"Bart's Girlfriend" has all the hallmarks of a great Simpsons episode: one of the most memorable quotes/runs in the history of the series (the glasses gag), great humour (the aforementioned glasses joke, "There goes the glue after all!", Ned singing in church, "Stop him! He's heading for the window!") and a simple premise that makes for a really good story. The ending is charmingly twisted, with Bart kind of coming out on top but not really, falling for Jessica's charms once again but feeling victorious knowing he's going to do a poor job of the chore she's doing as punishment. Meryl Streep's performance is outstanding as well. A

A-. Great episode with one of my favorite lines:

Good vocal work from Meryl Streep. It's funny because Jessica Lovejoy simultaneously for me makes this episode really good yet not quite a classic. She's a great counter for Bart in a way that really does a lot for his character. She's not comedic evil like Mr. Burns is, so her presence doesn't do as much for me as one of the greats. But, I might be just trying to think of something to talk about. I'm in a very middling mood after all. 4/5

More amazing is how Streep actually sounds like a 10 year old.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I didn't really think Jessica sounded like a ten year old, but I don't mind.

As for this episode, it has a decent plot and funny laughs, but I fail to see what's so great about it. B+

You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

    Everything happens for a reason.

Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.

Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Yeah this is a great episode. Very funny ("probably misses his old glasses", Bart walking in on Flanders singing, thinking it's Jessica), but a lot of the episode's success rides on the strength of Jessica Lovejoy's character. She is just quite simply a great one time character and the interactions between Bart - who was superbly characterised - and her are simply excellent. I don't quite think it's A+ material, due to the first act not being as good as the last two, but it's still an excellent episode. A

I'm not really mad on the plot, but it's kinda funny so it gets a 4.5/5.

3/5 - Reasonably good episode but a little boring at times.
