarding the chat room. It should go without saying, but use your board usernames. Also, it might be an idea to bookmark the chat room and visit it every now and then. I know things should mainly be done as a whole group, but since your show runner is likely to be on quite a lot of the time, it wouldn't be a bad idea to work on the script if there happens to be 4 or 5 of us on at once.

I'd actually be very happy to do a midnight session or even a 1 am start, I don't think I'd like to be on past 2:30am though. But I focus quite well late at night.

In actual fact, my parents are away next weekend, and I have the house to myself (in case your intrested, my other siblings have moved away, I'm the youngest of 4 children) Not that, it's really makes much difference, but It would mean I could boil coffee freely and make snacks, without fear of waking anyone up.

So next saturday would be perfect.

OK, so it's agreed, next Saturday/Sunday will do and if possible it could be the weekly time to do this. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to go on then, but I can't guarantee I'll be entirely awake though.

Yeah, whenever we're on here we could open up that chatroom and just to see if anyones in there, if we feel like it we could discuss the script, or we could just chat about nothing in particular, who knows it might help if we "got to know each other better" and by that I mean engage in group sex.

Will any of these sessions be screwed up because of Daylight Savings Time here in the U.S.? It starts on March 11 this year at 2 A.M., much earlier than previous years.

Well, since it's on Sunday, it won't affect anything this week, but we'll need to take it into consideration next week. I'm not aware of the change happening in England this weekend, but I probably wouldn't know these things anyway.

As daylight savings is still in effect, shouldn't Perth be listed as 8:00 AM?

You are correct. Perth doesn't usually have daylight savings time, I'm used to subtracting three hours. :silly:
