    Krusty Gets Busted
An awesome season-one episode and probably the one that fits in the best to the rest of the series, since it started the whole Sideshow Bob plot.

    "life on the fast lane"

i watched it this morning and wow, it could've aired in s2. i like "krusty get busted" as well but it's not quite as immersive as "fast lane". it also has a few clumsy first season elements, such as loose or undefined characterizations and a general lack of cynicism that keep it from being a true classic, imo. both great though

Moaning Lisa, Life on the Fast Lane, and Krusty Gets Busted are all huge favorites for me. I'm especcially happy to see Moaning Lisa getting some love since I've always found it especcially poignant and hilarious, and yet it always gets shit on by a lot of people. The best tv episode ever about depression deserves more credit, and I'm glad it's getting some here.

But, I gotta go with Bart the General. It's such a great gag episode, and at least for me, one of those episodes where through most of it there's a good laugh every ten seconds or so. And it has some good satire and great film homages. So many of my favorite lines come from just that episode. I know most people don't love it as much as I do, but it's a top five classic IMO.

Any of those four winning would be good, though.
Two eyes, two ears, a chin, a mouth, ten fingers, two nipples, a butt, two kneecaps, a penis. I've just described to you the Loch Ness Monster. And the reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland. So I have one question: why are you here?

I guess I'll throw my two cents out.

It's always been a tough call between "Krusty Gets Busted" and "Life on the Fast Lane" for me. In the past I've tended to go with "Busted", but I think over time I tend to prefer "Fast Lane" overall. It doesn't match the absolute best of future seasons, but it is still one of those defining "Simpsons" episodes for me. The level of weight the episode is able to give to the characters, Marge's almost persistent unease every moment she sees Jacques, the shared concerns and coping by the Simpson kids and Homer, it's dramatically involving in a way few episodes can match, without becoming cheesy or schmaltzy in the least. The humor actually helps reinforce this poignancy too, the kids going through the stages of grief, the "An Officer and a Gentleman" ending, even Jacques' character, it all works in tandem. Like Jimbo said, it really could have aired in season 2.

Close call between Moaning Lisa and Life on the Fast Lane, but I'll go with the latter. The cold loneliness of a pre-divorce atmosphere is portrayed excellently here, and the ending is intense and satisfying.

Roasting, Crepes of Wrath, and Krusty gets Busted are my personal picks in this season. I voted for Busted.

There are quite a few good episodes here, and normally I will vote for the episode that entertained me the most - in this case, it's The Crepes Of Wrath. A decade and a half later, it still doesn't feel dated in the least.

I threw in my vote for Homer's Night Out, my personal season one favorite, though I see Krusty Gets Busted is currently winning and you really can't go wrong with that one.

This is a great idea, it'll be really interesting to see where the votes go over the summer.
got to agree, simpsons roasted was a fantastic episode, and one i never tire of watching so ive gone for that.

Also nice to see the best episode run officially and in a proper way to actually see the best episode.

My favorite MOMENT would be Krusty the Clown show's intro in the episode 'Krusty Gets Busted'

Krusty: Hey, kids! Who do you love!

    Kids: KRUSTY!

Krusty: How MUCH do you love me!

    Kids: WITH ALL OUR HEARTS!

Krusty: What would you do if I went off the air?

    Kids: WE'D KILL OURSELVES!

    Krusty: Hoo-heheheh

Moaning Lisa. A highly philosophical episode, and an early character study. The video game sub-plot was really funny.

  18. #48

Krusty Gets Busted, for sure. It's the ideal Simpsons episode. It's quite possibly the funniest season 1 episode, best animation, great acting, pacing, superb characterization, and a fantastic story with a cool mystery.

Runner up would be Life on the Fast Lane. I love that episode too. Can't say anything bad about it. I also like the Telltale head, Bart the General, and Moaning Lisa to name a few...

life on the fast lane, bart the general, moaning lisa, krusty gets busted and the crepes of wrath are all contenders here.

    LOTFL wins, though.

Ditto, big time. I love this whole season, and still remember how fresh and exciting it was to see this kind of humor and detailed gags on TV. It was revolutionary. I truly can't pick a favorite.

Almost no one will vote for my favorite, The Call of the Simpsons, so I'll go with my second favorite, Bart the General.

i was actually never very keen on the first few seasons. the episodes didn't really start to get funny untill the 3rd or 4th season. anyways, out of those choices, you got to love the first episode.

We also get some great music on the saxophones and get to meet BGM (who I know some people don't like, but I've always liked him). It's just an all around lovely episode.
i have to say, i was going to go with Moaning Lisa because, I agree, it was an amazing episode. But, after careful consideration, I decided to go with Krusty Gets Busted because it was carefully done and it wqas believable, unlike the much later Who Shot Mr. Burns which was, though clever, hardly realistic. So, anyway, Krusty Gets Busted won in the short run because it was believable, fabulous and, above all, very entertaining. Moaning Lisa was just too sad to be feel-good, though it did have some very funny moments.

Moaning Lisa, the first and one of the few Lisa+Sax episodes.

But I voted before I registered, so my vote doesn't count...

still one of my very favorite seasons, and the choice is also one of the more difficult for me to make. "busted," "fast lane," "general," and even "bart the genius" have become some of my very favorite episodes.

have to go with "krusty gets busted." still a top 15 episode.

Surprised Life on the Fast Lane has so many votes, didn't realise many people liked it. I'm not a huge fan but it's not the worst of the Season.

Anyway I voted for Krusty Gets Busted, but Bart the Genius is very close behind.
