    R&R: "The Telltale Head"

Another sorely underrated episode here. The wraparounds at the start and end are good, it's funny throughout, the animation makes you think you're watching a season 2 episode, and the plot is more than solid. Top 30 episode! 5/5

    C+

It's overly moralistic, lacking in laughs and predictable, although still watchable. There's some horrible animation in this though imo, like in the wraparounds.

I've always wondered why people seem to down an episode because of animation. if an episode is A+ material, and the animation is bad it still doesn't change the grade, but meh imo it's just a bonus. I agree with the laughs weren't increadibly high but the wonderful, clever storyline makes up for it. Infact it has one of my fav lines where Bart says to the bully "because I might fall on my face and end up looking like you!"

    A+

I've not marked it down because of the animation, I was just coming back to Nameless' point about it looking as good as Season 2 - it doesn't. Now bad direction, that might make me knock down the grade because direction is crucial...it can make the scenes interesting or make it seem flat and boring; it can make the jokes perfectly timed and set-up, or it can mis-time them completely. How much more interesting would the car wash scene have been in Bonfire Of The Manatees if it had used more interesting angles and dfferent shots instead of one long boring medium shot for the whole thing.

I've watched "Homer's Odyssey" enough times to know that the animation in that one is so poor I can't possibly grade it higher than 3/5, even if the storyline and the opening bus ride are pretty good.

Animation, however, wasn't a huge problem in 7G07, at least no more than the average Season 1 episode, and I'm a fan of the 7G07/7F05 type of storyline. I do prefer the ending with the added lines; it seems more justified this way. Overall it's the third best of Season 1; 4/5.
Bart: "Please don't call our parents!"
Chief: "I'm afraid I have to for hijinks like these. Hijinks - it's a funny word. Three dotted letters in a row."
    Eddie: "Is it hyphenated?"
Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."

I usually don't mind animation unless it's glaringly bad or is error-filled, like Homer's Odyssey.

Well...what to say here? Nice plotline, clever jokes, dealt with the subject of peer pressure in a pretty mature manner. (Mature? Maybe I ought to rephrase that) The animation was a little poor, but it was Season 1, so...

The gags in the first act were top-rate, ecspecially the poor Sunday-school teacher being beset by all the kids asking her if anything but people get into heaven.

Oh, and the first appearance of Reverend Lovejoy. Members of the Give The Reverend A Hug Association may rejoice!
(No, I'm not sure what that meant either)

And, let's face it, I'm a sucker for Bart episodes.

One of the stronger season one episodes, I also like how a majority of the episode was a flashback narrated by Bart

5/5 Every time I don't know the argument to explain why do I like an episode so much,I just make a list of great jokes. I'm to lazy today,so I decided just to rate it.

Very Good episode. The jokes were funny and the plot was decent but I wasn't fond of Bart's preachy ending. A-

The plot is excellent in this episode, but the humor is almost non-existent

A very well-written and interesting episode. It really is a classic that explored Bart's character very well and already began to develop his dimensions. This episode is also notable because it marks two momentous things: the first appearance of Reverend Lovejoy and the first Burnsmithers ship moment ever! Err...um, but I digress...:-$ The episode was of very high quality, not only for the first season, but for the whole show. :thumbsup

Whats with the hate on this episode apart due to the animation? With that in mind, we should hate Psycho, Godfather, etc just because they don't have advanced cameras. Anyway, this was a very heartwarming episode and IMO, the 2nd best of season 1.

This is one of the first episodes I ever saw. I enjoyed it, even though the humor was a little lacking. The plot made up for it.

    4/5, good episode.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

One of Season 1's weaker episodes. It was an absolute stupid reason to cut off the head of a statue; no matter how hard you think about it, or how hard you go into it. The episode isn't exciting, it's not funny, and the animation is dreadful.
