Does anyone know why The Simpsons hasnt entered into national syndication like FX?
You mean national sydication like being on every single Fox affiliate nation wide, in most cases 2 times a day?Originally Posted by Dr. Cheeks
No I mean like a cable channel.

I thought by mentioning "FX" made it pretty obvious that he wasn't refering to every Fox station.
I can't answer the question but I remember some time ago the Simpsons being on the WB network.
It still is on the WB network and has been for quite some time.
I was wondering, has anyone here actually wondered where Springfield is? I know it has never been a problem for me.
^Yeah, I've never really cared at all. In fact, I didn't even know it was a running joke until I started going on the internet.
Also, there's one thing I was going to mention here, but I was going to wait until I could get a framegrab (which has been awkward since Destination Springfield is down). Remember the joke about a new dog house being built in Insane Clown Poppy? Well if you remember, the predicted completion date is January 2007. I wonder if they finished it... :silly:
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask this in, but anyway, I have heard that Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein are not working on the show/movie (they probably never worked on the movie) because they have a major problem with certain individual(s) working on the show/movie currently. Does anyone know who the individual(s) is/are and why Oakley and Weinstein have a problem with him/her/them?
Choke on your lies!!!
No, that was just that Bill just said that there was some disagreement he had with someone involved in the production of the DVD's which was the reason he didn't appear on many season 8 commentaries.
I'm not sure why they weren't invited onto the movie, apparently it has something to do with the contracts they signed when they became showrunners.
But I'm still suprised they weren't invited anyway. But they've got lots of their own projects too, so maybe they would have been too busy anyway.
lol, probably not. Homer probably put it off to january 2012 or is never going to finish it :silly:Originally Posted by Adam R

Hey, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but Sam Simon's supposed to have a bit on 60 Minutes about his work with animals sometime within the hour. I'm not sure if they're going to go much into his work on the show, but might be worth a watch...
I'd kill to get a Nobel Peace Prize . . .
What? How could we let the General Discussion thread move to the second page? In order to revive it, I'll ask the question, am I the only person who is annoyed by the fact that both parts of 'Who Shot Mr. Burns?' are always grouped together? It seems like everyone always gives each episode the exact same grade, which is fine, but it happens all the time, and it seems to be done out of sheer convenience, when I think, even if they are directly related, they are very different, and I find part one to be of far better quality.
I am not annoyed by the fact and don't see any harm in grouping the two episodes together, but I do think part 1 is significantly better than part 2. To me, Part 1 is the second best season finale of the show, while Part 2 is merely agood episode with some flaws.
In Who Shot Mr. Burns pt. 1, Mr. Burns reaches a new peak of villainy which extremely entertaining to see. The writing of the episode is just superb with slowly involving many characters into the main mystery while providing top notch hilarity. The direction is fantastic and Mr. Burns makes a very convincing decline into cartoonish supervillainy: he hasn't been anymore evil in such a fascinating way after this episode. This episode provides one of the most cinematic viewing of a simpsons episode, ever.
Part 2 however has to resolve a lot of plot points developed in part 1 and since it goes resolving from from plot to another therefore the storytelling is not as tight and compelling and towards the end when Homer escapes and the whole town decides to go after him, things become a little too chaotic. That's not to say it does not have great moments in it, in fact it does have plenty of those. But it lacks the tense, cinematic atmosphere part 1 has, and is therefore weaker than it.
It's a bit like having sex with a jellyfish: once might an interesting experiment, twice would be perversion!after I told him my name, he beat seven shades out of me and left me in a dumpster with a bar of soap shoved in my mouth and a brush shoved in where the sun doesn't shine
In agreement with Imperciph here.
Who Shot Mr. Burns (Part One) - A+
Who Shot Mr. Burns (Part Two) - A-

I disagree, I think. They're fundamentally different episodes that are linked only through plots. The style is completely different throughout both as is the tone. It's silly to group them together, no buts!
WSMBI: A+
WSMBII: A-

Interesting...
I never thought of looking at the two as seperate episodes instead of one single enitity, but after reading this, I decided to. Neb and Mr. Imperciph are right: Part 1 is a lot tighter, while Part 2 gags a bit on all the plots it has to tie up.
WSMB I: A+
WSMB II: A- (Oh, how orignal)
I like Part 2 a lot more than Part 1 believe it or not.

i think part 1 was destined to be better. the writers were obviously gonna have a lot more fun with setting up the mystery than having to solve it. and the climax of the plot happens before part 2 begins, so even with the tension of the mystery, part one has the advantage of building up, rather than breaking down. additionally a lot of the appeal of part 2's core premise, the mystery element, is lost once you know the solution, whereas part 1 makes no secret of what it's leading to, so there's the rewatchability factor.
all of that considered, part 2 did a decent job of supplementing an inherently inferior portion with humor and exciting plot beats. it's not far behind at all in terms of quality, and doesn't bring down the enjoyment of the whole at all when watched as such.

2: A-
Would any of you GD losers be interested in doing a little, "GD Awards" type thing? You know, to create a better sense of community amongst this part of the board blah blah blah. The official NHC awards had about 0 awards dedicated to this part of the forum, so I thought it could be cool to have a little one in here. Anyone?
Awesome. This wouldn't be anything big, I expect, just a fun little thing for those of us who still attend this part of the forum. May I suggest the following broad categories?
The first annual Kiyosuki award for lengthiest post.
Best GD moderator.
Best post.

i hope i win everything.

Baby on board, how i adore.i'm on board (no pun intended)
Is this award a substitute because most of us aren't likely to win the official NHC awards ?
Anyway, I heartily endorse this event or product.
Would these awards be an "...of all time" type thing, or just recent GD? In other words, would it be limited to the last year or so, or would it extend to the previous 5 years. Personally, I think this would work better as the previous year, but you proposed the idea, so it's your call Neb.
Also, will all awards be GD specific or broader categories like best poster under 18 (which it'd be a pleasure for me to lose to TFD :silly, best non-US contributor etc..
Oh and there would be best member of the initials krew.
EDIT: 4000th post![]()
Well, if it were "of all time" then there'd be a few problems
a) most members don't know, read or talk to members past
b) there'd be way too many contributors anyway
c) that's a dumb idea. go kill yourself.
I'd say it'd work better for the past year or so, you know, from season 17 onwards or something like that. So, everyone should start thinking up of random awards (be kinda conservative in your suggestions), I'll give it a few days and then we'll just start voting. Once again, it's nothing serious it's just for a bit of fun.
