Season 2 menus are good enough but the spinning heads get annoying. Season 3 menus really annoy me how long they take though to get to a certain episode.

I tend to watch the DVD's on my computer with VLC player, which skips all the head spinning crap from season 2 and goes straight to the menu. But with seasons 3 and 4... ug. At least 3 is mildly entertaining, but 4's design is absolutely terrible. It kinda puts me off from rewatching season 4, which is a shame.

For some reason, I don't really mind the season 3 menus too much. I think they have a certain classiness through their simplicity.
When I bought season 3 I was disapointed at the menus the first dvd I bought was season 6 and the menus on 5-9 are really good easy to use to get to episodes and special features and nice little things shown from the episodes featured.Though being a basic menu is ok it is slow and doesn't feature play all.But season 4 is worse as you have to wait for a clip that you've seen so many times before before watching the episode and it can be annoying at times.I have yet to buy season 2.
I really, really love Season 6 menu with all those themes associated with "Who Shot Mr. Burns?". One of my wonders since I have bought the DVD is that who played the voices of one-time secondary characters? I mean, in the menus, I heard Bleeding Gum's Murphy's "heh", Jessica Lovejoy making sound 'mmm' while sticking out her tongue at the camera.
calmer than you are
So, I was doing some research on Tennessee Williams and found out that he was in the Alpha Tau fraternity, as Smithers said he was also in "I Married Marge". Smithers was also compared to Williams in "Secrets of a Successful Marriage". The Alpha Tau thing is probably just a coincidence, but my fangirl's mind thought it was interesting. :silly:

That scene in Secrets of A Successful Marriage is great.
I'd like to bring up the topic of season 8. It seems to be a season that is very rarely discussed here. For a while, it was one of my favorite seasons, but then I think I kind of outgrew it and noticed some flaws, such as the often overly-dark tones in episodes. It's an inconsistent season with quite a few meh episodes, but about just as many great episodes (Homer vs. the Eighteenth Ammendment comes to mind.
I don't think the tone of season 8 was "overly" dark. Maybe more cynical, and definitely darker than the previous season, but I wouldn't count it as a flaw.
There are a few meh episodes, I agree, but then again, there's a lot of memorable and great episodes as well. (i.e. You Only Move Twice, Homer's Enemy, etc...)
It's not my favorite "classic" season, but I still think it's very good.
"Alright, alright, if it will make you happy, I'll overthrow society."
I think it's a bland season. Compared to the seasons that precede it, there's barely any real genuine character moments. I think it loses something in its attempts at doing a weird idea in just about every episode.
I actually kind of liked that they took a lot risks with the season and experimented with the formula. But I can see what you're saying; I do think it might've benifited from a balance between experimental episodes and more "normal" episodes. But I enjoyed the season for the most part.
Season 8, IMO, still feels like it belongs in the classic era. It may seem a little bland, but I think the weird ideas they used were done enough in a good way to not be considered wacky.
Recently in Husbands and Knives, The Android's Dungeon closed down forever. Does this mean that Comic Book Guy is out of the show, or just his shop? Or are neither out of the show and this is one of those "a wizard did it" deals?
LOL.
That whole first act of the episode was one big THROW AWAY GAG.
Probably not. Knowing The Simpsons, it will probably be reset.

I doubt that they're gone forever, The Android's Dungeon and Comic Book Guy will probably reappear later on, nevertheless, like nothing happened. Kind of like how Gil was shot repeatedly and presumably killed in "I Don't Wanna Know Why The Caged Bird Sings", then reappered in "Funeral For a Fiend" as a member of the jury.
Worst. Signature. Ever.
no offense but every time i read your post simpsons_fanboy, i read it in comic book guy's voice.
I usually do that too.Originally Posted by Slug

It just so happens that I did take that as a compliment.![]()

parle le francois.
getting back to the libro de cómics guy. i think he'll come back , they all do.
I think he might come back. We just have to wait and see what the future of the show brings us.
He's Gonna come back. It's like asking "Will we ever see the Power Plant again because Homer got a diferent job in the most recent episode?".
ofcourse he will be back, however i hope they give a reason for him to come back.
Random Conversation Starter: Who else is obsessed with Comic Book Guy?
Another One: Do you think that people would watch a 24/7 Simpsons network? I think that 400+ episodes is enough to fill it. There would also be several other shows, all related to The Simpsons.
The Simpsons: The main show of the network.
The Simpsons-Ullman Show: The Tracey Ullman Show with all non-Simpsons material cut out
The Simpsons Shopping Show: A home shopping show where they sell nothing but Simpsons merchandise and collectibles. They'd sell video games, action figures, animation cels, toys, etc.
The Commentary Show: Episode commentary swiped straight from the DVDs.
The Deleted Scene Show: Deleted scenes from Simpsons episodes, as well as deleted scenes from The Simpsons Movie.
Treehouse of Horror: A block that shows nothing but the Treehouse of Horror segments from The Simpsons.

no
A 24/7 Simpsons channel would probably be a bit of an overload.
ASATT (All Simpsons All the Time) channel... man that could fly between NHC members.Originally Posted by Chou
