It's a parody of the poseiden adventure, a movie that came out in the 70's. THe new movie coming out soon is a remake.

It is probably more of a parody of The Poseidon Adventure, which Poseidon is a remake of.Originally Posted by zipperblues

And Tomacco, my post wasn't meant to be an insult, that's why I said "no offense", it's just my opinion.
Good Medicine!Plenty of Laffs through out. Loved Burns "Cap-Size" joke the best. Sideshow Mel died from having his hair catch fire? ...5/5

Wellllll...I was under the assumption the 'guest voting' was turned off, but I guess that's a 'no.'Originally Posted by Corkus

Season 19 Ratings:
He Loves to Fly and He D'ohs - A
The Homer of Seville - C+
Midnight Towboy - A+
I Don't Wanna Know Why The Caged Bird Sings - A
Guest voting was turned off for one of the review threads a few weeks ago but one of the mods turned it back on right afterwards.
Who wrote and directed the episode?
And I think we should stop guests voting on these things, it annoys me when my nerdish habit of adding up the percentage of 4 and 5's is disrupted![]()

I thought the guest voting was turned off when I first saw the oddball amout of 5/5's.Originally Posted by Galalimit

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
If you went up to your teacher and said, "no offense, but you're a shmuck", would you be surprised if you got sent to the principal's office?Originally Posted by Galalimit

Anyway, this was a pretty not-so-spectacular episode.
Not a lot of people are familiar with the Mayflower, the Mutiny on the Bounty or the Poseiden Adventure, so it's hard for people to relate or understand the plot. The previous historical trilogies picked much more well known stories.
First act - 2/5. Too many jokes about views of women during the period
Second act - 3.5/5. I liked the part on Tahiti. But why did they put the Easter Island heads on Tahiti? Skinner as Captain Bligh was very good and I think it was the strongest of the three acts.
Third act - 2/5. What was with all the jokes about the 70's? The Simpsons as the PArtridge family was a nice touch. And I liked how some of the deaths came right out of the movie.
Overall - 2.5/5 (Round down to 2). Not that great but not horrible. I really think that the writers need to stop milking the same jokes, having their background characters continually make the same jokes they do in every other episode, and stop using kiddie humour. It seems like every time somebody spoke in this episode, their lines were tailored for 10 year olds.
And who wrote this episode?
The writer was Jeff Westbrook.Originally Posted by Veryjammy

I thought the first two were pretty good, The first being best. It got a lot worse as it went a long though. Best Line/ Joke would be: "Thank you for covering our women's boobs with cloth, you'll get an updated bill on your way out."
My ratings are something like this:
1st: 4/5
2nd: 3/5
3rd: 2/5
Yeah I noticed that too, but can someone refresh my memory on what his past episode writer credits, if any, have been? I feel like I've seen his name around, but I can't place an episode.Originally Posted by Semaj
No it wouldn't surprise me because calling someone a shmuck is an insult. What I said to you wasn't an insult and I didn't use any offensive words or anything. All I said was that it wouldn't have surprised me if it was you who voted 5/5 all those times and there was nothing wrong with me thinking that because you've always been known to go very easy on new episodes. That's not offensive at all.Originally Posted by Tomacco

As alot of people have said already I'm going to give this episode a meh-3/5
It was O.K I laughed at some parts

3/5 I thought it was okay, I really wasn't looking forward to it at all, but it was better than I expected, I really like that Krusty bit with the legs. I thought the third story was the best.
It...just...wasn't that good. I think they could have done without the wrap-around. It didn't add anything to the plot. Plus, IMO, worst Captain McCallister appearence ever.
2/5.
THIS HAS BEEN A FILMWAYS PRESENTATION!
Just alright. A few good jokes, but overall I think it will prove to be forgettable.
"Larry Bird doesn't do as much ball-handling in one night as you do in an hour!"
I meant to give it a 4 but gave it a 5. I really liked it made me laugh a few times especially the opium joke and Skinner getting kicked out of the boats and the turtile. Third act was really good.

4/5.
I actually thought it was pretty good. For once they did decent parodies, and some fairly intelligient writing. All acts were entertaining. Of course Jean needed to stick in some music at one point, but eh. Not bad for Season 17.

2 out of 5. Very "meh" episode. Only laughed out loud at a few gags.
Willie:
I'm so drunk I can barely see
But it helps me get through another day
My stomach is filled with haggas and baght
I've got to go puke in some hay

My brother and I liked the show. I give it 4/5
"I want it sung in a round!" *fires gun* "Rounder! I still hear edges!"![]()
Jeff Westbrook previously wrote On a Clear Day I Can't See My Sister, so it's not too surprising this episode wasn't a hit. My expectations were low to begin with, so I didn't like it all that much either. I laughed at the Frying Dutchman crew playing basketball instead of cooking and the opium joke (even though it was already used a few seasons back), but these trilogy episodes are just boring to begin with so it was hard to enjoy. I'd say a C, or 3/5.
"There's a couple of things they don't teach you in Harvard Business School. One is how to cope with defeat; the other is how to handle a shotgun. I'm going to do both right now."

Meh. My favorite joke was when everyone looked at Smithers to do something for Homer. Not because he's gay, it's because he has the keys.![]()
i give it a 3/5. The first act was actually my favorite with all the puritan jokes. The second was okay. In my opinion hte opium joke was pretty badly voice-acted and was over all a pretty bad joke. The third oone was pretty funny and it comes close to the second one. not the worst but not the best. Funny how in NHC, the majority voted for either 5/5 or 1/5.
