Life imitates the Simpsons:

Mustve been an overflowing yardsale
A sex yard sale?!
Is it still open? And did anyone happen to go?
Is anyone else not seeing some presumably terrible reality show, Who Do You Think You Are?, on their local NBC affiliate at the moment? My affiliate has never, ever, ever televised The Simpsons, and I just flipped past to find that terrible episode on where Homer gets the plastic surgery. Now Homer of Seville is on. What the hell? My Network TV syndicates Simpsons here, but they and the local NBC affiliate are sister stations. Was Who Do You Think You Are? deemed controversial and pulled at the last minute or something?
What do you think they put in the Bug Juice?
No they don't. Come on...shut up.
Who Do You Think You Are? isn't bad. The British version at least.
I seem to recall my old school used to use the 'SEX! Now that I've got your attention...' idea to advertise a book fair. Questionable teaching, perhaps.
Season 27 Ratings
i was talking to my uncle at a family gathering on the weekend and got onto the subject of Simpsons DVD's.
he watched the show from the very beginning but had only ever considered buying the first four seasons. only recently did he decide to "lash out" and try the 5th which he enjoyed much more then he remembered. i guess this has associations with the latest Mirkin thread but I was wondering if anyone else knew of big fans who wouldn't go any further than the first couple of seasons. because i would definitely say they're missing out on some of the best the show had to offer
We got no food, we got no jobs, our PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!
Did he watch the show when it was on the air and not have fond memories of the fifth season, or did he just play it safe and not bother to go past season 4 thinking the series couldn't possibly get any better? Posters on alt.tv.simpsons were all ranting about the decline of the show just as much in 1993, so perhaps he was one of those veteran viewers who experienced what he believed was a decline firsthand? I stopped watching The Office on a weekly basis a season or two ago because it didn't feel as up to par, but watching some recent episodes on demand, it still is quite funny and entertaining and I'm probably wrong about a sort of decline to a certain extent.
i believe he watched the show up until about season 10 and i am assuming he disliked what he could remember from Season 5 enough to not want it on DVD
I think seasons 5 through 8 were the funniest in the shows history
just realized the double-meaning of "lisa's substitute"
bergstrom is a substitute teacher and a substitute father figure
Oh, that. I expected another layer in the story that I might've missed.
Well if you count the deleted scene where she misplaces her saxophone and has to 'blow' something else...

"Me fail English? That's unpossible!"
Even as a kid I thought that joke sucked. Everybody loves it though. I think it's just because Ralph said it.
unpossible is a funny word, deal with it
Well no shit it works because Ralph said it. It wouldn't work if someone Lisa said it. But on a completely unrelated note who else loves when you look up a Simpsons clip and every top rated comment involves that's a paddlin. Like on the Me Fail English bit on youtube the top rated comment is "failing english that's a paddlin."
i've always liked the unpossible line. it just really works. i don't think it would have worked with any other character, and the delivery is priceless
More controversey: I think those sadgasm songs from that 90s show are really good.
