Hell, Wikipedia had an entire list of Season 10 DVD extras at one point. I asked if they were genuine on the talk page, but someone's already removed them.

Easily Season 9 is the start of the downfall of the Simpsons, season 8 was the peak and people like David Cohen know it. It just gets worse after Season 9! Am I wrong?!?

Everyone has their own option, but most seem to think it's an interesting mix of classic and plain episodes. I would point more to season 10 as the beginning, but that's just me.

Season 9 is like the MTV generation:
Bart: Nothing you say can upset us. We're the MTV generation.
Lisa: We feel neither highs or lows.
    Homer: Really? What's it like?
    Lisa: Ehh.
Notoriety for whatever reason, never seems to benefit the noted, only the 'notees'

There are good episodes in and after season 9 but its peak was deffinatly season 8 and thats no lie. And how can one year or season be a generation, thats stupid.

This statement is a bit misleading. Some people have interpreted it as saying that season 9 is bad. I see it more as the begining of a downhill slope. I personally see season eight as the begining of the decline, although it is one of the best seasons! To me six and seven are the best, eight is not quite as good as these. Nine and ten slide further away. But still, I would rank season ten equal to or slightly better than season one, back when the episodes were not quite so packed with jokes. Season eleven is truly the start of the dark times. Once I have seasons one through ten, I will be happy. After that it is just great episodes interspersed with mediocrity.

Not sure if anybody's noticed this or it's been mentioned, but at http://dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63039, the noted members of the commentary for The Cartridge Family include one John Schwartzwelder! What's everyone's opinions on this? Personally I hope it's true, but after eight seasons of insisent anonimity, I wouldn't be surprised if it's false.

Cripes, this thread has had a bunch of posts on that. There are no real indicators pointing towards the listing being fake.

This season (the 9th season) is, in my opinion, the last "classic" season. It's not as great as season 4 (my favorite), but season 10 was very Homer-heavy, which got boring. Seasons 11-12 were the low point, with crap episodes like "Saddlesore Galactica", "Kill the Alligator and Run," and whatever episode Homer got raped by a panda (season 12 I think).

We'll enjoy this boxset like the others, aware that the last handful of memorable episodes are on here.

A few people will disagree with that. Trilogy of Error in Season 12 is pretty memorable for members here, as is Little Girl In The Big Ten, Moe Baby Blues, 'Tis The 15th Season, The Seemingly Never Ending Story, and a bunch of others from seasons 12+.

    Thumbs Up still lookin' up

it embarasses me to say this but I've only really watched a few episodes in this season, besides season 8 it has alot of episodes I haven't watched, so I'm sure it'll be a treat to what I hear of the plot lines of the episodes, and simpsons hasn't gone bad it still has alot of good jokes and mutantly funny. Yes, it may be the last season of classic episodes but trust me, simpsons have not gone downhill. I look forward and eager to the fact that this season will be released in a set of four compatible discs that show the episode on your dvd player or computer.

I'm looking forward to this. I have all eight other sets, and this will be my final one. I hate to say it but The Simpsons started going down-hill after this season. The last good season in my opinion, with a lot of classic episodes that are always enjoyable.

Does anyone else enjoy some of these later seasons coming out? I mean, I've seen Cape Feare 100 times already, I'd like to see something which might feel a bit "new" simply because I haven't seen it in a while.

Season 2: Blood Feud, Itchy & Scratchy & Marge, Bart the Daredevil
Season 3: Radio Bart, Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk, Bart the Murderer
Season 4: Homer the Heretic, Krusty Gets Kancelled, The Front
Season 5: Cape Feare, The Last Temptation of Homer, Sweet Seymour Skinner's Badasssss Song
Season 6: Bart's Girlfriend, Bart of Darkness, Homie the Clown
Season 7: Summer of 4ft 2, Lisa the Iconoclast, Bart Sells His Soul
Season 8: The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show, The Springfield Files, The Secret War of Lisa Simpson
Season 9: Girly Edition, The Cartridge Family, Lisa the Skeptic
Season 10: They Saved Lisa's Brain, Lisa Gets an A, Simpsons Bible Stories
Season 11: Grift of the Magi, Brother's Little Helper, Beyond Blunderdome
Season 12: Hungry Hungry Homer, The Computer Wore Menace Shoes, Trilogy of Error
Season 13: The Bart Wants What It Wants, Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge, Sweets and Sour Marge

Season 20: Gone Maggie Gone, Take My Life Please, Homer and Lisa Exchange Cross Words

Season 9 dropped the ball bad as but there are some absolute classics in latter season such as, 'Lard Of The Dance', 'Wild Barts Can't Be Broken' and 'The Wizard Of Evergreen Terrace' (one of the best episodes ever) all in season 10 and 'A Tale Of Two Springfields', 'The Computer Wore Menace Shoes', 'Tennis The Menace' and 'Trilogy Of Error' which are all in Season 12.
Season 10 to 12 are bloody good but about season 13-16 is when they were just about un-watchable. I believe season 17 n 18 they are slighty bouncing back.

That's how normally the DVD thread. There's excitement for a while after we hear about the date release. Then it dies down. Then there is excitement when we find out the special features and it dies down again. Then there's excitement where we see the box artwork and once again the excitement dies down. So, the thread will probably be boring until it the DVD comes out.

...............................tennis the menace?????????? Even though I think that the Scully era is better than the jean era, Even I have to draw the line someware. Oh, and the wizard of Evergreen Terrace, not one of the best episodes ever. If you ask me, the week when the show went down was the week of Homer Simpson in kidney trouble. Even though their were some good episodes after, the tone is just different.

It's hard to point out just how many opinions in that post suck. Seasons 10-12 are nothing but crap. A Tale Of Two Springfields is one of the shittiest episodes ever, and Wizard of Evergreen Terrace is far from one of the best. 13-16 are easily the best thing since the classic era, and 17 was a giant step backward, as is 18 so far.

I never get the argument why Season 12 is so sucky. Take out New Kids on the Blecch and Simpson Safari, and it's a solid season. That's something you have to do (remove the bottom few episodes) with any Jean season in order to fully enjoy it. I always defend season 12 because it's my favorite season since season 7. I don't own many of the DVDs (only 2 and 4), but I think I will start buying them when season 12 rolls out. It's actually the next one I'm looking forward to (season 9 also, but because I haven't seen the eps in ages).

I have to agree, I'm sick of the shit people dish out to Season 12. It has some terrible episodes but the great episodes and moments are far more memerable to me than any other season after Season 9...

Yeh thats what i'm saying, its so fashionable to bag the newer simspons episodes as we all did when season 7 and 8 first came out. Season 12 is a great season but i'll admit that seasons 13-16 are preaty bad, They are not that good but could yas all stop giving shit to the newer seasons.

You still haven't justified all the shit you're saying. What makes seasons 13-16 so bad? What makes 12, 17 and 18 so good? You say a bunch of shitty episodes are great, why?

And by the way, we're not going to stop criticizing newer seasons just because you want us to. It's opinion.

Finally, season 9 is available for preorders on Amazon.com. Now I can sleep soundly knowing that on Dec. 19th this will be delivered into my hands as I sit working in the office.

if we are going to rag on any season/s of the simpsons it should be the earlier seasons like 1-3
